{"id":55703,"date":"2019-10-09T18:52:24","date_gmt":"2019-10-09T22:52:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/?p=55703"},"modified":"2019-10-09T18:52:42","modified_gmt":"2019-10-09T22:52:42","slug":"joshi-legend-emi-sakura-returns-to-aew","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2019\/10\/09\/joshi-legend-emi-sakura-returns-to-aew\/","title":{"rendered":"Joshi Legend Emi Sakura Returns to AEW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Japanese women&#8217;s wrestler (joshi)<em>\u00a0<\/em>legend returns to <strong>All Elite Wrestling (AEW)<\/strong> on Wednesday night, when <strong>Emi Sakura<\/strong>, a star with influential <strong>All Japan Women&#8217;s Wrestling (AJW)<\/strong>, returns for the first time since <em><strong>AEW Double or Nothing<\/strong><\/em> to compete once again, when she teams with <strong>Bea Priestley<\/strong> against AEW Women&#8217;s Champion <strong>Riho<\/strong> and<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_55704\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-55704\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-55704\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/10\/EGaZ5EEWwAAXREd-e1570660940959.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-55704\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: AEW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Emi Sakura debuted in 1995 for\u00a0<strong>International Wrestling Association Japan\u00a0<\/strong>before moving on to AJW and <b>Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling\u00a0<\/b><strong>(FMW)<\/strong>.\u00a0 In 2006, when the i<em>oshi<\/em> scene had lost some of its biggest names and companies, Emi Sakura helped to form <strong>Ice Ribbon<\/strong> where she would discover her talent for training.\u00a0 As a trainer Sakura has had a big impact on the j<em>oshi<\/em> scene as she has trained many extremely talented women, passing on her experience and technical expertise.\u00a0 She left Ice Ribbon in 2011 and set up the unique\u00a0<strong>Gatoh Move, <\/strong>where she has spent the rest of her career as a wrestler, trainer, and owner.\u00a0 Sakura has a wealth of experience and a bright personality, but don\u2019t let that fool you she can manipulate her opponent\u2019s body in so many ways.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"(RIHO&#039;S FAREWELL MATCH) Riho vs Emi Sakura , 2nd July 2019\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/H0RH8wLd440?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As well as being a huge name in the\u00a0<em>joshi\u00a0<\/em>scene, Emi is also a veteran of the UK indie scene. Since 2011, she has been a huge part of <strong>Pro Wrestling EVE<\/strong>, the top European women&#8217;s promotion. She won the EVE Championship in 2012 and has remained a huge part of the company ever since, facing most of the top stars from within the UK scene.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Emi Sakura vs Shazza McKenzie\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3n4c_1_STzE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>She made her North American debut earlier this year, when she took part in the first AEW PPV, Double or Nothing, in a 6-woman tag match teaming with <strong>Yuka Sakazaki<\/strong> and fellow\u00a0<em>joshi\u00a0<\/em>legend <strong>Aja Kong<\/strong>, against <strong>Hikaru Shida, Ryo Mizunami<\/strong> and now AEW Women&#8217;s Champion Riho.
