{"id":55214,"date":"2019-10-02T15:51:57","date_gmt":"2019-10-02T19:51:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/?p=55214"},"modified":"2019-10-02T15:53:23","modified_gmt":"2019-10-02T19:53:23","slug":"aew-veteran-riho","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2019\/10\/02\/aew-veteran-riho\/","title":{"rendered":"AEW On TNT: The 22-Year Old Veteran Riho"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/2019\/07\/24\/riho-stardom\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stardom<\/a> High Speed Champion and one half of the first-ever AEW women&#8217;s championship match <strong>Riho\u00a0<\/strong>has emerged as one of AEW&#8217;s brightest lights.\u00a0 The Joshi performer had been wowing audiences in Japan for years before making her way to AEW where she has been pushed well and impressed in every match she&#8217;s had so far.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A Veteran<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Debuting in 2006 Riho is a thirteen-year veteran.\u00a0 This puts her up there as one of the most experienced members of the roster.\u00a0 And more importantly a veteran in a young women&#8217;s division.\u00a0 With less experienced wrestlers like <strong>Sadie Gibbs, Bea Priestley<\/strong> and<strong> Nyla Rose\u00a0<\/strong>making up the AEW women&#8217;s roster having an experienced hand like Riho could be invaluable to holding the division together in its early days. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cagematch.net\/?id=2&amp;nr=9434&amp;page=4&amp;s=800\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cagematch<\/a> she has also had almost 900 matches meaning she&#8217;s probably come up against every type of performer in her career to date and again this could be an invaluable asset to the women&#8217;s division.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Trained By The Best<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Riho is a student of\u00a0<strong>Emi Sakura.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Sakura was a fantastic wrestler in her own right but has a track record of training a variety of great wrestlers.\u00a0 Riho has always been Sakura&#8217;s prize student.\u00a0 Riho is also trained in part by <strong>Nanae Takahashi\u00a0<\/strong>famous for her love of hard-hitting, stiff pro wrestling.\u00a0 Riho is the perfect mix of two of Joshi&#8217;s best combining Nanae&#8217;s hard strikes with Sakura&#8217;s all-round skills.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>She&#8217;s Succeeded Everywhere She&#8217;s Been<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Riho is most known for her time as a regular first in\u00a0<strong>Ice Ribbon\u00a0<\/strong>and later with<strong> Gatoh Move <\/strong>where she was the promotion&#8217;s ace.\u00a0 She has also made sporadic appearances for almost every company in Japan including the now-defunct <strong>NEO Ladies<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Dramatic Dream Team Pro Wrestling<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Wrestle-1<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Michinoku Pro Wrestling\u00a0<\/strong>and has wrestled elsewhere in Asia for the likes of\u00a0<strong>Singapore Pro Wrestling<\/strong>, <strong>Philippine Wrestling Revolution\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Oriental Wrestling Entertainment<\/strong>.\u00a0 No matter where she&#8217;s been Riho has succeeded, she was the Super Asia champion for 620 days, a title she never lost, a two-time Asia Dream Tag Team Champion, UWA World Trios Champion, International Ribbon Tag Champion and is the current undefeated Stardom High Speed champion.<\/p>\n<p>The talented Riho has a track record of success in her thirteen-year career to date and looks set to continue that success in AEW when she takes on Nyla Rose to crown the first-ever AEW women&#8217;s champion.<\/p>\n<p>Stay tuned to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Last Word on Pro Wrestling<\/a>\u00a0for more on this and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
