This year the 12 competitors are grouped into opening round triple threat matches, and there are two non-tournament match-ups as well. The entire NGI4 is airing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fite.tv\/watch\/gcw-the-ngi4\/2p0um\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">live on <strong>Fite.tv<\/strong><\/a> on Saturday at 8pm local time in Chicago and 9pm EST.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>NGI4 Opening Round Matches<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Mance Warner vs. Matt Tremont vs. SHLAK<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_54504\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54504\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-54504\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/09\/EEz7_S6WwAAfDI1-e1568984670497.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-54504\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>An explosive opening round match-up, featuring three of the best deathmatch wrestlers of the year. <strong>Mance Warner<\/strong> has gained some mainstream attention as a regular with <strong>Major League Wrestling (MLW)<\/strong>, but his roots are in the hard-hitting style of the American Hardcore. A former <strong>Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW)<\/strong> World Champion, he honed his craft in<strong> IWA Mid South<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/2019\/02\/14\/mance-warner-2019s-breakout-star\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">before exploding last year<\/a>. Another former CZW World Champion (and GCW World Champion) is &#8220;The Bulldozer&#8221;\u00a0<strong>Matt Tremont<\/strong>. Tremont has already won one hardcore tournament this year, <em><strong>Crimson Cup III<\/strong><\/em>, and made the finals in two others &#8211; <strong>Insane Championship Wrestling <\/strong>(Milwaukee&#8217;s ICW, not Scotland&#8217;s) <em><strong>Insane 8<\/strong><\/em> and <strong>On Point Wrestling<\/strong>&#8216;s <em><strong>Survival of the Sickest 4<\/strong><\/em>. The winner of the <em>NGI2<\/em>, Tremont is ready to show he&#8217;s capable of adding another tournament victory to his resume.\u00a0<strong>SHLAK\u00a0<\/strong>is an insane monster is takes more pleasure in dishing out pain than actually gathering wins or losses. He made the finals of this year&#8217;s <em>Tournament of Survival 4<\/em>, but this year he&#8217;ll be shooting to take the entire <em>NGI4<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Markus Crane vs. Alex Colon vs. Eric Ryan<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_54503\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54503\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-54503\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/09\/EEyVSgBXUAAdEkT-e1568984692471.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-54503\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Markus Crane<\/strong> made the finals last year but failed to knock off eventual winner <strong>Masashi Takeda<\/strong>, so he&#8217;ll be looking to show that last year was no fluke &#8211; this time he&#8217;s gunning to win the whole thing. <strong>Alex Colon<\/strong> is coming off winning this year&#8217;s <em>Tournament of Survival 4<\/em> and has emerged as one of GCW&#8217;s hardest soldiers &#8211; he&#8217;s been in many of GCW&#8217;s best match-ups this year. He also won this year&#8217;s <em><strong>Texas Death Match Massacre<\/strong><\/em>, a joint tournament from <strong>Inspire Pro<\/strong> and <strong>Heavy Metal Wrestling<\/strong> in San Antonio last month.\u00a0<strong>Eric Ryan\u00a0<\/strong>has been in plenty of tournaments, but hasn&#8217;t been able to win any in recent years &#8211; but that doesn&#8217;t negate this man&#8217;s toughness and willing to push himself through the pain for some big matches in 2019. Another of GCW&#8217;s 2019 MVPS, Ryan just may be due.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Kody Rice vs. Nick Gage vs. Matthew Justice<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_54502\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54502\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-54502\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/09\/EEylWXXXYAArySb-e1568984715958.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-54502\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GCWMatt Tremo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Wisconsin&#8217;s <strong>Kody Rice<\/strong> is a freelancer who has earned his stripes around the country in IWA Mid South, <strong>Freelance Wrestling, AAW<\/strong>, GCW, <strong>Hardcore Hustle Organization (H2O)<\/strong> and many more. This is his most high profile hardcore tournament to date for him and he&#8217;ll be looking for a good showing. Unfortunately, he&#8217;s in the grouping with the King of American Hardcore and the tournament&#8217;s namesake, Nick F**king Gage himself. The GCW World Champion, surprisingly, has never won an\u00a0<em>NGI<\/em>, although he&#8217;s made the finals the past two years. But he&#8217;s no stranger to these kinds of tournaments &#8211; he&#8217;s the 2018 winner of IWA Mid South <em><strong>King of the Death Matches<\/strong><\/em> and <em>Tournament of Survival 2<\/em> in 2017. The third man in this opening round triple threat is a man who has been making a violent name for himself in the Midwest with <strong>Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW)<\/strong> in reigning 2x AIW Intense Champion <strong>Matthew Justice<\/strong>. Justice is a tough competitor, who actually made his GCW debut this year at\u00a0<em>Tournament of Survival 4<\/em>, and he&#8217;ll be looking to show just how tough he is in his first\u00a0<em>NGI<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Jimmy Lloyd vs. Yuko Miyamoto vs. Orin Veidt<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_54499\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54499\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-54499\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/09\/EE2mAumXoAEhX9h-e1568984738753.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-54499\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;The Different Boy&#8221;\u00a0<strong>Jimmy Lloyd\u00a0<\/strong>has had a banner year with GCW, emerging as the Prince of Hardcore and one of GCW&#8217;s most dependable workers. He was a finalist in this year&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Tournament of Survival 4\u00a0<\/em>and proved his durability by winning CZW&#8217;s <em><strong>Tournament of Death 17<\/strong><\/em> last year.\u00a0<strong>Orin Veidt\u00a0<\/strong>has been another of GCW&#8217;s breakout stars in 2019 after working various indies around the US and Canada since 2015. Arguably one of the favorites in this year&#8217;s\u00a0<em>NGI4\u00a0<\/em>is <strong>Big Japan Wrestling<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Yuko Miyamoto<\/strong>. A 2x BJW Deathmatch Champion, as well as 2x <strong>DDT Pro<\/strong> Extreme Champion, Miyamoto has been an innovator of the deathmatch style for over 15 years, including working with <strong>Pro Wrestling FREEDOMS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Non-Tournament Matches<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Alex Zayne vs. Blake Christian vs. Gringo Loco vs. Jake Lander<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_54501\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54501\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-54501\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/09\/EEtjZbiXsAE8iGN-e1568984761465.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-54501\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On Thursday night at the opening of <strong>Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG)<\/strong>&#8216;s <em><strong>Battle of Los Angeles<\/strong><\/em>, <strong>Alex Zayne<\/strong> and <strong>Blake Christian<\/strong> were opponents in a tag match that also featured GCW regulars <strong>Joey Janela<\/strong> and <strong>Tony Deppen<\/strong> that got a standing ovation from the PWG faithful and chants of &#8220;G-C-W!&#8221;. <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/2019\/07\/10\/alex-zayne-gcw-backyard\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Zayne<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/2019\/08\/16\/blake-christian-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Blake Christian<\/a> have emerged as two more GCW discoveries that are now taking the pro wrestling world by storm, much like GCW did last year with <strong>Marko Stunt<\/strong> and <strong>Jungle Boy<\/strong>. They&#8217;re part of a four way non-tournament match that is guaranteed to be an exciting and athletic contest, as the two are joined by Chicago&#8217;s own lucha legend, <strong>Gringo Loco<\/strong> (who has become a regular with MLW as well). The fourth competitor is another young man from the Midwest having a stellar 2019 in <strong>Jake Lander<\/strong>, who is making his GCW debut. He&#8217;s currently one half of the <strong>Black Label Pro<\/strong> Tag Team Champions, <strong>Blood Diamond<\/strong>, with <strong>Tre Lemar<\/strong>, and one of the Midwest&#8217;s stars to watch in 2020. This could be the show-stealer.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Marko Stunt vs. Tracy Smothers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_54500\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54500\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-54500\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/09\/EEtjZ3iW4AAIU7a-e1568984782818.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-54500\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Marko Stunt has had a meteoric rise in the pro wrestling world since <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/2018\/08\/18\/size-doesnt-matter-when-youre-the-guy-marko-stunt-makes-his-mark\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">he went viral from his GCW debut last year<\/a> at <em><strong>Joey Janela&#8217;s Lost in New York<\/strong><\/em>. His days on the indie circuit are winding down as he prepares to go <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/2019\/07\/30\/marko-stunts-amazing-year-ends-in-aew-signing\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">full time with <strong>All Elite Wrestling<\/strong><\/a>, but he&#8217;s still got a few dates left with GCW, including a non-tournament match-up on Saturday against a legend in <strong>Tracy Smothers<\/strong>. Smothers has been wrestling since 1983, having worked for <strong>Continental Wrestling Association (CWA), Mid South<\/strong> and NJPW in the 1980s and WCW and WWF in the 1990s, before reinventing himself in ECW in the late 90s as part of the <strong>Full Blooded Italians (FBI)<\/strong>.
