This weekend marks the fourth annual Jim Lynam Tournament<\/strong><\/em> for AAW in Chicago, a huge tournament held annually in tribute to former AAA co-owner Jim Lynam<\/strong> who sadly passed away in 2015. Like every year, it’s a massive field featuring some of the best names in indie wrestling and this year is no different. Past winners have included Kassius Ohno<\/strong> (Chris Hero, 2016), Michael Elgin<\/strong> (2017) and Sami Callihan<\/strong> last year, and with a wide open field this year, we’ll see another new winner this weekend.<\/p>\n

Opening Round Match-Ups<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Colt Cabana vs. MJF<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A star-studded field kicks off with AEW’s MJF<\/strong> facing off against Ring of Honor’s Colt Cabana<\/strong>, as the wily veteran looks to stand his ground against the brash upstart.<\/p>\n

Josh Alexander vs. Jake Something<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A clash of two of IMPACT Wrestling’s hardest hitters, as Jake Something<\/strong> (aka Cousin Jake in IMPACT) tangles with one half of the IMPACT Tag Team Champions Josh Alexander<\/strong> of The North<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Trey Miguel vs. Myron Reed<\/strong><\/h3>\n

On the indie circuit, Myron Reed<\/strong> is the fourth member of The Rascalz<\/strong>, and in the first round he faces fellow stable mate Trey Miguel<\/strong>. Reed has been one of the top young stars in the Midwest the past year and will look to show he can hang with his Rascalz brother who has become one of IMPACT Wrestling’s fresh stars in 2019.<\/p>\n

Ace Austin vs. Laredo Kid<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Another IMPACT star, Ace Austin<\/strong> faces off against Mexico’s Laredo Kid<\/strong><\/a>. Laredo Kid is one of AAA’s top cruiserweight stars who has also worked for AEW, IMPACT, Major League Wrestling (MLW) and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), as he branches deeper into the US wrestling scene.<\/p>\n

Jacob Fatu vs. Jake Atlas<\/strong><\/h3>\n

MLW World Heavyweight Champion Jacob Fatu<\/strong><\/a> has been making his presence felt in AAW of late and he’ll be looking to add the Jim Lynam Tournament to his impressive resume of 2019. He’s facing off against one of the West Coast’s breakout stars of 2019 in “Superstar” Jake Atlas<\/strong><\/a>, the reigning PCW ULTRA Light Champion.<\/p>\n

Ace Romero vs. Willie Mack<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Two hosses go at it in the first round, as superheavyweight Ace Romero<\/strong> clashes with IMPACT Wrestling’s Willie Mack<\/strong>. While both men are known for their size and strength, they’re also both recognized for having deceptive athleticism and speed for men their size.<\/p>\n

Curt Stallion vs. Joey Lynch<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Two Southern stars collide in what could be the darkhorse match of the opening round. Curt Stallion<\/strong> is a former Glory Pro<\/strong> Crown of Glory Champion and Southern Underground Pro (SUP)<\/strong> Bonestorm Champion, who came up through the Texas indies and is now a regular with EVOLVE<\/strong> and AAW. Joey Lynch<\/strong> is a veteran of Southern indies like ACTION Wrestling, Anarchy Wrestling<\/strong>, and Southern Honor Wrestling (SHW)<\/strong> who has a knack for tournaments – he was the 2018 winner of the Scenic City Invitational<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jimmy Jacobs vs. Eddie Kingston<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Two longtime veterans clash in this opening round match-up, as “The Zombie Princess” Jimmy Jacobs<\/strong> looks to battle an old rival in Eddie Kingston<\/strong>. Jacobs and Kingston had wars in CHIKARA<\/strong> back in 2014, as well as multiple other indies, most recently clashing last year in AAW at\u00a0Path of Redemption<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<\/em>that saw the “Mad King” take Jacobs out.<\/p>\n

AAW Tag Team Championship: LAX (Santana & Ortiz) vs. The Besties in the World (Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In non-tournament action, AAW Tag Team Champions LAX<\/strong> – who are now free agents after departing IMPACT Wrestling – put their titles on the line against former 2x AAW Tag Team Champions The Besties in the World<\/strong>.
