As the words finished coming out of his mouth, in walked NWA legend<strong> Tully Blanchard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"AEW - The Road to All Out - Episode 01\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/C8sKy0veFfY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Following a chairshot to <strong>Cody Rhodes<\/strong>&#8216; head\u00a0(per the interview, Spears stated it was done due to the younger Rhodes brother <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Perfec10n\/status\/1145168301498216450\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">referring to him as a &#8220;good hand&#8221;<\/a> in a previous video), Spears decided it was time to show one of his bosses that he was much more than that. After challenging Rhodes to a showdown at\u00a0<em>All Out<\/em>, he revealed that his new Executive Advisor was one of the original <strong>Four Horsemen<\/strong>, Tully Blanchard.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-35921\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/fourhorsemen-e1547955737233.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"393\"><\/p>\n<p>Tully Blanchard enjoyed a 30-year career in the squared circle, starting off in 1975 with his father <strong>Joe Blanchard<\/strong> in San Antonio, that lead him to become one of the NWA&#8217;s biggest stars of the 1980s. Allied with <strong>Ric Flair, Arn Anderson<\/strong> and <strong>Ole Anderson<\/strong> (and later <strong>Barry Windham<\/strong>) in the Four Horsemen, Tully collected a lot of gold. A 3x NWA World Television Champion, NWA National Heavyweight Champion, and 2x NWA World Tag Team Champion alongside Arn Anderson. During a brief stint in WWF in the 1980s, he and Arn also captured the WWF World Tag Team titles under the guidance of <strong>Bobby &#8220;The Brain&#8221; Heenan<\/strong>. Between Heenan and <strong>James J. Dillon<\/strong> (the Horsemen&#8217;s manager), Blanchard learned first hand the power of a manager can bring to the table.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-50690\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/07\/Tully_11_L.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"386\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/07\/Tully_11_L.jpg 386w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/07\/Tully_11_L-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/07\/Tully_11_L-324x420.jpg 324w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 386px) 100vw, 386px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>AEW confirmed the signing of Tully Blanchard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allelitewrestling.com\/post\/shawn-spears-secures-wrestling-legend-tully-blanchard-as-exclusive-advisor-in-aew\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in a press release on Thursday<\/a>, stating that Blanchard, the father of current IMPACT star <strong>Tessa Blanchard<\/strong>, to a &#8220;multi show agreement&#8221; and mentioned the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShawn Spears\u2019 new advisor Tully Blanchard is a legendary retired wrestler and a canny tactician known worldwide for his vicious streak and penchant for chicanery. Given the challenge that Shawn has issued to Cody for a match at ALL OUT as well as the long, bitter history between Tully and the Rhodes family, plus Shawn\u2019s recent behavior in AEW, it appears that Tully Blanchard has a great deal of influence over Shawn\u2019s intents and actions.
