{"id":48480,"date":"2019-06-14T09:30:32","date_gmt":"2019-06-14T13:30:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/?p=48480"},"modified":"2019-06-14T10:12:52","modified_gmt":"2019-06-14T14:12:52","slug":"nacion-lucha-libre-alberto-el-patron","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2019\/06\/14\/nacion-lucha-libre-alberto-el-patron\/","title":{"rendered":"Alberto El Patron &#038; Chavo Guerrero Jr. Announce Naci\u00f3n Lucha Libre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday, former WWE Superstars <strong>Alberto El Patron<\/strong> (aka Alberto Del Rio) and <strong>Chavo Guerrero Jr.<\/strong> announced the creation of a new wrestling promotion in Mexico,\u00a0<strong>Naci\u00f3n Lucha Libre.<\/strong>\u00a0Under the leadership of El Patron and Guerrero and with reportedly solid financial backing,\u00a0Naci\u00f3n Lucha Libre hopes to show more honor to former lucha legends, as well as show more stars from Mexico&#8217;s independent scene. They seem intent on bringing the fight to Mexican lucha heavyweights <strong>Lucha Libre<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>AAA Worldwide (AAA)<\/strong> and <strong>Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL)<\/strong>. While other Mexican promotions, such as <strong>The Crash Lucha<\/strong> and the hardcore <strong>Desastre Total Ultraviolento (DTU)<\/strong>, have found success being content being below the big companies,\u00a0Naci\u00f3n is looking to start a change in Mexican wrestling. They&#8217;ve already secured a national television deal with Imagen TV, the network that also airs one-hour versions of WWE&#8217;s <em><strong>Raw<\/strong> <\/em>and <em><strong>SmackDown<\/strong><\/em>. The first show will air in their timeslot of Sunday nights at 10:30 pm starting on July 13.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/NacionLucha\/status\/1138671902296293377<\/p>\n<p>The first show was announced for Friday, July 11 at\u00a0Sala de Armas in Mexico City, Mexico. While not as famous a venue as CMLL&#8217;s Arena Mexico or AAA&#8217;s Mexico City Arena, Sala de Armas was the home venue for <strong>Perros Aguayo Jr.<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Perros del Mal<\/strong> and <strong>Ultimo Dragon<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Toryumon Mexico<\/strong> promotions in the late 2000s. The opening card features a who&#8217;s who of some top stars &#8211; some of which work for AAA and\/or CMLL &#8211; as well as some underused stars from various independents. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.excelsior.com.mx\/adrenalina\/nacion-lucha-libre-llega-a-la-pantalla-de-imagen\/1318005\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">In a follow-up interview with Excelsior<\/a>, the news department for Imagen TV, Alberto stated that Naci\u00f3n hoped to run their &#8220;season-ending show&#8221; at the MGM Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the same venue where <strong>All Elite Wrestling (AEW)<\/strong> just ran their debut PPV,\u00a0<em><strong>Double or Nothing.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_48630\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-48630\" style=\"width: 388px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-48630\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/06\/D8y-MMeWwAI7GzX-e1560487247778.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"388\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-48630\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Naci\u00f3n Lucha Libre<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As for the company&#8217;s schedule, in another interview, Alberto stated they planned on 35 shows a year, mostly throughout Mexico, but also in Texas and Vegas. In August, they will honor Fantasma, father of popular current Mexican star <strong>El Hijo de Fantasma<\/strong> (aka <strong>Lucha Underground<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>King Cuerno<\/strong>).
