As <strong>Enzo &amp; Big Cass<\/strong>, they were the perfect combination of wiley, diminutive hype man (Enzo) and tall powerhouse (Big Cass) &#8211; Enzo&#8217;s rapid-fire mic work was a smorgasbord of catchphrases and repeat-along lines that had the audience eating of his hands, and his hot tag to Big Cass &#8211; who usually had to clean up the messes that Enzo&#8217;s mouth created &#8211; was a guaranteed pop for the WWE Universe. But then things went sour. First, injuries began to creep in, then reports of Enzo&#8217;s backstage behavior, followed by a shift to\u00a0<em><strong>205 Live<\/strong><\/em><em>,\u00a0<\/em>where his athleticism (or rather lack-there-of) became painfully apparent alongside such cruiserweight stars as\u00a0<strong>Neville, Cedric Alexander\u00a0<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Mustafa Ali<\/strong>. Big Cass returned from injury into a seemingly random feud for the newly unretired\u00a0<strong>Daniel Bryan.\u00a0<\/strong>Enzo <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/01\/22\/enzo-amore-reportedly-suspended-rape-allegations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">became the suspect in an alleged rape case<\/a>, while Big Cass&#8217; own backstage behavior also became an issue and soon they were both gone from the WWE &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/01\/23\/enzo-amore-released-by-wwe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Enzo Amore was released in January of 2018<\/a>, while <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/06\/19\/breaking-big-cass-released-by-the-wwe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Big Cass followed suit in June.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_44132\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-44132\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-44132\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/04\/960-2-e1555105481491.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"388\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-44132\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: WWE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Enzo remained quiet for much of 2019, as the investigation into the alleged sexual misconduct was underway, while Big Cass prepared to head to the indies, somewhere he hadn&#8217;t been since 2011 and his early days with <strong>World of Unpredictable Wrestling (WUW)<\/strong> in New York City. By the time of Cass&#8217; release, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prowrestlingsheet.com\/enzo-amore-investigation-dropped\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the charges against Enzo were dropped<\/a>, but he seemed to be finished with sports entertainment and was pursuing a hip-hop career instead. To make matters worse, Cass and Enzo were no longer on speaking terms, having fallen out during their last year in the WWE. But all that changed this past December.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/briantheguppie\/status\/1061443457972084736<\/p>\n<p>Big Cass returned to the indies in November of 2018, first with <strong>Big Time Wrestling<\/strong> at shows in Massachusetts\u00a0and New York. Cass returned looking out of shape and seemed destined to remain languishing on lower level indies. It almost seemed like the fire was gone. And then in December, he was booked with <strong>Tommy Dreamer<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>House of Hardcore<\/strong>, in a match against former WWE Superstar <strong>MVP<\/strong>. Following the match, while signing autographs later in the show, he suffered a seizure and had to be taken to the hospital. Tommy Dreamer quickly assured everyone it wasn&#8217;t drug related and prayed for his health. And when news hit his former tag team partner Enzo, sitting at home, it started a path to reconciliation.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffc to my heater<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; REAL1 (FKA Enzo Amore) (@real1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/real1\/status\/1071621368767238144?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">December 9, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s been well-publicized that Cass had a health scare and suffered a seizure at a House of Hardcore wrestling event,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/wrestling\/2019\/04\/12\/wwe-enzo-big-cass-roh-return-nzo-cazxl-free-agentz\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Enzo told Sports Illustrated<\/a> in a recent interview. &#8220;Once I saw that footage, I thought about my friend\u2014a guy I traveled the world with and had experiences that I can\u2019t share with any other human\u2014and I couldn\u2019t risk losing that forever. Pride aside, I reached out.&#8221; That reaching out led to the former two &#8220;Certified G&#8217;s&#8221; reconnecting and re-igniting their fires to not only return to the ring but reunite together as a tag team once again. They hit the gyms and got back into shape, and on Saturday, April 6, in New York City &#8211; their old stomping grounds &#8211; they made their return in as big as way as they could. By crashing the NJPW\/ROH G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Enzo and Cass run in at the G1\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kWZsngzKLFA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Following the end of the titles-for-titles match that saw <strong>Bullet Club<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Guerrillas of Destiny<\/strong> (Tama Tonga &amp; Tanga Loa) retain the IWGP Tag Team titles and win the Ring of Honor World Tag Team titles, Enzo and Big Cass attacked the losing teams, particularly ROH&#8217;s <strong>PCO &amp; Brody King<\/strong> and the <strong>Briscoe Brothers<\/strong>. Other ROH personnel rushed to the ringside, including <strong>Bully Ray<\/strong>, to fight back the &#8220;invasion&#8221;. While Enzo &amp; Big Cass were fought off, they had made their statement. We have all the right in the world to promote ourselves shamelessly and have as much fun as we want. They want to wrestle anyone and everyone, anywhere in the world.
