But sadly, not every professional wrestler has the support network and financial means via the WWE to combat this disease should it enter their lives.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41697\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41697\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-41697\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/dqjslnju8aa3xl2-e1553011732482.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"369\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-41697\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: WWE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Such is the case with Maryland indie wrestling veteran RJ Beyer. Best known as <strong>The Bruiser<\/strong>, a 22 year pro with <strong>Maryland Championship Wrestling<\/strong> (now <strong>MCW Pro<\/strong>), Beyer went to his doctor last week feeling physically down, but thought it was just the usual rigors of a two+ decade career inside the ring. But what the doctors found out was much, much worse. Beyer was diagnosed with\u00a0Acute Myeloid Leukemia, or AML. According to Wikipedia, AML is a &#8220;cancer\u00a0of the\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Myeloid\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Myeloid\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">myeloid<\/a>\u00a0line of\u00a0blood cells, characterized by the rapid growth of abnormal cells that build up in the\u00a0bone marrow and\u00a0<a title=\"Blood\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blood\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">b<\/a>l<a title=\"Blood\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blood\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ood<\/a>\u00a0and interfere with\u00a0normal blood cells&#8221;.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We watched <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WWERomanReigns?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@WWERomanReigns<\/a> beat leukemia, and now it\u2019s time for another family member to follow suit. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MCWWrestling?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@MCWWrestling<\/a>\u2019s RJ Meyer is an outstanding Father, beloved mentor, &amp; tremendous human. According to the GoFundMe&#8217;s page, &#8220;the purpose of this Go Fund Me is to help RJ with his medical and personal expenses over the next several months or longer so that he can concentrate on getting healthy and worry less about finances.\u00a0 \u00a0Post-remission therapy can last for an extended period of time and RJ will likely be unable to return to his work as an electrician or wrestler in the foreseeable future.\u00a0 \u00a0Right now, he is receiving in-patient treatment, but he will have extensive out-patient follow up care afterwards.\u00a0 The funds raised here will help him to cover what insurance does not pay for, as well as provide for his children and his own needs.\u00a0 At his request, this is the only authorized Go Fund Me established on his behalf.\u00a0 He will have sole access to any funds raised through this fundraiser.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FMCWProWrestling%2Fvideos%2F328287588034378%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Trained by <strong>Axl Rotten<\/strong> and <strong>Corporal Punishment<\/strong> in 1997, Bruiser has spent nearly his entire 21-year career as a regular with MCW Pro, where he&#8217;s a former 10x MCW Heavyweight Champion, 4x MCW Tag Team Champion, and MCW Rage Television Champion. His last run as MCW Heavyweight Champion ended last July, and his last match was this past February, where he attempted to reclaim the belt for an 11th time (unsuccessfully) at MCW&#8217;s Anniversary show.
