Formed in 2016 in association with <strong>New York Wrestling Connection (NYWC)<\/strong>, they&#8217;ve become a fun party vibe atmosphere with some great wrestling, as the LGBTQ community has emerged as a confident and proud part of pro wrestling after decades of having to remain in silence or the shadows. They&#8217;re holding their first WrestleMania week event this year on Thursday April 4 at Lucky Cheng&#8217;s nightclub in New York City at 7pm. And we all know that nothing\u00a0<em>ever\u00a0<\/em>goes wrong at wrestling weddings right? The opening of the event will feature the wedding ceremony between two US indie stars in <strong>Ricky Cataldo Jr.<\/strong> of the <strong>Fella Twins<\/strong> and <strong>Vinny Pacifico<\/strong>, who has been an emerging star who has been working dark matches for <strong>Ring of Honor<\/strong> of late. The entire ceremony is being officiated by former WWE Superstar <strong>Terri Runnels<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Corrine Mink vs. DJ Summers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41747\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41747\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-41747\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/D1-v93wWkAA_2RA-e1553042188727.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-41747\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Matter of Pride\/NYWC<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Corrine Mink<\/strong> is an emerging star from the New Jersey area, who has wrestled for <strong>WrestlePro<\/strong> and is the reigning <strong>United Pro Wrestling Association (UPWA)<\/strong> Women&#8217;s Champion, a title she&#8217;s held over 300 days. She&#8217;s facing <strong>DJ Summers<\/strong>, an up-and-coming wrestler who&#8217;s worked for <strong>Just Pro Wrestling (JPW)<\/strong> and <strong>Wrestle League<\/strong> in Chicago, as well as being a regular with A Matter of Pride.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Big Gay Street Fight: EFFY vs. Billy Dixon<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41537\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41537\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-41537\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/D1e1xZCXgAYFRJY-e1552944944979.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-41537\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: LGBTQ Wrestling<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Only 23 years old, <strong>Billy Dixon<\/strong> has been a rising star on the US indies and on Thursday he&#8217;ll be entering a &#8220;Big Gay Street Fight&#8221; against one of the most notorious trouble makers in the US indies in <strong>EFFY<\/strong>. EFFY is a 5-year pro that gained notoriety last year when <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/08\/26\/andnew-bayley-superfan-izzy-wins-punk-pro-wrestling-internet-championship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">he lost his title to Bayley superfan <strong>Izzy<\/strong><\/a> but has also honed his craft with the likes of <strong>FEST Wrestling, Freelance Wrestling, Full Impact Pro, Southern Underground Pro<\/strong> and <strong>Premiere Wrestling Xperience (PWX)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>AC Mack vs. Jake Atlas<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41535\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41535\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-41535\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/D1e1ve5XgAEG7c8-e1552944811604.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-41535\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: LGBTQ Wrestling<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A clash of two rising stars in the US indies, <strong>AC Mack<\/strong> is one of the hot young grapplers out of the rising Southern scene. He&#8217;s a regular with <strong>Peachstate Wrestling Alliance<\/strong> and <strong>Anarchy Wrestling<\/strong>, but it&#8217;s in <strong>ACTION Wrestling<\/strong> where he&#8217;s reached his greatest success as the inaugural ACTION Champion. <strong>Jake Atlas<\/strong> is hitting the East Coast with a vengeance, as one of the West Coast&#8217;s top stars right now. But the\u00a0<em>joshi<\/em> star is facing someone who paved the way for such a dream to be realized in <strong>Marriah Moreno<\/strong>. As <strong>Ashley<\/strong> &#8220;The Blood Thirsty Vixen&#8221;, Moreno was the first transgender wrestler in pro wrestling, when she made her debut in 2011.\u00a0Moreno also won a title, winning the WILD Women\u2019s Championship from <strong>Lucky O\u2019Shea<\/strong> in 2011, in the now defunct\u00a0<strong>World Independent Ladies Division (WILD)<\/strong>\u00a0Wrestling promotion in California.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sonny Kiss vs. Melina<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41541\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41541\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-41541\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/D1GQ8uDW0AE_oT6-e1552945007339.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-41541\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: LGBTQ Wrestling<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Speaking of AEW, another recent AEW signee is indie star <strong>Sonny Kiss<\/strong>. Sonny Kiss has been trailblazing on his own for years since he debuted in 2015. The flamboyant one has been a regular with New York&#8217;s <strong>Warriors of Wrestling (WOW)<\/strong> since his debut and is the reigning WOW Heavyweight Champion. Aside from working the likes of <strong>Beyond Wrestling<\/strong>, <strong>New York Wrestling Connection (NYWC), Freelance Wrestling<\/strong> and more, Kiss joined Lucha Underground for Season Four as <strong>XO Lishus<\/strong>. Sonny Kiss is facing a women&#8217;s wrestling legend in former 5x WWE Women&#8217;s Champion <strong>Melina Perez<\/strong> (3x WWE Women&#8217;s Champion and 2x WWE Divas Champion).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Chris Kanyon Memorial Battle Royal for Matter of Pride Championship<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41539\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41539\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-41539\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/D1f30DwWkAIkmZI-e1552944900431.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-41539\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: LGBTQ Wrestling<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The main event will be the <strong>Chris Kanyon<\/strong> Memorial Battle Royal, named after the former WCW and WWE Superstar who was one of the earliest openly gay wrestlers in the industry. Sadly, Kanyon committed suicide in 2010 (three years after his retirement in 2007) and never got to see the advancement of the LGBTQ community in pro wrestling that we have in 2019. To celebrate his life, A Matter of Pride is having a battle royal in his honor, that will feature all the winners from the night&#8217;s matches.
