Some are veterans revitalizing their careers, some are indie prospects hitting their peaks, while others are names to be on the watch for! This edition looks at the leader of the #YoureGonnaNoticeUs and #NowWeConquer movements, as well as one of Australia&#8217;s leading performers, &#8216;The Rapscallion&#8217; Mick Moretti.<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1551570941722_300\">As a professional wrestler evolving and reinventing one\u2019s persona is crucial to long-term success. On the international stage, there have been prime examples of this from <strong>Chris Jericho, The Undertaker, <\/strong>and<strong> Matt Hardy<\/strong>. Here on the Australian circuit though <strong>Mick Moretti<\/strong> is the one man who embodies this process more than any other. Throughout his career, Moretti has consistently evolved the moniker and persona attached to the Mick Moretti name, with the latest iteration \u2018The Rapscallion\u2019 now seeing him connect with audiences like never before and begin to break out internationally.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_39786\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39786\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-39786\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/2253_original.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"425\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/2253_original.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/2253_original-212x300.jpg 212w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/2253_original-296x420.jpg 296w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-39786\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A young Moretti in his earlier days<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After discovering wrestling as a youngster Moretti, who describes himself as \u201ca bit of\u00a0a showman\u201d, realized that there was much more to professional wrestling than simply the athletic aspect. \u201cThere are so many things that make wrestling wrestling, it\u2019s a combination of athleticism, storytelling, art, combat and so many other things rolled into one,\u201d Moretti explained, \u201cThere are so many ways to deliver it and put on a professional wrestling match, there is no one way that it should or shouldn\u2019t be done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once Moretti realized that he could combine all of the different aspects of professional wrestling in order to entertain an audience he couldn\u2019t resist stepping between the ropes to begin training.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Robbie Eagles vs Mick Moretti - World Heritage Series\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NcNaETB4B0M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Looking back on those early years, where Moretti performed as \u2018Mint Condition\u2019 Mick Moretti, he now realizes how that particular persona was a reflection of him \u201cfinding his way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After performing as \u2018Mint Condition\u2019 for a few years Moretti realized it was time to evolve the character so he then became \u2018The Green Dragon\u2019 Mick Moretti. \u201cThe \u2018Green Dragon\u2019 transition came in 2012 because that was the year of the dragon, which is also my year of birth. So being born in the year of the dragon I decided I was a dragon, then carried over the green from \u2018Mint Condition\u2019 and added a more aggressive presence to my style.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_39787\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39787\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-39787\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/11057286_1627847227503108_5236170739070878209_n-e1551681250751.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-39787\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: New Photography Studio \/ twitter.com\/NewPhotography<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Now Moretti has again evolved his character, this time in order to inject more of his true personality. \u201cThe \u2018Rapscallion\u2019 is a lot of my true nature, I\u2019m a bit of a larrikin, a bit of a goof and I like to stir up trouble and make mischief.\u201d According to Moretti, this latest persona is the most fun yet. \u201cI let loose. Sometimes I don\u2019t even plan things, I just go out there and whatever happens, happens. I wanted the whole world to look at the Australian wrestling scene because I don\u2019t want us to have to leave the country to try and find fame.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite realizing that there was a need for a unified Australian wrestling voice\/message Moretti initially had reservations about creating the hashtags. \u201cI was in two minds about the whole thing initially because I was worried that it seemed corny or tacky but then I realized that was ridiculous and said fuck it! You\u2019ve got to at least try.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"FULL MATCH - Slex vs Brian Cage vs Mick Moretti vs Brodie Marshall: International Assault 2K18\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OTDYrOzM6SQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Since then though the movements have been incredibly successful because of the unified message, with not only the wrestlers but also the fans latching onto the slogans as well. \u201cEach one of us individually might have a couple of hundred or couple of thousand followers but if we all push the same message out then all of a sudden we\u2019re finding more people and bringing more eyes back home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In part thanks to the movements Moretti created, Australian wrestlers such as <strong>Robbie Eagles, Jonah Rock, Adam Brooks, Kyle Fletcher, FaceBrooke, Indi Hartwell, Jack J. Bonza, Adam Hoffman<\/strong>, and Moretti himself have seen incredible success internationally over the past few years.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_39789\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39789\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-39789\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/maxresdefault-e1551681307524.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-39789\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: CHIKARA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The biggest achievement last year for Moretti, and his Four Nations stablemates Bonza and Hoffman, was making it through to the finals of the prestigious <em><strong>Chikara<\/strong><\/em> <em>King of Trios<\/em> tournament. \u201cJust to be in King of Trios was a massive step forward, and to make the finals was surreal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"#PWAC2A18 4 Nations Vs The Velocities FULL MATCH\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5RtR8QzLxD0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead to the future Moretti realises there are ample opportunities for Australian talents to continue to ride the momentum and achieve great things in 2019 and beyond. \u201cYou\u2019ve got all of these indie superstars being signed now. So that\u2019s creating opportunities for the fresh faces and the new up and comers to become the next big stars. There are people in Australia now that are already at the top of their game but deserve more recognition such as; <strong>Caveman Ugg, Slex <\/strong>and<strong> Davis Storm<\/strong>. Then you look at the next wave and you see the Velo-Cities (<strong>Paris De Silva <\/strong>&amp;<strong> Jude London<\/strong>), <strong>Matty Wahlberg, Ricky South, Kai Drake, Luchi<\/strong> and<strong> Big Fudge<\/strong>. Just those guys here that I see at training multiple times per week, every week, you see how much it pays off in the performances that they\u2019re putting on.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Catch Up on
