Her size and strength make her a presence to be feared in the ring, and her animated character has helped her to become a standout icon. Her story is a great inspiration, as she got her start after appearing on a TV show called <em>Discovery Health Body Challenge<\/em>. She professed her goal to lose weight and become a professional wrestler. And after some\u00a0time\u00a0training in California, she was invited to wrestle for the legendary\u00a0joshi\u00a0promotion <strong>All Japan Woman\u2019s Pro-Wrestling (AJW)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37867\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/02\/df929c7cbd855fee7b3c4fb548593a3674e9055f_hq-e1549674226340.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"404\" height=\"500\"><\/p>\n<p>In Japan, Stevens was given the name <strong>Amazing Kong<\/strong>. She worked as a stand-in for Japanese legend <strong>Aja Kong<\/strong>, who had recently left AJW. The training that Stevens received was very tough on her body, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=75E723UkA2U\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">as she has elaborated on in interviews<\/a>. Miscues in the ring caused her to lose part of her tongue and work on a sprained ankle for months. But she stuck with the sport that she loved, and soon found success. Amazing Kong won her first title \u2013 the WWWA World Single Championship \u2013 only two years into her career.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7zScWKaQdBo<\/p>\n<p>Soon afterward, Amazing Kong began wrestling alongside Aja Kong at a different\u00a0joshi\u00a0promotion, <strong>GAEA<\/strong>. They formed the team of <strong>W Kong<\/strong> and won the AAAW Tag Team Championship. They then went on to tackle intergender wrestling, winning the <strong>Hustle<\/strong> Tag Team Championship from a male-dominated roster. Throughout Stevens\u2019s five-year run in Japan, she made waves everywhere she went. She was even asked to main event GAEA\u2019s final show before the promotion closed.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Awesome Kong vs Aja Kong Womens Wrestling Japan\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ufItIbRiaLw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Stevens then left Japan and returned to the United States to participate in <strong>SHIMMER<\/strong>. The women&#8217;s promotion became the most important one of its kind in North America. Current <strong>WWE<\/strong> stars such as <strong>Bayley\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Becky Lynch<\/strong> started in SHIMMER, and\u00a0Amazing Kong played a pivotal\u00a0role in its success. Many of the promotion&#8217;s most renowned matches feature Amazing Kong against other top indie stars. Some are\u00a0<strong>Mercedes Martinez<\/strong>, <strong>Serena Deeb<\/strong>, <strong>Cheerleader Melissa<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>MsChif<\/strong>.\u00a0MsChif\u2019s\u00a0rivalry with Amazing Kong also extended past SHIMMER, as the two battled on multiple <strong>NWA<\/strong> shows. This success allowed Stevens to branch to other promotions such as <strong>Women Superstars Uncensored<\/strong>, Britain\u2019s <strong>Real Quality Wrestling<\/strong>, and finally <strong>Total Nonstop Action\u00a0<\/strong>(known today as <strong>IMPACT<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SHIMMER Women&#039;s Wrestling - MsChif vs. Amazing Kong - April 2007 (SHIMMER Vol. 9)\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lb77XOAHsq8?start=12&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In TNA, the newly named <strong>Awesome Kong<\/strong> had a legendary feud with <strong>Gail Kim<\/strong>. Their No Disqualification match at the <em>Final Resolution<\/em>\u00a0pay-per-view in 2008 is described as one that \u201cinspired a whole new generation of women\u2019s wrestling.\u201d Kong cemented herself as a big name in many corners, capturing the IMPACT Knockouts Championship on two occasions. Thus, when <strong><em>Pro Wrestling Illustrated<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0launched its first list of the Top 50 Female Wrestlers, she was ranked number one.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IMKL-qZZTbE&#038;t=946s<\/p>\n<p>Awesome Kong\u2019s first TNA run featured many other big moments, including a Knockouts Tag Team Championship reign. After consistently stellar work with TNA, <strong>WWE<\/strong> took notice and recruited Stevens. Unfortunately, an unplanned pregnancy stopped WWE from moving forward with their plans for Stevens (who they renamed <strong>Kharma<\/strong>). However, Kharma still made an iconic appearance in the 2012 <em>Royal Rumble<\/em>. <strong>Michael Cole<\/strong> exited the Rumble after seeing Kharma charging the ring for him. She wrestled for promotions such as <strong>SHINE<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>SEAdLINNNG<\/strong>, and<strong> Oz Academy<\/strong> before making her latest appearance at <strong>Bar Wrestling<\/strong> in 2017.
