Melbourne City Wrestling (MCW) <\/b>returns to the Thornbury Theatre this Saturday. Following all of the fallout from the year beginning show Vendetta this weekends Uprising <\/i><\/b>only has a limited number of matches announced so far but a plethora of stories to check in on.<\/p>\n

Melbourne City Wrestling Uprising (2\/2\/19)<\/h1>\n

Following his victory over\u00a0Mike Burr\u00a0<\/strong>at\u00a0Vendetta <\/em>the MCW World Heavyweight Champion\u00a0Gino Gambino\u00a0<\/strong>was confronted by MCW Intercommonwealth Champion\u00a0Slex.\u00a0<\/strong>This weekend the two champions will be face to face for a contract signing to make their Champion versus Champion match for\u00a0Clash Of The Champions\u00a0<\/em>on March 16 official.<\/p>\n

While MCW Academy graduates Tyson<\/b> and Jett <\/b>had star-making performances in their Air Force Three Way match against Robbie Eagles<\/b> last month at Vendetta <\/i>they ultimately were unable to defeat the \u2018Sniper Of The Skies\u2019 individually. Shortly after the match, the rookies appear to have formed an alliance so which tag team will this dynamic duo be gunning for this weekend, could it be the newly crowned MCW Tag Team Champions\u00a0The Law (Dowie James & Adam Brooks)<\/strong>?<\/p>\n

\u2018Loverboy\u2019 Lochy Hendricks <\/b>is also likely to make an appearance as he continues to boast about being signed by Uncle Paul.<\/p>\n

Now onto the matches that we know are a certainty.<\/p>\n

Ritchie Taylor vs. Mike Burr<\/b><\/h3>\n

Both men are coming off gut-wrenching defeats at Vendetta<\/i>, Taylor losing to Jimmy Havoc <\/b>and Burr <\/b>failing to capture the MCW World Heavyweight Championship. With that in mind, both men are hoping to get their year back on track with a decisive victory in a match which sure to be a hard-hitting brawl.<\/p>\n

Avary vs. Indi Hartwell<\/b><\/h3>\n

At Vendetta <\/i>Hartwell continued to antagonize Avary by pushing her off the top rope and leading to Shazza McKenzie<\/b> picking up the win.<\/p>\n

These two ladies have been niggling away at each other for months now and the rivalry is becoming incredibly bitter. Expect these tensions to boil over in a vicious match as they finally get their hands on each other one on one.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mikey Nicholls vs. JK Moody<\/b><\/h3>\n

As announced at Vendetta <\/i>Mickey Nicholls <\/i><\/b>(formerly Nick Miller <\/b>in NXT<\/b>) is set to make his return to Australia, and MCW, after three long years. It would appear the TMDK founding member is returning with a new attitude, which could spell trouble for New Zealand\u2019s JK Moody.<\/b><\/p>\n

Moody established himself as a major player across the ditch in Southern Pro Wrestling (SPW) <\/b>and carried that momentum with him to MCW when he picked up a decisive debut victory against Ritchie Taylor at Fight To Survive <\/i>last September. Following that victory the man proclaimed MCW to be his house, can he defend his house and be \u201cThe Antidote\u201d he claims MCW needs against his toughest challenger to date?<\/p>\n

Stevie Filip vs. Tome Filip<\/b><\/h3>\n

In the main event, it\u2019s set to be a showdown of Brother versus Brother as a lifelong rivalry comes to head.<\/p>\n

Both young competitors have made an instant impact in MCW since their debuts in 2018.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tome Filip\u2019s <\/b>biggest victory coming last August at MCW 100 <\/i>when he picked up a victory in a six-pack challenge match, featuring the likes of Robbie Eagles, Bad Luck Fale <\/b>and JXT. <\/b>By winning that match Tome earned an opportunity to challenge for the championship of his choosing, but rather than going after singles glory he chose to target Tag Team gold with his at the time winless brother.<\/p>\n

Despite having a winless record Stevie Filip <\/b>had been making a name for himself in MCW by putting on spectacular matches every show, with his surprise match against Will Ospreay <\/b>being a standout performance.<\/p>\n

During the Natural Classics <\/b>championship match against The Brat Pack (Nick Bury & Mitch Waterman),\u00a0<\/b>Tome would shocking turn on his brother by kicking his injured leg out from under him. Since then the war of words between the brothers has become incredibly personal as Tome\u2019s jealousy over the \u201cStevie\u2019s Better\u201d chants continued to grow.<\/p>\n

On Saturday the brothers go to war to once and for all decide which Filip is better.<\/p>\n
