With Riddle now signed to NXT, a new host was announced for the second installment in New Jersey on Thursday, April 4, 2019, in the form of former UFC Heavyweight Champion <strong>Josh Barnett<\/strong>. Over the past few months, Barnett (and GCW) have been slowly revealing this year&#8217;s field of entrants in the renamed <em><strong>Josh Barnett&#8217;s Bloodsport<\/strong><\/em>, with the latest happening on Friday in the announcement of the return of <strong>New Japan Pro Wrestling<\/strong> star and <strong>Suzuki-Gun<\/strong> leader <strong>Minoru Suzuki<\/strong>. Here&#8217;s a round-up of the first seven names announced so far.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36483\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36483\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36483\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/DwFusGWW0AYEC3--e1548454215253.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36483\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett will be competing as well as hosting (like his predecessor\u00a0Matt Riddle), returning to the professional wrestling ring for the first time since last year, when he defeated <strong>Jeff Cobb<\/strong> at an <strong>Alternative Wrestling Show (AWS)<\/strong> event last spring. He also briefly worked with <strong>IMPACT Wrestling<\/strong> in a program with then IMPACT World Champion <strong>Bobby Lashley<\/strong> that January. Josh Barnett began his\u00a0MMA career in 1997 with<strong>United Full Contact Federation.\u00a0<\/strong>Following a\u00a0victory over\u00a0UFC Legend <strong>Dan &#8220;The Beast&#8221; Severn<\/strong> at <em><strong>Superbrawl 16<\/strong><\/em> in\u00a02000, he joined the\u00a0UFC, making his debut at <em><strong>UFC 28<\/strong><\/em> that November. His last fight was in 2016, also a submission victory under three minutes, against <strong>Andrei Arlovski<\/strong> at <em><strong>UFC Fight Night<\/strong><\/em> in Hamburg, Germany. His MMA record stands at 35 wins and 8 losses. Barnett has been involved in the world of pro wrestling since 2003 when he debuted with NJPW. He spent two years with New Japan before becoming a longtime regular with <strong>Antonio Inoki<\/strong>&#8216;s new promotion, <strong>Inoki Genome Federation (IGF)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36490\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36490\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36490\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/DwFutxhW0AAzNzT-e1548454329829.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36490\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Timothy Thatcher<\/strong> returns for his second\u00a0<em>Bloodsport\u00a0<\/em>appearance after fighting on the inaugural card last year. The tag partner of WALTER in Ringkampf, Thatcher is a former <strong>EVOLVE<\/strong> Champion and <strong>Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw)<\/strong> Tag Team Champion. Last year, Thatcher lost his fight against <strong>Nick Gage<\/strong> by knockout and will be looking to fare better this time around.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36484\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36484\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36484\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/DwFuugSX4AASBkd-e1548454353583.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36484\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He may be the smallest competitor announced so far, but <strong>Ring of Honor<\/strong>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/11\/10\/the-time-is-now-jonathan-gresham-on-the-cusp-of-superstardom-videos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jonathan Gresham<\/strong> is a master of the technical game<\/a>. What he lacks in power, he more than makes up with smarts and athleticism, and if &#8220;The Octopus&#8221; can get someone down to the mat, Gresham gets the advantage.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36482\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36482\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36482\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/DwFus-EX0AMgixp-e1548454469497.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36482\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A student of legendary catch wrestling icon Billy Robinson from the UK, 38-year old Hideki Suzuki makes his US debut at this year&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Bloodsport.\u00a0<\/em>A star with <strong>Big Japan Wrestling (BJW)<\/strong>, he&#8217;s a former 2x BJW Strong World Heavyweight Champion, he&#8217;s also a former fighter for Inoki&#8217;s IGF, where he faced Josh Barnett in 2011. Last year, Lawlor faced the Austrian brute WALTER in defeat, but last year, not many people scored wins over one of 2018&#8217;s most successful wrestlers internationally. Since then, Lawlor has become the face of <strong>Major League Wrestling (MLW<\/strong>) and depending on how his MLW World Championship match against<strong> Low-Ki<\/strong> at <em><strong>MLW Superfight<\/strong> <\/em>on February 2 turns out, he could be walking into Bloodsport a World Champion.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36486\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36486\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36486\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/DwpqTZyXQAARNP--e1548454384767.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36486\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Making his pro wrestling debut at\u00a0<em>Bloodsport<\/em> is another former UFC Heavyweight Champion, <strong>Frank Mir<\/strong>, who still competes in MMA for <strong>Bellator<\/strong>. He&#8217;s touched on the world of pro wrestling before, albeit in a UFC ring, as a two time opponent against current WWE Universal Champion <strong>Brock Lesnar<\/strong>, going 1-1 against &#8220;The Beast Incarnate&#8221;.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36487\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36487\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36487\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/DxO7ih0XgAALGcJ-e1548454397850.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36487\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dan &#8220;The Beast&#8221; Severn is an MMA Legend, a former UFC Superfight Champion and 2x <strong>National Wrestling Alliance (NWA)<\/strong> World&#8217;s Heavyweight Champion. The 50-year held the IWGP Intercontinental Championship and NEVER Openweight Championship last year in NJPW and is one half of the <strong>Revolution Pro (RevPro)<\/strong> British Tag Team Champions with Suzuki-gun protege <strong>Zack Sabre Jr<\/strong>.
