While he was a rising indie star with <strong>Maryland Championship Wrestling<\/strong> (now MCW Pro) for a year between 2014 and 2015, the Artist Formerly Known as <strong>Patrick Clark<\/strong> has essentially been a homegrown\u00a0star from the WWE Performance Center since he joined the WWE in 2016. With several gimmick changes and enhancement roles (as Patrick Clark) on NXT television, he finally officially debuted as the Velveteen Dream in the spring of 2017.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Velveteen Dream Utilizes Recent News Into Curious Tweets<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36076\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36076\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36076\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/91165a3c5b7c3313ca0732bf94aceca6_900_506-e1548123093603.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36076\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: WWE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But with his <strong>Prince<\/strong>-inspired character change, Dream was still very much a work in progress. With his outlandish appearance, his bizarre presentation, and matches against the likes of <strong>Raul Mendoza, Cezar Bonan<\/strong>i, and<strong> Ho Ho Lun<\/strong>, he didn&#8217;t exactly set the world on fire. But that all changed when he began to get under the skin of <strong>Aleister Black<\/strong> and had one of the WWE&#8217;s matches of the year at <em><strong>NXT TakeOver: WarGames<\/strong><\/em> that November against Black. Suddenly, the world was watching.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=iiCBjm0OkmA<\/p>\n<p>In early 2018, he became a star, and he began to gain more notice in matches against <strong>Johnny Gargano<\/strong> and wins over the likes of <strong>Trent Seve<\/strong>n and <strong>Tyler Bate<\/strong>, plus his participation in the classic 6-man match for the NXT North American Championship, against the likes of <strong>Ricochet, Adam Cole<\/strong> and <strong>EC3<\/strong>, followed by another show stealer against <strong>Ricochet<\/strong> at <strong><em>NXT TakeOver: Chicago II<\/em><\/strong>. Since then, rumors have run rampant <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2019\/01\/16\/the-revival-reportedly-request-release-from-wwe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">that the Raw tag team has requested their release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/DashWilderWWE\/status\/1069792017528557568<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Velveteen Dream: Finding His Worth<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Speaking of the Young Bucks, Dream sent out another tweet on Monday afternoon, that seemed to play on some recent comments from <strong>Matt Jackson<\/strong> of the Bucks. While the main takeaway was that the Dream was in a state of protest (stemming from his recent anger at not being included in the latest round of recruits from NXT to <em><strong>Raw<\/strong><\/em> or <em><strong>SmackDown<\/strong><\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/VelveteenWWE\/status\/1087402577304657920<\/p>\n<p>But the comments on knowing &#8220;MY WORTH&#8221; comes off of <a href=\"https:\/\/chicago.cbslocal.com\/2019\/01\/17\/young-bucks-nick-matt-jackson-turn-down-wwe-all-elite-wrestling-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a recent interview with the Young Bucks by CBS 2 in Chicago<\/a>, where Matt Jackson divulged details of the Bucks negotiations with the WWE prior to the announcement of All Elite Wrestling. &#8220;I\u2019ll tell you this. For a moment, I thought that we would probably be going to WWE. That was the closest that it\u2019s ever come to us going there, for sure. And they were great. They were respectful, and they told us what our value was,&#8221; Jackson told Chuck Carroll. &#8220;I think it was really like a wake-up call for us. It was almost like, wow. It\u2019s good to be wanted. By taking on the face that has run the WWE for the past 15 years.
