I\u2019ve worked my ass off to rehabilitate &amp; have physically been greenlit. My body is in the best shape it\u2019s been in in years &amp; I\u2019m the lightest I\u2019ve been in 20 years. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XE1GzBP58A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/t.co\/XE1GzBP58A<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; MATT HARDY (@MATTHARDYBRAND) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MATTHARDYBRAND\/status\/1087068559405010944?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">January 20, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The shocking part was because back in September of 2018, Matt Hardy &#8211; in the midst of a run as &#8220;Woken&#8221; Matt Hardy alongside <strong>Bray Wyatt<\/strong> in the <strong>Deleters of Worlds<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/09\/16\/matt-hardy-finishes-in-ring-career-with-wwe-time-for-me-to-go-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced via YoutTube that he was &#8220;going home&#8221;<\/a> and that that was probably the last time the WWE Universe had seen &#8220;Woken&#8221; Matt Hardy in a WWE ring.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"TIME TO GO HOME\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/y8_a4nUlUqU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Matt Hardy had been battling a series of niggling injuries &#8211; including one in that his lower spine and pelvic bones were starting to fuse together due to a long-standing injury &#8211; and was beginning to work backstage in a producer\/agent role in the WWE. Many fans began to wonder if indeed his in-ring days were over and he&#8217;d transition to a backstage role in the company that gave him his first major opportunity in the 1990s.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36059\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36059\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36059\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/9d9be27018da544bd7f7950150e3a030-e1548120448656.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36059\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: WWE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But during a fan Q &amp; A on his YouTube channel, Hardy suggested that if he couldn&#8217;t retire in the WWE, it wouldn&#8217;t be the be-all or end-all:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cWith that being said, I\u2019m not naive enough to say \u2018I will never leave WWE,\u2019 anything is possible in this world, we don\u2019t live in a perfect world, we don\u2019t live in a perfect scenario. Sure, could I see myself going back to\u00a0IMPACT Wrestling or Ring of Honor, if something didn\u2019t work with the scheduling, or whatever the job was, if it conflicted with my family and I could do a shot here and there, kind of have my own schedule, almost like a\u00a0Chris Jericho\u00a0does? Sure, it\u2019s a possibility.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36065\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36065\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36065\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/43ef825314536e9761c8b6fb68fd18a9_crop_north-696x464-e1548120501168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36065\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: IMPACT Wrestling<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At the time, <strong>Ring of Honor<\/strong> and <strong>IMPACT Wrestling<\/strong> &#8211; the two companies he&#8217;d worked with prior to his 2017 <strong>WrestleMania<\/strong> return as &#8220;Broken&#8221; Matt Hardy &#8211; seemed the most viable alternatives to a potential return should he ever get back to his regular healthy self. But since then, a lot has changed. For one, his dear friends, the Bucks of Youth &#8211; er, <strong>The Young Bucks<\/strong> &#8211; have gone on to help start up a new promotion, <strong>All Elite Wrestling<\/strong>. Matt Hardy &#8211; alongside his Brother Nero, Jeff Hardy &#8211; finished up their run with ROH in a series of classic matches against the Young Bucks before showing up at <em><strong>WrestleMania 33<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36066\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36066\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36066\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/expedition.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/expedition.jpg 600w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/01\/expedition-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36066\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: ROH<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But how likely is it that we see &#8220;Broken&#8221; Matt Hardy and Brother Nero in AEW? It could be more possible than one thinks. The Hardy brothers signed two-year deals with the WWE in 2017 when they rejoined the WWE, contracts that will run out just before the company&#8217;s biggest show of the year &#8211; <em><strong>WrestleMania 35<\/strong><\/em> in New York\/New Jersey.\u00a0\u201cI know that both of their deals will be up right before WrestleMania because they signed right before WrestleMania a couple of years ago,&#8221; <strong>Dave Meltzer<\/strong> said on a recent episode of <strong>Wrestling Observer Radio<\/strong>. But WWE won&#8217;t make it easy to depart the company in the current climate of AEW offering comparable monies. &#8220;I could see [WWE extending their contracts] right now. I don\u2019t know it, but it makes sense,&#8221; Meltzer went on to postulate. &#8220;I know they don\u2019t want Matt and Jeff Hardy as free agents right now, you know? The Hardy Boys going to AEW to feud with The Young Bucks?
