{"id":35485,"date":"2019-01-15T14:42:15","date_gmt":"2019-01-15T19:42:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/?p=35485"},"modified":"2019-01-15T14:42:15","modified_gmt":"2019-01-15T19:42:15","slug":"shane-strickland-announces-free-agency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2019\/01\/15\/shane-strickland-announces-free-agency\/","title":{"rendered":"Shane Strickland Announces Free Agency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Shane Strickland<\/strong> announced via his Twitter account, that today he is officially a free agent.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Officially a free agent again<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; The Realest Swerve Strickland (@swerveconfident) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/swerveconfident\/status\/1085165725805875200?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">January 15, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/11\/16\/wwes-january-performance-center-class-rumoured-to-have-some-big-names\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Originally rumored to be heading to <strong>WWE<\/strong> and <\/a><strong>NXT,<\/strong> there were delays in getting a contract signed, mainly the no-compete clause in Strickland&#8217;s <strong>Lucha Underground<\/strong> contract.\u00a0 Much like <strong>Ricochet<\/strong>&#8216;s\u00a0hold-up, the clause stated he would still be under contract to Lucha Underground for up to 90 days after the finale of Season 4 aired, but it appears he&#8217;s been able to get out of it early (the finale aired November 7, which would make his 90-day no compete ending on February 7).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Killshot vs. Dante Fox Highlights (Lucha Underground) - Antoriccioh Production\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZxR9qo75zaA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Strickland, who was unmasked as <strong>Killshot<\/strong> in Lucha Underground, previously won two Trios Championships with the company.\u00a0 He also worked with <strong>Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW)<\/strong> and had feuds with the likes of <strong>Lio Rush<\/strong>, <strong>Davey Richards<\/strong>,\u00a0and <strong>Rickey Shane Page<\/strong>.\u00a0 While with CZW, he secured\u00a0a CZW World Heavyweight title reign and two CZW Wired TV Championship reigns.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rj6sYZYw_E8<\/p>\n<p>In the three months since the finale of season four, he has been able to continue working with <strong>Major League Wrestling (MLW)<\/strong> and <strong>EVOLVE Wrestling<\/strong>.\u00a0 While all the signing with NXT rumors were happening, he was EVOLVE Champion,\u00a0having beat <strong>Matt Riddle<\/strong> in August.\u00a0 He lost the championship three months later to NXT talent <strong>Fabian Aichner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mllJEA66qcs<\/p>\n<p>A lot can happen in three months.\u00a0 Does Strickland still have an offer from WWE?
