Any Given Sunday<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0events have, in recent years, come to be known as the first major event of the new year for Smash Wrestling<\/strong>.\u00a0 Last year, we saw Vanessa Kraven<\/strong> interfere in a World title match that saw Frankie TM<\/strong> defeat Tyson Dux<\/strong>, and we saw the first ever Smash Tag Team Champions crowned, as the Well Oiled Machines<\/strong> defeated Tabernak De Team<\/strong> in what was an early Match of The Year Candidate.<\/p>\n

This year, Any Given Sunday is the seventh installment of the event, which in previous years has seen AJ Styles<\/strong>, Johnny Gargano<\/strong>, Chris Hero<\/strong>, Matt Cross<\/strong>, Candice LeRae<\/strong>, and many more notable names compete.\u00a0 Any Given Sunday 7<\/strong> <\/em>will be taped for the Fight Network<\/strong> and will be broadcast over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Puf vs. John Greed<\/strong><\/h3>\n

At In Your Dreams<\/strong><\/em> on December 16, Puf<\/strong> was the victim of a John Greed<\/strong> blindside attack.\u00a0 At Any Given Sunday,<\/em>\u00a0he has been given the chance to get a measure of revenge.\u00a0 On the other side, John Greed is fresh off a loss in a Smash World title opportunity\u00a0and is looking to get back on the winning track.<\/p>\n

Fight or Flight (Gabriel Fuerza & Vaughn Vertigo) vs. KILL\/SCREEN (Shane Sabre & Mark Wheeler) vs. Well Oiled Machines (Pepper Parks & Mike Rollins)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Last year, the Well Oiled Machines<\/strong> were fighting to be crowned the first ever Smash Wrestling Tag Team Champions.\u00a0 This year, they are fighting to get back into the title hunt picture.\u00a0 Their path to another shot at the tag team titles sees them in this triple threat match versus the returning Fight or Flight<\/strong> and the Scotty O’Shea followers Kill\/Screen,<\/strong>\u00a0who are both fighting to get their own names into the tag title picture.<\/p>\n

Matt Cross vs. Facade vs. Rey Horus<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Rey Horus<\/strong> makes his Smash wrestling debut in this match and has a tall order in front of him if he wants to be victorious.\u00a0 Standing across\u00a0from him in the ring will be non-other than former Smash Wrestling champion Matt Cross<\/strong> and another Smash Wrestling veteran in Facade<\/strong>.\u00a0 In can be predicted with almost certainty that this match will be a fast-paced, hard-hitting\u00a0affair, as all three of the competitors hold nothing back in their attempts to become victorious.<\/p>\n

Smash Tag Team Championship: The Pillars (Tyson Dux & Brent Banks) (c) vs. Halal Beefcake (Idris Abraham & Joe Coleman)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Pillars<\/strong> look to keep their hot streak from 2018 rolling.\u00a0 They will have to get through the duo of Joe Coleman<\/strong> and Idris Abraham<\/strong> first, as they face Halal Beefcake<\/strong> in their first Tag Title defense of 2019.\u00a0 Halal Beefcake recently aligned themselves with Kevin Bennett<\/strong> to form the new Kevin Bennett<\/strong>\u00a0Experience<\/strong>.\u00a0 At Heavy is The Head<\/strong><\/em> in Kitchener, we saw all four combatants in singles competition against each other but at Any Given Sunday<\/em> only one pinfall will matter, and the winner will be champions.<\/p>\n

Sebastian Suave vs. Jay Freddie<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Originally this was to be the fourth match in a best of five between Sebastian Suave<\/strong> and Daniel Garcia<\/strong>.\u00a0 Suave was leading the series two matches to one, but now due to a bad car accident, Garcia is unable to wrestle<\/a>.\u00a0 Garcia has personally picked US indie veteran\u00a0Jay Freddie<\/strong> to replace him in the match, which will also be Freddie’s Smash debut.\u00a0 He will need to topple one of the Pillars if he expects to leave Any Given Sunday victorious.\u00a0 Suave, on the other hand, has seen his stock soar in recent months in Ontario and Quebec, winning gold in both provinces.<\/p>\n

Smash Championship: Tarik (c) vs. Carter Mason<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Fresh off his title defense in Kitchener against John Greed<\/strong> and Matt Cross,\u00a0<\/strong>Tarik finds himself having to immediately\u00a0refocus on a surging Carter Mason<\/strong> as his next challenger.\u00a0 Mason finds himself with a title opportunity as a type of reward from Smash management.\u00a0 Mason filled at the last moment on several events and as such has earned the shot at Tarik, previously belonging to Kevin Bennett<\/strong>.\u00a0 Due to the Buffalo Brothers’ car accident, Bennett had to withdraw and now Mason doesn’t want to waste his biggest opportunity in Smash Wrestling to date.<\/p>\n

Barbed Wire Hell: Scotty O’Shea vs. Jimmy Havoc<\/b><\/h3>\n

Kevin Blackwood<\/strong> was also injured in the same car accident as Daniel Garcia and Kevin Bennett and was forced to remove himself from this match.\u00a0 At Heavy is The Head,<\/em>\u00a0Scotty O’Shea<\/strong> received a little package from Smash Management.\u00a0 The package contained a hatchet and soon after, we learned that none other than Jimmy Havoc<\/strong><\/a> was replacing the injured Blackwood and stepping into the ring to face O’Shea.\u00a0 What is Barbed Wire Hell<\/strong> you may ask?\u00a0 Well, it involves two sides of the ring and various weapons being wrapped in barbed wire.\u00a0 \u00a0This is a match that falls right into Havoc’s wheelhouse.\u00a0 The previous CZW Tournament of Death winner will feel right at home in Barbed Wire Hell and O’Shea should be very worried.<\/p>\n
