Every young athlete must face the best in <strong>New<\/strong> <strong>Japan<\/strong> <strong>Pro<\/strong> <strong>Wrestling<\/strong> in order to get better and test their newfound skills against the veterans that make the company what it is today. \u201cSwitchblade\u201d <strong>Jay<\/strong> <strong>White<\/strong> went down in defeat one year ago at <em><strong>Wrestle<\/strong> <strong>Kingdom<\/strong><\/em> <strong>12<\/strong> to \u201cThe Ace\u201d, Hiroshi Tanahashi via the\u00a0 High Fly Flow, at the biggest show of the year for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship, but it\u2019s White&#8217;s progress that has helped Jay White get another big match at the show of shows, <em><strong>Wrestle<\/strong> <strong>Kingdom<\/strong><\/em> <strong>13<\/strong>, from NJPW one year later.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_34098\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-34098\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-34098\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/DSC_3866.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/DSC_3866.jpg 600w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/DSC_3866-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-34098\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: NJPW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The United Kingdom was a great proving ground for Jay White in 2017, White was on an excursion from NJPW to find himself as an in-ring talent and overall persona. Not only did <strong>Jay<\/strong> <strong>Briscoe<\/strong>, <strong>Travis<\/strong> <strong>Banks<\/strong> and many more feel the aggression of White but <strong>Ring<\/strong> <strong>Of<\/strong> <strong>Honor<\/strong> <strong>Wrestling<\/strong> (<strong>ROH<\/strong>) made White a household name by having him go undefeated for over six months. Once January of 2018 rolled around, the \u201cSwitchblade\u201d gimmick had been presented by NJPW but not yet established. The first few months of the year was the NJPW faithful witnessing the rise of a new main eventer when it just looked like growing pains at face value. <strong>Kazuchika<\/strong> <strong>Okada<\/strong>, front and center of the <strong>CHAOS<\/strong> faction, was lured like a fish in a pond by White and so was the rest of the faction by the plans of Jay White.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_34099\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-34099\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-34099\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/jays-e1546396200793.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"336\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-34099\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: ROH<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Gedo,<\/strong> Okada&#8217;s manager since Okada first started his reign atop NJPW as the IWGP Heavyweight Champion, turned his back on Okada and joined Jay White in the pursuit of finding a new golden boy to latch onto. It was a very smart move by Gedo but it was the most unpopular decision Gedo could have made, making himself the manager of the young and hungry talented Heavyweight and future champion much like Gedo did with Okada years ago. Kenny Omega may be considered &#8220;The Best Bout Machine&#8221; in NJPW but even Omega was pinned by Jay White when the IWGP United States Championship was on the line at\u00a0 <em><strong>New<\/strong> <strong>Beginning<\/strong> <strong>In<\/strong> <strong>Sapporo<\/strong><\/em>. It was a breakout victory for White, eating V-Trigger knee strikes and laughing right in Omega&#8217;s face before winning the IWGP United States Championship with the Blade Runner. White would lose that title to <strong>Juice<\/strong> <strong>Robinson<\/strong> but White showed he can carry a top title and hang with the best of them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-34100\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/0jrt4wgonmd01-e1546396256779.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"456\" height=\"500\"><\/p>\n<p>It was a spectacular <em><strong>G1<\/strong> <strong>Climax<\/strong> <strong>28<\/strong><\/em> tournament debut for White in 2018 and it all started with a pinfall victory over Kazuchika Okada, perhaps the pinnacle of modern-day NJPW main eventers. <strong>Sho<\/strong> and <strong>Yoh<\/strong> of <strong>Roppongi<\/strong> <strong>3K<\/strong> have almost split apart because of White\u2019s masterful mind games until the rising Kiwi star <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/10\/09\/bringing-a-switchblade-to-a-gun-fight-jay-white-and-bullet-club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">left CHAOS for the <strong>Bullet<\/strong> <strong>Club<\/strong> faction<\/a>. <strong>Tama<\/strong> <strong>Tonga<\/strong>, Bullet Club original from the start, has announced that the 26-year old prot\u00e9g\u00e9 <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/12\/22\/tama-tonga-announces-jay-white-now-leader-of-bullet-club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">is the leader of the new Bullet Club<\/a> with <strong>The<\/strong> <strong>Guerillas<\/strong> <strong>Of<\/strong> <strong>Destiny<\/strong>, <strong>Bad<\/strong> <strong>Luck<\/strong> <strong>Fale<\/strong>, <strong>Taiji<\/strong> <strong>Ishimori, Gedo<\/strong> and <strong>Robbie<\/strong> <strong>Eagles<\/strong>. A new member is coming soon as a defection from CHAOS to Bullet Club as teased by White but it remains to be seen just which CHAOS member will make the shocking allegiance with Bullet Club.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_34101\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-34101\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-34101\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/jay-white-bc-og-e1539138898659.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/jay-white-bc-og-e1539138898659.jpg 600w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/jay-white-bc-og-e1539138898659-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-34101\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: NJPW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Blade Runner has become a very effective new tool in White\u2019s arsenal and it\u2019s the preferred match finish for \u201cSwitchblade\u201d but it\u2019s Jay White&#8217;s overall presence that has changed altogether for the better. Going back to the old cheating ways of Bullet Club by winning matches against Okada and Tanahashi with a steel chair. Throwing the top athletes in NJPW on the floor with vicious Saito Suplexes. Even the promo ability of the Kiwi has exponentially improved with his menacing tone and confidence shining through with every word during backstage post-shows. Kazuchika Okada will probably defeat Jay White at <strong>Wrestle<\/strong> <strong>Kingdom<\/strong> <strong>13<\/strong> but that\u2019s not the end of this rivalry, it\u2019s merely the beginning. Okada is looking at redemption for himself against <strong>Gedo<\/strong> and White but it\u2019s \u201cSwitchblade\u201d that has his eyes on the future and it might just be his for the taking.
