referred to as simply\u00a0<strong>Stardom<\/strong>, it is the most accessible <em>joshi puroresu\u00a0<\/em>(Japanese women&#8217;s wrestling)\u00a0promotion for English language viewers.\u00a0 In this piece, we will introduce you to the all-important factions in the promotion, the champions and establish a hierarchy for who is at the top of the card and who is at the bottom.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Stardom: The Style<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33924\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33924\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33924\" characters and good looks &#8211; but as it&#8217;s progressed, it&#8217;s become some of the best wrestling in the world.\u00a0 As a promotion, it is looking to build stars that will gain a die-hard fanbase that will support them and buy their merchandise.\u00a0 One of the bonuses of Stardom is that matches are usually not too long, as they appreciate a solid, fun 8-minute match as much as a 30-minute epic.\u00a0 There is a variety of wrestlers too, as you have hard hitters, powerhouses, comedy,\u00a0lucha\u00a0and high speed, as well as imports with their own unique style.\u00a0 In one card, you can get a high\u00a0octane trios match, a hard-hitting\u00a0Momo match, a comedy match and a fun tag team match.\u00a0 The variety mixed with nice, bite-size matches helps make the promotion a treat to watch.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Where To Watch<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33912\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33912\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption their\u00a0half-assed best they are meant to be heels but the crowd has warmed up to their antics and usually cheers or laughs along with their latest shenanigans.\u00a0 They are the cool faction with masks, a dance and more personality\u00a0than you can shake a stick at.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>STARS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33920\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33920\" STARS it is made up of truly good babyfaces who haven&#8217;t got an evil bone in their body.\u00a0 Over the last year they have become the home of lost toys as they welcomed Kashima and Hoshiki back to Stardom and welcomed Tam Nakano in after she was forced to leave Oedo Tai.\u00a0 STARS are the adorkable faction fashioned after Iwatani herself.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Queen&#8217;s Quest<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33915\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33915\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" Shirai<\/strong>.\u00a0 They are the pure wrestling faction.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t like comedy or over the top personalities than Queen&#8217;s Quest is the faction for you.\u00a0 Konami and Watanabe especially are two cocky girls that will kick your skin off, AZM is a brat that is constantly belittling her opponents and Hayashishita is the Super Rookie with a Judo background.\u00a0 All about wrestling and making sure other people know they are the best Queen&#8217;s Quest are clear heels.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>JAN<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33917\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33917\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33917\" Yoneyama<\/li>\n<li>Ruaka<\/li>\n<li>Leo Onozaki<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>JAN is the colourful powerhouses.\u00a0 Both agile and strong they all have an animal persona.\u00a0 Specialists in trios and tag matches their singles runs don&#8217;t peak as high as the other factions but they are always a fun team to watch.\u00a0 Big favourites if you like colourful performers that have a big variety in their faction.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Champions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>World Of Stardom Championship (The Red Belt): Kagetsu<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33925\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33925\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33925\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/DoV6o7LU8AMRIts-e1546187787342.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33925\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The number one title in the promotion, it has only been held by nine people since its inception in 2011. It has been held by names like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/08\/16\/preview-stardom-5star-grand-prix-field-of-entrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Nanae Takahashi<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0<strong>Io Shirai<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Meiko Satomura<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kairi Hojo\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Toni Storm.\u00a0<\/strong>Currently held by trainer and veteran Kagetsu it has not had the greatest 12 months as Mayu Iwatani&#8217;s reign was unfortunately cut short by a freak injury. This lead to Toni Storm having a poor reign where she was unavailable to defend the title due to other commitments, Kagetsu&#8217;s reign has not been much better unfortunately, as Stardom seems to be focusing more on Momo Watanabe and Utami Hayashishita than Kagetsu.\u00a0 A prestigious title and one that only a handful of names have held, it is the main title in the promotion that will get back to its former glory soon.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Wonder Of Stardom Championship (The White Belt): Momo Watanabe<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33927\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33927\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33927\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/DqM9zB9U4AA8br1-e1546187882535.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33927\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The White Belt is much like new Japan&#8217;s Intercontinental Championship, as it is often put on a big name and main event&#8217;s the odd big show but in recent times has almost become as popular as the number one title. Io Shirai&#8217;s run brought the prestige of this title up as her star power made it more important during Toni Storm&#8217;s miserable reign with the Red Belt. Shirai&#8217;s reign was ended by the new Ace, Momo Watanabe, who has been many people&#8217;s pick for Joshi Wrestler Of The Year.\u00a0 The number two title in the promotion has seen a huge surge in prestige over the last two years but may never overtake the Red Belt as Stardom&#8217;s number one championship<\/p>\n<h3><strong>High Speed Championship: Hazuki<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33928\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33928\" style=\"width: 375px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33928\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/DvKwcJvU8AAZHra-e1546187961669.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33928\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Brought over from\u00a0<strong>NEO Ladies\u00a0<\/strong>and dominated by\u00a0<strong>Natsuko Taiyo\u00a0<\/strong>in its early days.\u00a0 This title was, obviously, built around fast-paced matches involving some really good lucha style action.\u00a0 Always put on more exciting in-ring talents like Taiyo, Iwatani and\u00a0<strong>Leon<\/strong>.\u00a0 The last champion\u00a0<strong>Mary Apache\u00a0<\/strong>did not make many defences and isn&#8217;t necessarily a high-speed kind of wrestler.\u00a0 Now on rising star Hazuki it is going back to its roots.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Goddesses Of Stardom Championships: Queen&#8217;s Quest (Momo Watanabe &amp; Utami Hayashishita)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33929\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33929\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33929\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/DvMI02UUYAEotpR-e1546188027282.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33929\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The tag team championships have been bounced around lately but are always good for delivering really good matches.\u00a0 Much like the old\u00a0<strong>All Japan Pro Wrestling\u00a0<\/strong>method of booking tag titles, you usually have a main event level star holding one of the two titles which makes them more prestigious.\u00a0 With faction warfare being a big storytelling method in the company, there is never a lack of teams to deliver fun matches for these titles.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Artist Of Stardom Championships: STARS (Mayu Iwatani, Saki Kashima &amp; Tam Nakano)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33930\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33930\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33930\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/DucWMq4UcAMxWQv-e1546188098817.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33930\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Stardom&#8217;s trios championships are used for action-packed, balls to the wall trios matches that Stardom does better than any other company in the world.\u00a0 Currently held by a really talented team of Iwatani, Kashima and Nakano they will continue to be the source of some of the most enjoyable matches on any Stardom card.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Future Of Stardom championship: Starlight Kid<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33923\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33923\" style=\"width: 355px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33923\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/DvVwDnMUUAAMx2T-e1546187436718.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"355\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33923\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A title introduced back in March for the next generation of talents to fight for. Currently held by the Starlight Kid, a protege and future star for the company, it plays a good job in giving the rookies something to fight for and providing them with the opportunity to work big singles matches.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>SWA Undisputed World Women&#8217;s Championship: Viper<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33931\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33931\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33931\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/DZYPGxNVQAEm0B6-e1546188146109.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"390\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33931\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Originally meant to be defended by other promotions within the\u00a0<strong>Stardom Wrestling Alliance<\/strong>\u00a0it has not been defended outside the main promotion since December 2017.\u00a0 Only defended three times this year, Viper is a good champion and talented wrestler but will hopefully see an increased role as SWA champion should Stardom continue their renewed international expansion.\u00a0 Another interesting rule about this title is it can not be defended against a wrestler from the same country as the title holder, meaning Stardom have to be more creative when it comes to title defences.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Stardom: The Big Four<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33919\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33919\" style=\"width: 403px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33919\" Watanabe, Mayu Iwatani and Jungle Kyona.\u00a0 These are the four most likely candidates to ever hold the World Of Stardom championship and people that rarely if ever take falls in multi-person matches.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Seconds<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33932\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33932\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img and Saki Kashima.\u00a0 They are likely to hold the Wonder Of Stardom championship and will often challenger for the World Championship.\u00a0 Usually, go 50\/50 in terms of pins won and pins lost in tag matches they are more protected than the lower card but are not invincible.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Stardom: The Midcard<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33933\" limbo without a faction.\u00a0 This is where we see\u00a0<strong>Hana Kimura<\/strong>, Mary Apache, Konami, Kaori Yoneyama, Natsu Sumire, Tam Nakano, AZM and Arisa Hoshiki.\u00a0 Usually going to take the pin when involved in a match but can get the occasional win if being pushed and always beat rookies when facing them<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Future<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure seen on ring duty during later matches.\u00a0 Mostly under the age of 18 with a lot of room to grow this is the division of\u00a0Utami Hayashishita, Starlight Kid, Ruaka, Shiki Shibusawa, Hanan, Leo
