{"id":32814,"date":"2018-12-15T17:57:14","date_gmt":"2018-12-15T22:57:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/?p=32814"},"modified":"2018-12-15T17:57:14","modified_gmt":"2018-12-15T22:57:14","slug":"report-uk-star-mark-haskins-headed-to-roh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2018\/12\/15\/report-uk-star-mark-haskins-headed-to-roh\/","title":{"rendered":"REPORT: UK Star Mark Haskins Headed to ROH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There was lots happening backstage on Friday night during and after <strong>Ring of\u00a0Honor<\/strong>&#8216;s F<em><strong>inal Battle<\/strong> <\/em>PPV, but PWInsider&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwinsider.com\/article\/122509\/lots-of-ring-of-honor-news-coming-out-of-final-battle-ppv.html?p=1\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Johnson is reporting<\/a> an interesting piece of news to come out of event regarding a potential new signee to the company for 2019. &#8220;The word backstage last night was that British talent <strong>Mark Haskins<\/strong> has officially signed with the company and is coming in,&#8221; Johnson stated in his round up of news out of New York last night.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_32824\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-32824\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-32824\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/Mark-Haskins-e1544914507382.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-32824\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: IPW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Only 30 years old, Mark Haskins has been a star on the UK indie scene for 12 years, debuting in 2006. His initial breakout came working for <strong>IPW:UK<\/strong> starting in 2007, where he became the IPW British Cruiserweight Champion at the age of 20, a feat he would accomplish twice that year. He also began to work regularly in Germany with <strong>Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw)<\/strong> and in 2008 made his Japanese debut working with <strong>Pro Wrestling NOAH<\/strong> and then <strong>Dragon Gate<\/strong> the following year.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mark Haskins &amp; Bison Smith vs Mitsuharu Misawa &amp; Kotaro Suzuki - Part 1\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lRziveWrSLs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In 2011, Mark Haskins worked throughout the year for <strong>TNA\/IMPACT Wrestling<\/strong>, as part of the Maximum IMPACT! Tour in Europe, before appearing at <em><strong>Destination X<\/strong><\/em> to face UK legend <strong>Doug Williams<\/strong>. He worked several other matches for TNA Xplosion as well.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HSc7Zmmp3f4<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, he added <strong>Southside Wrestling Entertainment (SWE)<\/strong> to his list of promotions, becoming the SWE Heavyweight Champion in 2013, as well as starting to work for an upstart new promotion called <strong>Revolution Pro UK (RevPro)<\/strong>. He would become a tag team champion in RevPro with <strong>Joel Redman<\/strong> in <strong>The Thrillers<\/strong>, and in 2013 he would begin working with another new UK indie, <strong>PROGRESS Wrestling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=B_AyiG0CacY<\/p>\n<p>By 2016, Mark Haskins had emerged as one of the true faces of the newly booming UK indie scene, a major player with RevPro, PROGRESS and the others. He made his debut with <strong>Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG)<\/strong> in the 2016 <em><strong>Battle of Los Angeles<\/strong><\/em> as well as travelling to Canada where captured the <strong>Smash Wrestling<\/strong> Championship. The Smash win jumpstarted a huge next year for Haskins, who won the IPW World Championship twice, PROGRESS World Championship, OTT No Limits Championship and start a title winning combination alongside<strong> Jimmy Havoc<\/strong>, winning tag team gold in PROGRESS and Defiant Wrestling.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Wednesday Night Wrestling #02 &quot;Scurll vs. Haskins&quot; presented by Fight! Nation Wrestling\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/75EXIJ01PxM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Haskins made his ROH debut earlier this year as part of the <em><strong>Honor United<\/strong> <\/em>tour, before being announced for the <strong>ROH International Cup<\/strong> tournament in the UK this past August. Haskins defeated <strong>Hangman Page<\/strong> in the tournament final, earning a title shot against ROH World Champion <strong>Jay Lethal<\/strong> on the last day of the <em><strong>Honor Re-United<\/strong><\/em> tour in London. Mark Haskins would add to a recent influx of new talent to the company, who are stocking up with the departure of The Elite (Young Bucks, Cody, Hangman Page).
