This Friday, Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL)<\/strong> is celebrating one of their most prestigious tournament of the year. La Leyenda de Plata<\/em> is a tournament in honor of El Santo<\/strong>, arguably the most famous wrestler from Mexico. Started in 1998, the tournament honors the Silver Mask that elevated Mexican wrestling to the world.<\/p>\n

The tournaments start as a Torneo Cibernetico<\/em>. Every wrestler has to be eliminated with two of them getting to the finals. The match previously had the past winner waiting for the winner of the Torneo Cibernetico, but, this year will be a winner beats all. Last year, Volador Jr.<\/strong> was the winner. He was supposed to go against La Mascara, but the latter was fired by CMLL<\/strong>. This year’s favorites include King Phoenix<\/strong> (Rey Fenix), last year’s winner Volador Jr. and rising star Barbaro Cavernario<\/strong>. If Volador Jr. wins, he will join Caristico<\/strong> and Negro Casas<\/strong> as the only wrestlers to win the tournament two occasions and consecutively. This is supposed to be the main event. The big moment in the match should be Pentagon Jr.<\/strong> and Caristico<\/strong> going at it. They are hot dynamite when wrestling each other and the Mexican fan base is always hot for Pentagon Jr. Ultimo Guerrero<\/strong> recently won the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship<\/a> and regained the CMLL World Trios Championship – he’s been on a roll.
