Back in the summer of 2017, Dave Meltzer said that PAC’s return to the indie scene could change everything. The match against Flamita is one of the many examples of such impact.

PAC was the resident highflyer in Dragon Gate before joining WWE. His display of gravity-defying moves wowed everybody, making him one of the most sought out superstars in the international wrestling scene. He conquered Dragon Gate with the WORLD-1 faction, winning in three occasions the Open the Triangle Gate Championship (Six-Man titles) and in one occasion the Open the Twin Gate and the Open the Brave Gate Championship.

One year after PAC went to WWE, Flamita became their best international wrestler. He quickly won the Open the Triangle Gate alongside T-Hawk and Eita. Later, he became a singles star, winning the Open the Brave Gate championship and having a 287 title reign. Just recently, Flamita brought to the scene his partner from Mexico, Bandido. In a twist of irony, Bandido will face PAC’s former partner, Dragon Kid, on the same show.

PAC is the before and Flamita is the after. The match is a clash of the best two highflyers in the past eight years in Dragon Gate. Flamita has the best rope control, but PAC has the best creativity when it comes to flying. PAC will have to work hard to earn the respect of the man that substituted him while his was away in Sports Entertainment.

Match Point is an on-going series at Last Word on Pro Wrestling, where we look at intriguing matchups in indie wrestling and beyond.
