Gibson, a regular on the New South Wales, also bested Alex Irvine in the Rumble match to become the inaugural champion, whom he will be competing against at Wrestling GO!’s Halloween Episode next Saturday. While not announced, it would make all the sense in the world for Gibson to make his—and the title’s—first defense at Suplex Pro’s next chapter show, Chapter Four: Uncharted, in Cessnock, New South Wales. So this question then arises: Who will be the first challenger? Well, Gibson, in a video release on Suplex Pro’s Facebook page, says that he’s clearly better than everyone in the division, and that even Jesus Christ himself couldn’t beat him for the belt.

With no challenger named, the leading candidate seems to be Ritchie Taylor. Although he’s from Victoria, he has a lot of buzz coming off his debut for Melbourne City Wrestling, and a one on one matchup with him would bring a couple more eyeballs to the title. In addition, Taylor is also a great worker, so Gibson and he would have a great match. No matter who challenges first, Gibson is a sold pick as the first champion, and will have a nice reign to establish the belt. Expect him to hang on to it for a while, so as to add some prestige to it before the first title change. Also look for him to go above and beyond to have great matches, to make sure the championship gets over as a big deal.

Suplex Professional Wrestling, still in its infancy as a company, crowned its first ever Junior Heavyweight Champion last night, via a Rumble match.
