In her first match, Shirai is slated to face second generation wrestler <strong>Xia Brookside<\/strong>, former IPW Women&#8217;s Champion and daughter of WWE Performance Center coach and UK indie legend <strong>Robbie Brookside<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Io Shirai on her dream opponents, changing women&#039;s wrestling forever\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/88UuQA4rBhM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Trained by former <strong>DDT Pro<\/strong> star <strong>Tomohiko Hashimoto<\/strong>, Io Shirai has been wrestling since 2007, starting out with promotions like<strong> IBUKI, Pro Wrestling WAVE<\/strong> and <strong>Sendai Girls<\/strong>. In 2010, along with her sister<strong> Mio Shirai<\/strong>, she joined the faction <strong>Triple Tails<\/strong>, lead by <strong>Kana<\/strong> (aka WWE&#8217;s Asuka), before joining Stardom in 2011. She would soon become the face of Stardom, as a 2x World of Stardom Champion, 2x Wonder of Stardom Champion, 6x Artist of Stardom (Trios) Champion and Goddesses of Stardom (Tag Team) Champion. Shirai was slated to join the WWE last year prior to the inaugural Mae Young Classic, but an injury discovered during her WWE medical cost her the opportunity.
