Following her victory, she laid down the challenge to reclaim the World of Stardom title (&#8220;The Red Belt&#8221;) next month, facing current champion <strong>Kagetsu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Mayu Iwatani won the 5\u2605STAR GP 2018 by defeating Utami Hayashishita in the finals! Mayu said she will challenge for the Red belt next month at Korakuen Hall! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/u2uG6Pr7X0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/u2uG6Pr7X0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; We Are Stardom (@we_are_stardom) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/we_are_stardom\/status\/1044133409100976128?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">September 24, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The win came one year to the day that Mayu Iwatani <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2017\/09\/24\/breaking-storm-new-stardom-champ-iwatani-injured\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lost her World of Wonder title to Toni Storm<\/a>, in a match that ended with a serious injury to Iwatani. She spent the next few months on the disabled list, before returning briefly at the <strong>Yoko Bito<\/strong> retirement gauntlet in December. She officially returned to the ring this January at the 7th Anniversary show at Korakeun Hall, before making her <strong>Ring of Honor<\/strong> debut in March, when she (along with a few other Stardom talents) entered the Women of Honor Championship tournament. She was knocked out in the semi-finals by <strong>Kelly Klein<\/strong>, but has appeared for ROH since (including a 6-woman tag match at <em><strong>Best In The World &#8217;18<\/strong><\/em> in June).
