{"id":25983,"date":"2018-09-18T14:19:23","date_gmt":"2018-09-18T18:19:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/?p=25983"},"modified":"2018-09-18T14:20:15","modified_gmt":"2018-09-18T18:20:15","slug":"preview-ipwuk-anniversary-xiv-9-22-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2018\/09\/18\/preview-ipwuk-anniversary-xiv-9-22-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Preview: IPW:UK Anniversary XIV (9\/22\/18)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>International Pro Wrestling UK (IPW:UK)<\/strong>\u00a0celebrates 14 years with a doubleheader.\u00a0 Night one is their anniversary\u00a0celebration as they bring WWE UK&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>British Strong Style (Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Trent Seven)\u00a0<\/strong>to IPW&#8217;s biggest show of the year.\u00a0 With only a few matches announced so far we have a well built card from IPW that shows the direction they have gone in this year.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26227\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26227\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26227\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/09\/DkjCYprWsAAgHaA-e1537294632459.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26227\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: IPW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><strong>Match 1: Andreas Corr &amp; Ashley Dunn W\/ Johnny Storm vs Amir Jordan &amp; Kurtis Chapman<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26223\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26223\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26223\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/09\/DnX3fLjW4AAP_uJ-e1537294017889.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26223\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: IPW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Some of the most hated men in IPW face two Z-Force division standouts.\u00a0 Johnny Storm has turned into someone that IPW fans despise an he has been joined by his crew of Corr and Dunn.\u00a0 Their opponents are two younger guys that have never teamed in IPW before and are used to the high octane Z-Force division.\u00a0 While this may put them at a disadvantage they are two extremely talented individuals, as Amir Jordan is a former Z-Force champion and is already a part of NXT UK.\u00a0 Chapman is one of\u00a0<strong>Revolution Pro Wrestling\u00a0<\/strong>(Rev Pro&#8217;s) standout young wrestlers and at just 20 has the wrestling world at his feet.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Match 2: Sammy Smooth vs Scott Star<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26220\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26220\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26220\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/09\/41766690_1875886652449115_8840483347458162688_n-e1537294041590.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26220\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: IPW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A 4-year rivalry comes to an end as <strong>Scott Star<\/strong>\u00a0goes out against his biggest rival. These two debuted in 2014 and proceeded to have six matches against one another in 2014 and 2015.\u00a0 They went 3-3 as neither man could get past the other.\u00a0 In 2016, they joined forces as <strong>Smoothstar<\/strong> and were part of the anti-<strong>Jimmy Havoc<\/strong> crew that were fending off the heels. They did battle in 2016 once again as well, in the <em><strong>UK Future 8<\/strong> <\/em>final as Scott Star picked up the win and the All England title.\u00a0 In 2017, they would go to war again over the All England title.\u00a0 By the time Star stopped performing, this rivalry was 7-5 in favour of Star.\u00a0 For one last time, Star and Smooth do battle in IPW as Star says goodbye to the wrestling business.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Match 3: Pete Dunne vs Mark Haskins<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26222\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26222\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26222\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/09\/41926141_1875886465782467_3275806358779199488_n-e1537294065267.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26222\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: IPW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Two of the UK&#8217;s best face off once again and for the first time here in IPW.\u00a0 Haskins has been the leading name in IPW&#8217;s turnaround and represented them as champion for most of 2018.\u00a0 His role as indie superstar is important for a company like IPW to help them stand out.\u00a0 Haskins faces WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne, and Dunne is no stranger to IPW as he has competed here in the past.\u00a0 What&#8217;s cool here is this match feels like WWE vs the Indies and the crowd will be white hot to see Pete Dunne.\u00a0 Dunne and Haskins are no strangers to each other and both of them have been at the top of British Wrestling for a few years now.\u00a0 Two of the best, two of the biggest names, a show stealer, and it&#8217;s all going down at IPW&#8217;s Anniversary.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Match 4: IPW Women&#8217;s Championship: Xia Brookside (c) vs Bobbi Tyler<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26219\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26219\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26219\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/09\/41748655_1875886535782460_9055624225024376832_n-e1537294085455.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26219\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: IPW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Xia Brookside has been IPW&#8217;s fighting champion for over 9 months.\u00a0 During her reign, she has defeated big names like\u00a0<strong>Kay Lee Ray, Tenille Dashwood, Zoe Lucas\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Rhia O&#8217;Reilly<\/strong>.\u00a0 Tyler has been a thorn in her side, constantly attacking her from behind and leaving her laying.\u00a0 The contrast of the cowardly attacker and the noble fighting champion is simple storytelling at it&#8217;s best, but it has the crowd invested in the main feud of this women&#8217;s division.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Match 5: IPW World Championship: Kip Sabian (c) vs Doug Williams<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26221\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26221\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26221\" in his second defence.\u00a0 Ever since becoming the first ever 2x Z-Force champion in IPW history, he has been earmarked for success.\u00a0 After winning the international battle royal, he cashed in his title briefcase (much like Money in the Bank) and won the IPW World title from\u00a0<strong>Mark Haskins.<\/strong>\u00a0 His marquee defence at this huge show is against a British wrestling legend. <strong>Doug Williams<\/strong> has been in IPW since 2006 and despite capturing 40 titles in his storied career has never been IPW World Champion.\u00a0 The future faces the past as Williams aims to win the one title that has always alluded him.<\/p>\n<p>IPW has a fantastic looking set of events for their anniversary weekend, as the day after this show on the 23rd of September, IPW:UK invite <strong>Pro Wrestling NOAH<\/strong> legend\u00a0<strong>Naomichi Marufuji<\/strong> to face Doug Williams as part of <em><strong>IPW Final Encounter<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure
