This weekend they kick off the 7th annual <strong>5*Star Grand Prix<\/strong> tournament, which is similar to <strong>NJPW<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>G1 Climax Series<\/strong>, a multi-woman round robin tournament. A 2x Goddesses of Stardom (Tag Team) Champion and Artist of Stardom (Trios) Champion with Oedo Tai, Kagetsu challenged for <strong>Ring of Honor<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Women of Honor<\/strong> Championship earlier this year in the tournament, before returning to Japan to win Stardom&#8217;s top singles title, the World of Stardom Championship. A loose cannon, Kagetsu will be out to prove she is still the top of the card for Stardom.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>JUNGLE KYONA<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_24157\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24157\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24157\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/08\/27f81f7554d6c31b788d29c0ef122995-e1534444078489.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24157\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Jungle Kyona<\/strong> has been a Stardom staple since her 2015 debut, initially as part of <strong>Team Jungle<\/strong>, before starting a new faction, <strong>Jungle Assault Nation (<\/strong><strong>JAN)<\/strong>, this year. With JAN, she is one third of the reigning Artist of Stardom Champions (alongside\u00a0<strong>Kaori Yoneyama<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Natsuko Tora<\/strong>) and a 2x Champion all together, as well as a former Goddessess of Stardom champion. She&#8217;s been a semi finalist in the past two 5*Star tournaments, and hopes to break out as a singles star this year.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>TAM NAKANO<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_24160\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24160\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24160\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/08\/93fe7f5d5af3c35d15318f02712a3a29-e1534444161963.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24160\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Trained by <strong>Tokyo Joshi Pro<\/strong>&#8216;s\u00a0<strong>Yuna Manase<\/strong>, <strong>Tam Nakano<\/strong> is still relatively new to the\u00a0<em>joshi\u00a0<\/em>circuit, joining Stardom full time last fall after working for various other promotions in her first year. She initially joined Oedo Tai, but after being kicked out this January, she has aligned with her former foe, Mayu Iwatani, in <strong>STARS<\/strong>. An explosive striker, Nakano will be looking to show she belongs in Stardom and expect sparks to fly if she faces any of her former stablemates.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>KONAMI<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_24161\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24161\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24161\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/08\/DJ_9Q3EV4AAsAwE-e1534444229869.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24161\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Only 22 years old, <strong>Konami<\/strong> is a student of current WWE Superstar <strong>Asuka<\/strong>, who began her career with Asuka&#8217;s group, <strong>Kana Pr<\/strong>o, as well as working as a freelancer. A product of the Stardom Dojo, she can brawl with the best of them, and will be looking to put on a good singles showing in her 5*Star Grand Prix debut.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>UTAMI HAYASHISHITA<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_24159\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24159\" style=\"width: 413px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24159\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/08\/UTAMI-e1534444096835.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"413\" height=\"550\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24159\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A Stardom rookie, <strong>Utami Hayashishita<\/strong> only made her Stardom debut this past week, and is already entered into her first 5*Star Grand Prix. The wild card of the tournament, her youthful energy may upset a veteran or two.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>RACHAEL ELLERING<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24163\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/08\/Rachael_Ellering_-_CiOnoHLWEAEyCp4-e1534444348119.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\"><\/p>\n<p>One of several\u00a0<em>gaijin<\/em> entering the tournament, indie star <strong>Rachael Ellering<\/strong> made her Stardom debut at the end of last year, and had her first tour at the beginning of 2018, where she even challenged Io Shirai for the Wonder of Stardom Championship. A student of former <strong>All Japan Women&#8217;s Wrestling (AJW)<\/strong> star <strong>Nanae Takahashi<\/strong>, Iwatani has been wrestling with Stardom since she debuted in 2011 as a teenager. A former World of Stardom Champion, 2x Wonder of Stardom Champion, High Speed Champion, 3x Artist of Stardom Champion and reigning (and 2x) Goddesses of Stardom Champion, Iwatani is now the leader of the newer faction, STARS, and looking to re-establish herself at the top of the Stardom food chain. She gained some exposure in North America earlier this year as a participant in the Women of Honor tournament in ROH, making it to the semi finals. A 2x winner of the Stardom Cinderella Tournament, she&#8217;s still looking for her first 5*Star Tournament victory after four previous attempts.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>MOMO WATANABE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_24166\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24166\" style=\"width: 399px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24166\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/08\/C3u_169UYAAhr5C-e1534444621478.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"399\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24166\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Only 18 years old, <strong>Momo Watanabe<\/strong> is one of the brightest stars in Stardom &#8211; and she&#8217;s been wrestling since she was 14. The reigning Wonder of Stardom Champion won her title by beating her <strong>Queen&#8217;s Quest<\/strong> faction leader Io Shirai before the latter departed for the WWE. While not officially the leader, Io&#8217;s passing of the torch to Watanabe was her endorsement for leadership, but no word has been officially announced. A young star having a break out year, the 2018 Cinderella Tournament winner will look to add to her 2018 with a 5*Star Grand Prix trophy as well.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>SAKI KASHIMA<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_24167\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24167\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24167\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/08\/DcBxHCKVMAEpf3l-e1534444672474.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24167\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Stardom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>An early student with Stardom back in 2011, <strong>Saki Kashima<\/strong> stepped away from pro wrestling in 2013. She returned to the ring this year after five years away, but at only 25 years old, she still has lots left to give. One of the newest members of Oedo Tai, Sumire is as cocky and arrogant as they come and will be looking to cause a little bit of chaos in her first 5*Star Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>KELLY KLEIN<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_24170\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24170\" style=\"width: 501px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24170\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/08\/13686706_538260309694093_77452589157047589_n-e1534444869631.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"501\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24170\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Main Event Photos<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Arguably the heart and soul of Ring of Honor&#8217;s Women of Honor division, <strong>Kelly Klein<\/strong> is an 11-year veteran of the squared circle who started off in the Ohio indies of <strong>Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA)<\/strong> and <strong>Rockstar Pro<\/strong>. Since 2015, she&#8217;s been a wrecking machine in Women of Honor, making it to the finals of the WOH Championship tournament, before bowing out to current champion <strong>Sumie Sakai<\/strong>. She made her Stardom debut last year in the <strong>Goddesses of Stardom Tag League<\/strong> tournament, shocking the Japanese fans when her ad hoc tandem with <strong>Bea Priestley<\/strong> went on to win the entire tournament. Now entering her first 5*Star Grand Prix, she&#8217;ll be looking to shock the fans once again.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>NICOLE SAVOY<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_24171\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24171\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24171\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/08\/Screen-Shot-2018-08-16-at-2.45.01-PM-e1534445151874.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24171\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Mark Johnston<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The reigning SHIMMER Champion, <strong>Nicole Savoy<\/strong> is another veteran of the North American indie circuit who just recently made her Stardom debut earlier this year. A Suplex machine and a fierce competitor, Savoy is also a former Heart of SHIMMER Champion who impressed many with her showing in last year&#8217;s Mae Young Classic, before being knocked out in the second round by <strong>Candice LeRae<\/strong>. Savoy has all the tools to go all the way.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>JAMIE HAYTER<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_24172\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24172\" style=\"width: 440px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24172\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/08\/De1wFXFWkAA4vZZ-e1534445204136.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"550\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24172\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Oli Sandler \/ Ringside Perspective<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The lone representative from the United Kingdom, 23-year old <strong>Jamie Hayter<\/strong> enters the 5*Star Grand Prix as the <strong>Revolution Pro UK (RevPro)<\/strong> Undisputed British Women&#8217;s Champion, after defeating <strong>Jinny\u00a0<\/strong>for the title back in June.
