Last night at Rockstar Pro Wrestling<\/strong>‘s Wednesday Night Amped<\/strong><\/em> event in Dayton, Ohio, Japan’s\u00a0Dramatic Dream Team (DDT Pro)<\/strong><\/a> sent their KO-D Openweight Champion Shigehiro Irie<\/strong> to defend the title against Trey Miguel<\/strong> and OvE’s Jake Crist<\/strong>. But just days before the event, Jake was pulled due to injury from a show in California, with fellow OvE member Sami Callihan<\/strong> subbing in. Shockingly, Callihan took the win and the top singles title for DDT Pro, in a rare change of a Japanese title on US soil.<\/p>\n

DDT Pro’s titles are managed by a governing body known as King of DDT (KO-D)<\/strong>, similar to NJPW’s IWGP or Pro Wrestling Noah’s GHC. The KO-D Openweight Championship has been held in the past by such wrestlers as Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Sami Zayn<\/strong> (as El Generico<\/strong>), and Dick Togo<\/strong>. It marks the first time that title has every changed hands outside of Japan. Callihan add his second major title around his waist, as he’s also the reigning House of Glory (HOG)<\/strong> Crown Jewel Champion in New York.<\/p>\n
