{"id":22918,"date":"2018-07-29T21:32:30","date_gmt":"2018-07-30T01:32:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/?p=22918"},"modified":"2019-06-09T16:04:06","modified_gmt":"2019-06-09T20:04:06","slug":"news-on-new-faces-at-the-nxt-uk-tapings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2018\/07\/29\/news-on-new-faces-at-the-nxt-uk-tapings\/","title":{"rendered":"News on New Faces at the NXT UK Tapings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While\u00a0<strong>World Of Sport\u00a0<\/strong>and it&#8217;s action-packed debut show <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/07\/28\/andnew-rampage-brown-wins-world-of-sports-championship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">grabbed\u00a0most of the headlines<\/a>, <strong>NXT UK<\/strong> was also taping for its first show&#8217;s.\u00a0 The brand continues\u00a0to grow its roster with each passing show as we saw four new stars step between the ropes over the course of the two-day taping, as well as appearances from two other <a href=\"http:\/\/wwe.com\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WWE<\/a> Superstars (one from NXT and one from\u00a0<em><strong>205 Live<\/strong><\/em><em>).<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>New Faces at the NXT UK Tapings<\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Sid Scala<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22929\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22929\" style=\"width: 430px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-22929\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/25550356_778936708962254_7136074337653961589_n-e1532913715375.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"430\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22929\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Robyn Goding \/ Beyond Gorilla Photography<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The first new face of the weekend was <strong>Sid Scala<\/strong>.\u00a0 If there is one thing to be said about Scala it is this, he has an extremely punchable face.\u00a0 While he can usually be found wearing a suit, he seems to have ditched that for his NXT UK appearances.\u00a0 Scala is a guy that loses the majority of his matches, meaning he can slot in perfectly to the undercard of NXT UK.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Eddie Dennis<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22930\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22930\" style=\"width: 450px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-22930\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/14089053_10153899955136589_3823057427244987881_n-e1532913781105.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22930\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Jim Maitland \/ Turning Face Photography<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dennis was unable to appear in ring at the last tapings but did join the roster on stage after the show.\u00a0 On night 2 of the current tapings, Dennis made his in ring debut for NXT UK.\u00a0 Ever since his heel turn at last years\u00a0<strong>PROGRESS Chapter 55: Chasing The Sun,\u00a0<\/strong>he has been a hot commodity, sidetracked by injuries, but still the name on fans lips.\u00a0 Currently on a collision course with former friend\u00a0<strong>Mark Andrews\u00a0<\/strong>in PROGRESS, as well as the leader of\u00a0<strong>NTP\u00a0<\/strong>in\u00a0<strong>ATTACK!,\u00a0<\/strong>he has all the tools necessary to make a big impression in NXT UK.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Damian Dunne<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22931\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22931\" style=\"width: 401px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22931 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/C6FhoQCWgAETX3j-e1532913884541.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"401\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22931\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Oli Sandler \/ Ringside Perspective<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The tag team specialist with the very recognisable second name.\u00a0 Damian Dunne is currently known on the UK scene as <strong>Chief Deputy Dunne<\/strong> of the <strong>Anti Fun Police,<\/strong> which has seen him become a regular in promotions like\u00a0ATTACK!,<strong> Riptide\u00a0<\/strong>and <strong>Kamikaze Pro<\/strong>. He is also a regular treat in PROGRESS,\u00a0<strong>Rev Pro, Over The Top (OTT) Wrestling\u00a0<\/strong>and pretty much everywhere in the UK.\u00a0 Dunne is a master of all trades, good heel, good face, good mic work and solid in singles and tags.\u00a0 He is an asset to NXT UK and has the interesting\u00a0potential to rekindle a tag team with his &#8220;brother&#8221; Peter.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Millie McKenzie<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22932\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22932\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-22932\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/25446329_2006519326271142_4212614215581142572_n-e1532914164512.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22932\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Robyn Goding \/ Beyond Gorilla Photography<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Remember people thought\u00a0<strong>Tyler Bate<\/strong> was young? \u00a0Well, Millie here was born in this millennium.\u00a0 The suplexing\u00a0female superstar has been making a splash on the UK scene in 2018, going as far as to almost claim the\u00a0<strong>Fight Club: Pro\u00a0<\/strong>championship earlier this year.\u00a0 The former\u00a0<strong>Pro Wrestling Revolver\u00a0<\/strong>tag champion (titles she held with\u00a0<strong>Pete Dunne<\/strong>) is one of the brightest prospects in the UK &#8211; she&#8217;s also the former <strong>Defiant Wrestling<\/strong> Women&#8217;s Champion.\u00a0 At just 18, she wrestles everywhere against the best, both men and women, and always manages to get a reaction from the crowd.\u00a0 If Mckenzie continues on her current trajectory, she will be a big star for WWE as she is exactly the kind of badass female wrestler that people enjoy.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Noam Dar<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22934\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22934\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22934 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/noam-dar-wwe-e1532914196941.jpg\" alt=\"NXT UK\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22934\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: WWE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;The Scottish Supernova&#8221; made his return to the WWE from a lengthy injury at the WWE United Kingdom Championship event at Royal Albert Hall last month, becoming the #1 contender to Pete Dunne&#8217;s WWE UK Championship. Dar was one of the UK scene&#8217;s top stars prior to signing with the WWE following 2016&#8217;s Cruiserweight Classic, where he made his WWE debut. A long time staple of his native country&#8217;s <strong>Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW)<\/strong>, he was also a regular for PROGRESS, RevPro, <strong>Preston City Wrestling (PCW)<\/strong> and more, where he was a 2x ICW Zero-G Champion and PCW Heavyweight Champion.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Dakota Kai<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22933\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22933\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22933 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/Dakota_Kai_bio-6bae1fefd1c93042b2e441e80ca4fc02-e1532914215689.jpg\" alt=\"NXT UK\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22933\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: WWE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>One thing that was announced for NXT UK was the beginning of a tournament to crown the first ever NXT UK Women&#8217;s Championship, and the one of the first names to throw her hat in the ring was NXT Superstar Dakota Kai. While New Zealand and Australian wrestlers have found great success on the UK indie circuit in the past several years (such as Toni Storm and Travis Banks), surprisingly, Dakota Kai only made her UK debut last year as a member of the WWE. Previously, as Evie, she primarily plied her trade in the US with SHIMMER and in Japan with Stardom and Sendai Girls.
