The G1 is considered to be the most prestigious tournament in wrestling. Every individual in the field has their own unique story, as they prepare to make their claim as the best endurance wrestler in the world.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Since returning from an excursion, <strong>EVIL<\/strong> has been the muscle of Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ). Over the past year, he and <strong>SANADA<\/strong>\u00a0have seen their stock rise after impressive G127 performances. Together the LIJ tandem won the World Tag League and the IWGP Tag Team Championship since the conclusion of last years G1 tournament.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21866\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21866\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-21866\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/EVIL4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/EVIL4.jpg 600w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/EVIL4-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21866\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: NJPW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Despite losing their championship recognition in June at <em>Dominion<\/em> against The Young Bucks; same night EVIL saved LIJ leader <strong>Tetsuya Naito<\/strong> from a further beating at the hands of new IWGP Intercontinental Champion <strong>Chris Jericho<\/strong>, and losing a rematch at the <em>G1 Special Show<\/em> in San Francisco &#8212; EVIL has a lot of momentum coming into the G128.<\/p>\n<p>The LIJ bruiser was able to obtain two shocking upsets during last years G1 tournament when he defeated current RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion <strong>Minoru Suzuki<\/strong> [8:38] and <strong>Kazuchika Okada<\/strong> [22:47] who the IWGP Heavyweight Champion at the time.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21868\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21868\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-21868\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/EVIL2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/EVIL2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/EVIL2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21868\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: NJPW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>EVIL has been a great G1 performer, but he has struggled in singles competition this year. Never Openweight Champion <strong>Hirooki Goto<\/strong> successfully defended the championship against him [20:19] at <em>New Beginning In Osaka<\/em> in February. He also fell to <strong>Dalton Castle<\/strong> [15:33] when he challenged for the ROH World Heavyweight Championship at <em>Honor United<\/em> in May.<\/p>\n<p>EVIL has been a G1 entry the past two years.
