Meij announced the Young Lions dates as being November 10 and 11 in Anaheim, California. It would appear that the Young Lions dates will be showcases as part of a Japanese Manga, Anime, Gaming and Cosplay convention, <strong>CharaExpo USA<\/strong>, that is also run by <strong>Bushiroad<\/strong> (NJPW&#8217;s parent company).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21605\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21605\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-21605\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/CHARA3-e1530970559245.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21605\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: popcultureonline.net<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>CharaExpo was created in 2015 and is usually based out of Singapore, but this year they are holding their first one in the US, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/charaexpo-usa-2018-tickets-42660592982\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> eventbrite ticket site<\/a> states &#8220;CharaExpo USA 2018 is a Japanese Manga, Anime, Games and Cosplay event that will feature activities like Live Performances by the famous talents, merchandise sales and TCG tournaments including, Cardfight!! Vanguard, Weiss Schwarz, Future Card Buddyfight and more!!&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21604\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21604\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-21604\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/CHARA2-e1530970580868.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21604\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: popcultureonline.net<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It won&#8217;t be the first time NJPW has co-produced wrestling events with CharaExpo &#8211; at the first one in 2015, New Japan legend <strong>Jushin &#8220;Thunder&#8221; Liger<\/strong> made an appearance, and the fans were treated to matches featuring the likes of\u00a0<strong>Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada<\/strong>, and <strong>Shinsuke Nakamura<\/strong> had matches.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21603\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21603\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-21603\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/CHARA1-e1530970598271.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21603\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: popcultureonline.net<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The addition of the Young Lions showcase to the CharaExpo USA convention follows on the successful pairing of NJPW at the CEO Gaming Convention last week for the <em><strong>CEO x NJPW<\/strong> <\/em>event, that saw <strong>The Golden Lovers<\/strong> (<strong>Kenny Omega &amp; Kota Ibushi<\/strong>) face <strong>Tetsuya Naito<\/strong> and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion <strong>Hiromu Takahashi<\/strong> in the main event, that<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twitch.tv\/videos\/279123473\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> aired for free on Twitch.<\/a>\u00a0While NXT is going the rock and roll route, doing showcases at music festivals like Download in the UK and Aftershock in the US, New Japan is targeting perhaps a far more suitable demographic &#8211; that of fans of combat fighting video games and fans of Japanese pop culture like Manga and Anime &#8211; to help with their US expansion.<\/p>\n<p><em>Special thanks to our New Japan correspondent\u00a0<strong>Walt Yeates<\/strong> for finding out about the CharaExpo USA dates.
