{"id":21287,"date":"2018-07-04T09:27:42","date_gmt":"2018-07-04T13:27:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/?p=21287"},"modified":"2021-11-13T15:20:47","modified_gmt":"2021-11-13T20:20:47","slug":"border-city-wrestling-announces-25th-anniversary-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2018\/07\/04\/border-city-wrestling-announces-25th-anniversary-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Border City Wrestling Announces 25th Anniversary Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This weekend, Windsor, Ontario&#8217;s <strong>Border City Wrestling (BCW)<\/strong> announced a 25th Anniversary show at St. Clair College (site of the most recent Impact tapings) on Saturday, October 6, 2018.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Stay tuned.  <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BCW25?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#BCW25<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/C9zzBT1DbP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/C9zzBT1DbP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Border City Wrestling (@bcwonline) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bcwonline\/status\/1013124539214123009?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">June 30, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1993 <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/06\/27\/impact-fans-get-ready-windsor-ontario-canada-is-coming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in Windsor, Ontario, Canada<\/a> by two wrestlers &#8211; Canadian indie grappler <strong>&#8220;The Canadian Destroyer&#8221; Doug Chevalier<\/strong> and <strong>Scott D&#8217;Amore<\/strong> &#8211; alongside Chuck Fader, BCW instantly created a brand unique to Canadian indie wrestling, bringing in then-current WWE Superstars &#8211; such as <strong>Edge, Christian, The Rock<\/strong>, <strong>Mark Henry<\/strong> and others &#8211; as well as bringing in ECW and TNA\/Impact stars in the 2000s, and integrating them with emerging Canadian indie talent and homegrown stars from <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2016\/10\/23\/can-am-wrestling-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">their own acclaimed Can-Am Wrestling School.<\/a>\u00a0Apart from being The Rock&#8217;s only indie appearance and having moments such as having the NWA World Heavyweight title change hands at a BCW event, <em><strong>International Incident<\/strong><\/em>, in 2005 (that saw <strong>Jeff Jarrett<\/strong> defeat <strong>Raven<\/strong>), BCW has also been a breeding ground for many of today&#8217;s top stars, including WWE Superstars <strong>Rhyno<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Bobby Roode<\/strong> and <strong>Eric Young<\/strong>, Impact stars <strong>Moose, Rosemary, Petey Williams<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Sienna<\/strong>, 2x All Japan Triple Crown winner<strong> Joe Doering<\/strong>, ROH tag team <strong>Motor City Machine Guns<\/strong>, WWE Cruiserweight Classic competitor and Canadian indie legend\u00a0<strong>Tyson Dux<\/strong>\u00a0and NJPW&#8217;s <strong>KUSHIDA<\/strong> to name a few. Prior to WWE bringing back ECW following the promotions demise, BCW also became the home of many ECW stars, including <strong>Tommy Dreamer, Shane Douglas<\/strong> and <strong>Sabu\u00a0<\/strong>and one of the first indie promotions in North America to showcase New Japan stars, when <strong>Kazuchika Okada<\/strong>, <strong>Shinsuke Nakamura<\/strong>, <strong>Hiroshi Tanahashi<\/strong>, and others came to Windsor in 2014.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21290\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21290\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-21290\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/07\/20839336_10156462143888496_2105223211_n-e1530655557395.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"397\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21290\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: BCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At twenty five years old, BCW is also one of the longest running Canadian wrestling promotions in history. Last year, with owner Scott D&#8217;Amore assuming a mantle of leadership with the new Impact Wrestling management executive team, BCW entered into a partnership with Impact and Anthem Entertainment, with several matches from BCW appearing on Impact television. While coy about who will appear for the huge event, one thing fans can expect is a fun run through BCW&#8217;s rich history. &#8220;I think what people can look forward to is a celebration of 25 years of quality wrestling,&#8221; BCW owner and Impact Executive VP Scott D&#8217;Amore told us. &#8220;Our goal is to feature stars from the various eras of BCW &#8211; LaSalle Arena, the 2 Ciociaro Club runs (B-ECW &amp; TNA\/Controversy in Canada), right up to the St. Clair College Events.
