Holden Wilen, writer and reporter of the Baltimore Business Journal in a recent interview with Sinclair Broadcast Group INC. CEO <strong>Chris Ripley<\/strong>, that the company wanted to expand Ring of Honor in light of the massive deal that WWE struck with the likes of FOX that was worth $1 Billion for <strong><i>Smackdown Live <\/i><\/strong>alone.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20270\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/06\/1200px-Madison_Square_Garden_February_2013-e1529162210674.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In addition to Ring of Honor\u2019s plans to expand, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwinsider.com\/article\/117917\/more-details-on-aaamsg-and-the-larger-story-at-play.html?p=1\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to PWInsider<\/a>, Mexico\u2019s Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide will be running a show in Madison Square Garden in September becoming the 1st non-WWE wrestling organization to run a show in what is considered holy ground for the McMahon ran promotion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Also according to PWInsider, Madison Square Garden management is upset with WWE for doing any of their marquee events at The Garden during <strong><i>WrestleMania 35 <\/i><\/strong>weekend so at this point, MSG management is more open to non WWE entities running shows in the Garden.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20265\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20265\" style=\"width: 572px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20265\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/06\/madison-square-garden-theater-inside-msg-saw-string-cheese-within-the-at-decorations-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"572\" height=\"402\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/06\/madison-square-garden-theater-inside-msg-saw-string-cheese-within-the-at-decorations-6.jpg 572w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/06\/madison-square-garden-theater-inside-msg-saw-string-cheese-within-the-at-decorations-6-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/06\/madison-square-garden-theater-inside-msg-saw-string-cheese-within-the-at-decorations-6-100x70.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 572px) 100vw, 572px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20265\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The HULU Theatre, inside MSG, may be the venue of choice for ROH or AAA, with a capacity of 2500-5000. (Photo: MSG)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As a counter,\u00a0Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported on Thursday that WWE is doing everything in their power to make sure that Ring of Honor performing in the Garden from happening. It is of note that WWE did at one point have leverage back then to do so and that is why no other wrestling company or entity was able to work The Garden, however with the relationship souring it might not be the case this time. For over sixty years, WWE has had some massive marquee moments in MSG. MSG hosted the inaugural\u00a0<em><strong>WrestleMania (1, X, XX)\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>&amp;\u00a0<strong><em>Summerslam (&#8217;88, &#8217;91, 98)<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>events and MSG has the honor of being one of a few venues that could say hosted all of the big four events (including\u00a0<strong><em>Survivor Series (&#8217;96, &#8217;02, &#8217;11)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>&amp; Royal Rumble (00 &amp; &#8217;08) ).\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Madison Square Garden means a lot to the likes of\u00a0<strong>Dwayne &#8220;The Rock&#8221; Johnson.\u00a0<\/strong>A man who debuted at the &#8217;96\u00a0<em>Survivor Series,\u00a0<\/em>had plenty of excellent moments at the Garden in the likes of a classic ladder match between\u00a0<strong>Triple H\u00a0<\/strong>at\u00a0<em>Summerslam &#8217;98\u00a0<\/em>and winning his only Royal Rumble in 2000 (despite controversy) and where he made in in ring return at\u00a0<em>Survivor Series 2011\u00a0<\/em>seven years after his last appearance in the same MSG arena. This is where superstars made great returns from career threatening injuries.\u00a0January 7, 2002, Triple H made is return after eight months away from the ring to a deafening New York faithful. Shawn Michaels ten months later in his second match since his return, won the World Heavyweight Championship in the inaugural <em>Elimination Chamber <\/em>match.\u00a0John Cena made a surprise return to the\u00a0<strong><em>2008 Royal Rumble\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>to win his first of two Rumble matches.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20269\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20269\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20269\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/06\/7476c-1521286366-800-e1529162346278.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20269\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: WWE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Since Madison Square Garden hasn&#8217;t had a television or pay per view appearance in quite some time due to the supposed expenses of what it would cost to do live television there, MSG has been downgraded to house shows and mediocre WWE Network specials, while the Barclay&#8217;s Center has been getting a lot of WWE attention.
