Last night at the Gilt Nightclub in Orlando, Florida, Major League Wrestling (MLW)<\/strong> crowned their first tag team champions since 2004 in a triple elimination match that saw The Lucha Brothers<\/strong> (Pentagon Jr. <\/strong>& Fenix<\/strong>) defeat Team TBD<\/strong> (Jason Cade<\/strong> & Wheeler YUTA<\/strong>) and The Dirty Blondes<\/strong> (Leo Brien<\/strong> & Mike Patrick<\/strong>), who were accompanied by their manager, former WCW Superstar Col. Robert Parker\u00a0<\/strong>(for those who haven’t watched MLW Fusion<\/strong><\/em> yet because they don’t have access to BeIN Sports, fear not – they upload each episode the following week to the BeIN USA YouTube Channel<\/a>)<\/p>\n

New MLW Tag Team Champions Crowned at FUSION Tapings (SPOILERS)<\/h1>\n

MLW hasn’t had tag team champions since their first run, with the inaugural and last champions being The Extreme Horsemen<\/strong> duo of former ECW Originals, Simon Diamond<\/strong> and CW Anderson<\/strong>. The titles had remained vacant, even after MLW started back up last year, but the company first had to crown it’s new World Heavyweight Champion, Shane Strickland<\/strong>. The match was filmed for an upcoming episode of MLW Fusion<\/strong><\/em> on BeIN Sports.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that in MLW, The Lucha Brothers go by Penta El 0M<\/strong> and Rey Fenix<\/strong>, as opposed to the Pentagon Jr and Fenix names they use while in Lucha Underground, Impact Wrestling, AAA<\/strong> and CMLL<\/strong>. Following their victory, they treated the fans at ringside to some tequila.<\/p>\n

Since departing AAA last year, the two brothers have seen their stock rise considerably on the North American and international independent circuits, where they duo have won the PWG<\/strong> World Tag Team Championship and the Wrestling Alliance Revolution (WAR)<\/strong> Tag Team titles in Ecuador together. On a singles note, Pentagon Jr. is also a 2x PCW ULTRA<\/strong> Heavyweight Champion, former Impact\u00a0World Heavyweight Champion, AAW<\/strong> Heavyweight and Heritage Champion since departing, while his brother Fenix has won the AAW Heavyweight Championship, The Crash<\/strong> Cruiserweight Championship, Rockstar Pro<\/strong> American Luchacore Championship and the AAW Tag Team titles alongside AR Fox<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
