This past Monday saw the 2018 edition of Stardom<\/strong>‘s Cinderella Tournament<\/strong><\/em> in Japan, a one day 16-woman tournament where the winner gets a wish of her choosing. This year’s tournament was without last year’s winner, World of Stardom Champion Toni Storm<\/strong>, but it featured Maya Iwatani, Io Shirai, Konami, Natsu Sumire, Hazuki, Hana Kimura, Tam Nakano, Jungle Kyona, Kagetsu<\/strong>, and Saki Kashima<\/strong>, plus foreign participants in the UK’s Chardonnay<\/strong> and Candy Floss<\/strong>, Ireland’s Martina The Session Moth<\/strong> and the US’ Brandi Rhodes<\/strong>. The finals featured 18-year old Momo Watanabe<\/strong> scoring a huge upset victory of New Zealand’s Bea Priestley<\/strong> to capture her first Cinderella Tournament.<\/p>\n

Watanabe, formerly known as JK Fighter<\/strong>, has been wrestling for Stardom since she was only 14 years old, and is a part of the faction Queen’s Quest<\/strong>, alongside Wonder of Stardom Champion Io Shirai, as well as Chardonnay, Viper<\/strong>, AZM<\/strong>, Konami, HZK and her finals opponent, Bea Priestley. For her winning wish, she challenged her faction leader Io Shirai for a shot at her Wonder of Stardom title. Momo Watanabe is a former Artist of Stardom Champion (Stardom’s trios title), which she won alongside Shirai and HZK.<\/p>\n
