In those days, one of the more emblematic shows of IWA PR was <em><strong>Juicio Final<\/strong><\/em>, were top stars like <strong>Mesias<\/strong>, <strong>Apolo<\/strong>, <strong>Jeff<\/strong> <strong>Jarrett<\/strong>, among others, created lasting memories. Now, in 2018, with their first show in 2018, it seems that those same factors are once again appearing in the island.<\/p>\n<p><strong>World Wrestling League<\/strong> returned victoriously in a weird Friday night show \u2013 the shows are usually on Saturday \u2013 with <em>Juicio Final<\/em>. The show was in the same building that <strong>WWC<\/strong> has been running since their return in 2018 as well. <strong>WWL,<\/strong> with almost 200 fans, surpassed any attendance that WWC had in that building and the wrestling atmosphere was said to be on another level.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17953\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17953\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17953\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/04\/dd3dab_33bd2cc9da7c4333aa45bf08cea25f0c-mv2-e1524788330803.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17953\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Contralona<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The show saw <strong>JC Navarro<\/strong> finally winning the Americas Championship against long-time veteran <strong>Spectro<\/strong>. Navarro is built like a pitbull, was trained in CMLL, and was billed back in 2017 to have a breakout year in 2018 in Puerto Rico. He is part of the <em>Puro Macho<\/em> stable which includes <strong>Electro<\/strong>, <strong>PMS<\/strong> and <strong>Khris<\/strong> <strong>Diaz<\/strong>. The latter as a trio won the WWL Trios Championship from <strong>Mark<\/strong> <strong>Davidson<\/strong>, <strong>Excellent<\/strong> <strong>Martell<\/strong> and <strong>Allison<\/strong>. Davidson, who was trained by Star Roger, turned heel and is now expected to have a solid year.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17954\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17954\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17954\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/04\/dd3dab_d570b6dc3d75455d93c9b32ffb84a3b9-mv2-e1524788450695.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17954\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Contralona<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The big moments of the show were when <strong>Mecha<\/strong> <strong>Wolf<\/strong> <strong>450<\/strong> beat <strong>BIG<\/strong> for the WWL title, which was a title that was alluding the 2-times WWC Universal Champion. <strong>Savio Vega<\/strong> returned to WWL and is now the leader of the face faction feuding with <strong>Manny Ferno<\/strong>\u2019s heel group Puro Macho. Angel Fashion wasn\u2019t present in the show and Mike Mendoza &amp; Vanilla Vargas lost to <strong>Roxxy<\/strong> and <strong>Vassago<\/strong>. <strong>Pupe<\/strong> <strong>Jackson<\/strong> beat <strong>Payatronic<\/strong> and <strong>Aidem<\/strong> <strong>Grimm<\/strong> to win the WWL Cruiserweight title. \u00a0The next show for WWL is on May 26, the same day as CWA\u2019s Anniversary show.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>WWC Struggling Big Time<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17956\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17956\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17956\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/04\/31239466_1819942918067620_945034325515419411_n-e1524788600923.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17956\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: WWC<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>WWL had a successful return, <strong>CWA<\/strong> is solid and WWC is&#8230;struggling.\u00a0The \u201cnumber 1\u201d promotion in the island isn\u2019t doing much these days to stand out. They vacated the Universal championship last time they had a show, plus the Puerto Rican title picture looks like a mess with so much changing of the title holders. Some people want to make excuses, that <strong>WWC<\/strong> knows what they are doing, but is becoming clear they\u2019re out of touch with reality. They vacated the most prestigious title that they can offer so that <strong>Mighty<\/strong> <strong>Ursus<\/strong> (who has lost his magic) and <strong>Thunder<\/strong> (the man that started the fall of attendance in 2017) can battle each other out for the title in their next show (4\/29). As of right now, the only promising things in WWC are <strong>OT Fernandez&#8217;<\/strong>\u00a0heel run and <strong>Bellito<\/strong>\u2019s recent breakout performances.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>CWA On A Steady Road<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17957\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17957\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17957\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/04\/31170201_942856455887489_7583684485384765440_o-e1524788675286.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17957\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: CWA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Championship Wrestling Association (CWA)<\/strong> is having their <strong><em>Desafio<\/em><\/strong> show in Toa Baja these weekend, with their main event being <strong>Star<\/strong> <strong>Roger<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/2017\/06\/16\/how-star-roger-is-getting-out-of-the-shadow-of-carlos-colon\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">who is having a historic CWA title reign<\/a> \u2013 defending the CWA championship against former WWE Developmental wrestler and former WWC Universal champion, <strong>Black Pain (Monster Pain<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>CWA turned Roger heel \u2013 as expected \u2013 and is building a big push for <strong>Justin<\/strong> <strong>Dynamite<\/strong>, who is in line to win the CWA title off from Roger in the summer. Other talents like the CWA Tag Champions <strong>Los Fugitivos <\/strong>(<strong>Lynx <\/strong>&amp; <strong>Niche<\/strong>) are having a solid run and the Cuban gimmick of <strong>Rodrigo Garcia <\/strong>is getting over very big with the fans. CWA will have on 5\/29 their <em><strong>Anniversary X<\/strong><\/em> show with the debut of CMLL star <strong>Car\u00edstico<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>CKCW With An All-Puerto Rican Main Event \u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17958\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17958\" style=\"width: 393px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17958\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/04\/Dbppg4JWsAEzBa6-e1524788814754.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"393\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17958\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: CKCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Cleveland Knights Championship Wrestling (CKCW)<\/strong> is having a big show in May 20, and their main event will feature arguably of the best tag team in Puerto Rico\u2019s wrestling history, <strong>Thunder<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Lightning<\/strong>, against the 3rd Generation of Mike Mendoza and Angel Fashion (<strong>Holy Fashion<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17959\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17959\" style=\"width: 393px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17959\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/04\/DbRBqh2U0AA1iXl-e1524788863226.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"393\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17959\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: CKCW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The promotion, which is <a href=\"http:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/2017\/11\/22\/ckcw-puerto-rico-wrestling\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">built as a gateway for Puerto Ricans<\/a> to the state, is having an impressive array of indie talent in their show Vanished Empire. Impact Wrestling\u2019s <strong>Brian<\/strong> <strong>Cage<\/strong> will debut against former WWL champion and member of Holy Fashion, <strong>El Nazareno<\/strong>. LAX\u2019s <strong>Diamante<\/strong> will meet with a familiar enemy, Vanilla Vargas. This will be a title defence for Vargas \u2013 she is the CKCW Women\u2019s champion \u2013 who, in the past, fought Diamante in 2017\u2019s Match of the Year &#8211; <strong>LAX<\/strong> vs. The 3rd Generation (Mike Mendoza, Fashion and Vanilla Vargas). The most intriguing match of the night will be the return of \u201cThe Juice\u201d <strong>Juventud<\/strong> <strong>Guerrera<\/strong>, who will wrestle arguably the best prospect right now in the island, Justin Dynamite. This is a huge opportunity for the future of CWA, who is getting his third match in the US in May. Other names for the May show are <strong>JD<\/strong> <strong>Smooth<\/strong> and Lucha Underground\u2019s <strong>Famous B<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Other News from the Caribbean <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&#8211; <strong>Sammy Guevara<\/strong> is set to appear in <strong>AAA\u2019s<\/strong> <strong>Verano de Esc\u00e1ndalo<\/strong>. Guevara usually wrestles for <strong>The Crash<\/strong> shows, but with <strong>Konnan<\/strong> now in AAA, he is set to appear in AAA.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/2018\/04\/21\/juventud-guerra-invades-aaa-with-mad-and-konnan-is-on-the-way\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Speaking of Konnan<\/a>, the Wrestling Observer said that he was the booker for AAA\u2019s 4\/20 TV tapings. <strong>Dave\u00a0<\/strong><b>Meltzer<\/b>\u00a0added that <strong>Vampiro<\/strong> will stay as a on camera figure in AAA.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <strong>Dragon Lee<\/strong> was injured \u2013 torn quad \u2013 at last Friday\u2019s <strong>CMLL<\/strong> Arena Mexico show, in a match against Car\u00edstico. The injury could affect Lee\u2019s appearance in <strong>New Japan Pro Wrestling<\/strong>\u2019s <em><strong>Best of the Super Juniors<\/strong><\/em> but is being said that he will be ready in three weeks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Mark Davidson and Vanilla Vargas will join <strong>Alberto el Patron<\/strong>, <strong>Hijo de Dos Caras<\/strong> and the Nasty Boys for <strong>Coastal Championship Wrestling<\/strong>\u2019s Summer Glory show.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gte11EHWnOs<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <strong>100% Lucha<\/strong> announce that their <strong>King of Indies<\/strong> tournament will take place in summer of 2018. They also released a funny, yet interesting, video of one of their big hopes, <strong>El Gentil<\/strong>. While in Puerto Rico the Strong Style is getting a lot of traction, Gentil is using a more European base-style in his matches, making him a unique character.
