Jackson Drake and Tavion Heights have had an intense rivalry over the last couple of weeks on NXT. The animosity started on the June 16, 2026 episode of NXT. The two of them had a number one contender’s match to determine who would face Myles Borne for the NXT North American Championship at the Great American Bash. Heights ended up winning<\/a>, but couldn’t get the title. On the July 7 NXT, he decided to apologize to Borne for the comments he made leading up to the match.<\/p>\n

All the members of the Vanity Project came out and interrupted him, leading to an argument. His number one contender’s match win was called a fluke, which didn’t make him happy. That soon led to him getting beaten down without anyone to help him. That’s when Borne arrived<\/a> to make the save, leading to a reconciliation between them afterward. The next week, a match was made between them. Could Drake get his win back, or would Heights once again be in the victory column?<\/p>\n

Jackson Drake Gets Statement Win on NXT Over Tavion Heights<\/h2>\n

Both Drake and Heights have had similar goals for a while now. They both want to win championship gold for the first time in NXT. That means that they’ll do whatever they have to do in order to get a title match. For Drake, it’s using the Vanity Project as a distraction to get key victories, like his win over Mason Rook<\/a> two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Heights takes care of things by himself, such as attacking Tony D’Angelo to get an NXT Championship match. Another one-on-one match between them seemed inevitable for weeks, and now it was finally happening.<\/p>\n

The match<\/a> started with both men locking up. But that didn’t last long, as Drake tripped Heights and kicked his knee when he got back up, sending him down. Heights got up and slammed him to the ground three times before Drake retreated to the corner. He bent down in the middle of the ring, wanting some offense from his opponent.<\/p>\n

When that happened, Heights got him in a side headlock. He struggled for a while before turning over for the pinfall, but Heights kicked out. He drove Heights into the corner and struck him several times, which was met with another headlock and a suplex for a failed pinfall.<\/p>\n

After more quick bouts of offense, he went for another suplex, but Drake hit him in the ears and then hit the big boot to the face for an unsuccessful pin attempt. Heights got hit with two shoulder tackles, but suplexed Drake out of the ring afterward. He came back in the ring and hit a cutter for a failed pinfall.<\/p>\n

He then went for a DDT, but Heights countered with a northern lights suplex for another unsuccessful pinfall. The two men then grappled and threw punches until Drake twisted Heights’ leg as he was up against the turnbuckle.<\/p>\n

Then they grappled with their legs around each other until Heights went for an unsuccessful roll-up pinfall. Drake tackled his leg again before getting him in the figure-four submission. Heights struggled before rolling over to shift the weight to him. Drake crawled to the bottom rope and touched it, forcing Heights to break the hold. Heights hit him with tons of offense before tossing him over the top rope onto Baylor and Smokes with a belly-to-belly suplex.<\/p>\n

Heights tossed him back in the ring and suplexed him again. But Baylor distracted him by getting on the ring apron. Heights tried to go for another suplex, but Drake countered with the roll-up to get the victory. He was shocked as the members of the Vanity Project celebrated the win. Once again, the faction’s numbers advantage proved beneficial. Another confrontation between Drake and Heights will definitely be happening soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
