WWE Saturday Night\u2019s Main Event<\/a> rose from the ashes in 2006. As a staple of WWE\u2019s Golden Era, it was a great show that produced many memorable moments. Then, in 1992, it vanished from our television screens, leaving a huge void in WWE\u2019s programming.<\/p>\n

The eras came and went, and Saturday Night was left without a big event for WWE to promote. Then, after 14 years, WWE brought the fan favorite back, and Saturday Night\u2019s Main Event had returned.<\/p>\n

2006 to 2008<\/a> saw 5 episodes of the Golden Era staple. The sense of nostalgia around the show was spot on, while WWE created all-new memories. Saturday Night\u2019s Main Event produced incredible moments and became an integral part of the two years it returned. Below, we will look at the greatest moments from Saturday Night\u2019s Main Event\u2019s revival.<\/p>\n

Shawn Michaels Takes On The McMahons (SNME 2006)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Shawn Michaels engaged in a bitter, if not ridiculous, program with the McMahons in 2006<\/a>. The match with Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 22 was the highlight, but this Street Fight is right up there in quality. Shane McMahon was nimbler than his father, so he was able to work well opposite Michaels. They gave the crowd a great show, working well within the Street Fight stipulation.<\/p>\n

Naturally, this match was going to devolve into chaos, and seeing Vince McMahon interfere made sense. It was an inoffensive match that helped to increase the hype as the boss and HBK marched into WrestleMania.<\/p>\n

Mickie James and Trish Stratus Get Personal (SNME 2006) <\/strong><\/h2>\n

The program that took place between Trish Stratus and Mickie James was a thing of beauty. Mickie James played the obsessed-fan gimmick perfectly, and we could see Trish Stratus growing increasingly uncomfortable as the weeks progressed. James’ unhealthy affection towards Stratus was an interesting story, and one that showed WWE\u2019s ever-evolving faith in the women\u2019s division.<\/p>\n

It was only a matter of time before this program reached its boiling point, and that took place at Saturday Night\u2019s Main Event<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Stratus was uneasy about tagging with Mickie James, and that was mainly the reason why she didn\u2019t tag her number one fan into the match. Following the victory, Mickie James was looking for some recognition from Stratus, even going in for a kiss.<\/p>\n

The advance was met with a shove from Trish Stratus, and the retaliation was swift in the form of a Mick Kick from James. It was the expected breaking point in their story, and one that led to a fantastic changing of the guard at WrestleMania 22.<\/p>\n

Matt Hardy Boxes With The Real Deal (SNME 2007) <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Not all the moments from Saturday Night\u2019s Main Event to make this list were fantastic. Some were so ridiculous that they bear repeating, such as the boxing match that occurred between Matt Hardy and former World Champion Evander Holyfield.<\/p>\n

United States Champion MVP and Matt Hardy had a great feud going on in 2007. When WWE brought SNME to Madison Square Garden, these two were set to square off in front of the New York crowd, but of course, MVP had other plans. He brought in Holyfield as a substitute, which was a great injection of some mainstream celebrity, but the gimmick was used poorly.<\/p>\n

There wasn\u2019t much of a match to take place, with neither Holyfield nor Hardy getting much offense in. MVP constantly interfered, spurring the former World Champion to knock the United States Champion out to end the exhibition. This attempt to further MVP and Matt Hardy\u2019s program failed spectacularly, but it’s still talked about today, so there’s something.<\/p>\n

Edge v Jeff Hardy (SNME 2008) <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Edge and Jeff Hardy have one of the great rivalries in WWE history.<\/a> From the tag team division to the singles arena, these men have gone to war with every championship on the line. They defined the ladder match gimmick, competing all over the globe. When Edge needed an opponent to gear up for a SummerSlam showdown with the Undertaker, Jeff Hardy was the man WWE chose to stand opposite him.<\/p>\n

In the long history of Edge and Jeff Hardy, this match won\u2019t be talked about much. That is not a comment on the match quality, as this was a tight 12-minute match that was more than deserving of the main event spot.<\/p>\n

There wasn\u2019t any new ground broken, but the chemistry was there with both men putting their best effort forward for the Washington crowd. Saturday Night\u2019s Main Event revival didn\u2019t have many great matches, but this one was the best of the lot.<\/p>\n

The Legend Killer Goes After Hulkamania <\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Randy Orton\u2019s career took an upward turn when he adopted his Legend Killer gimmick. The list of Hall of Famers that fell by Orton\u2019s hand was incredible. He showed no respect to any man who laid the groundwork that Orton stood on, and the heat showered on him was insane. In the summer of 2006, Randy Orton took things to another level when he put the biggest legend of them all in his sights.<\/p>\n

On an episode of Saturday Night\u2019s Main Event, Randy Orton was putting the moves on Hulk Hogan\u2019s daughter, Brooke. A move that didn\u2019t go unnoticed by Hogan, and the Immortal One shunted Orton aside. This spurred Randy Orton into attacking Hulk Hogan in the parking lot and delivering a devastating RKO onto a car.<\/p>\n

This vicious act started a chain of events that would lead to Randy Orton taking on Hulk Hogan at SummerSlam. Hogan was the biggest legend for Randy Orton to go after, and while it didn\u2019t end the way he would have wanted, it was a watershed moment for the Legend Killer.<\/p>\n
