At the event, the WWE Universe saw the King and Queen of the Ring get crowned. With Oba Femi and Iyo Sky emerging victorious, both superstars have earned championship matches of their choosing at WWE SummerSlam 2026.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2026\/06\/27\/iyo-sky-crowned-queen-of-the-ring-2026-at-wwe-night-of-champions-summerslam-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">IYO SKY<\/a> will challenge Women&#8217;s World Champion Liv Morgan, while Femi must determine whether to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns or Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn. Following the results at Night of Champions, here are some matches that might take place at &#8220;The Biggest Party of the Summer&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h2>Matches We&#8217;d Like to See at WWE SummerSlam 2026<\/h2>\n<h2>Bron Breakker vs. Bronson Reed<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed steal the spotlight with first entrance: Raw highlights, June 2, 2025\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EcD8YYZoKyY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>When Seth Rollins was feuding with Bron Breakker, he made it clear that he was putting an end to The Vision. Breakker&#8217;s loss in the Steel Cage Match at Night of Champions may have foreshadowed the end of the dominant faction.<\/p>\n<p>On RAW, Paul Heyman and The Vision can show Breakker how much they appreciate him, only for it to be a setup. Bronson Reed could make an unexpected return by attacking Breakker. A story can be done where Heyman no longer views Breakker as a promising asset to The Vision, thus removing him from the group, followed by a beatdown from Austin Theory and Logan Paul.<\/p>\n<p>This could lead to a one-on-one match at WWE SummerSlam, marking Breakker&#8217;s first main roster match as a babyface. A match of this caliber can pave the way for both Breakker and Reed&#8217;s singles careers.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Nick Aldis vs. Gunther<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Gunther and Aldis get into an intense confrontation: Night of Champions 2026 Post-Show highlights\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OUzDhI-tjWY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>At WrestleMania, Gunther defeated Seth Rollins as a favor for Paul Heyman. Due to Gunther completing his part of the bargain, Heyman got Gunther a lucrative deal to go to SmackDown. This deal granted Gunther an opportunity for the Undisputed WWE Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for Gunther, his plans have gone south. At <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2026\/05\/18\/6-possible-matches-for-wwe-clash-in-italy\/\" target=\"_self\">Clash in Italy<\/a>, Gunther came up short in his attempt to win the WWE Championship due to a finish where the referee counted to three when Gunther&#8217;s foot was under the bottom rope.<\/p>\n<p>Gunther&#8217;s second setback came when Sami Zayn, serving as the special guest referee, cost him another opportunity. The final nail in the coffin occurred at Night of Champions, where he failed once again in a triple threat match, involving Rhodes and Zayn.<\/p>\n<p>Gunther would then get into a heated altercation with SmackDown General Manager, Nick Aldis, backstage. This confrontation can be a build for a match between Aldis and Gunther. Known for ending wrestling careers, Gunther can challenge Aldis to a match at WWE SummerSlam, where if Aldis loses, he must resign as SmackDown General Manager.<\/p>\n<h2>CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"FULL SEGMENT: CM Punk and Seth Rollins have an intense final confrontation: Raw, Dec. 30, 2024\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zYvFqLGeus4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Now that Seth Rollins has finally put The Vision behind him, he can focus on what&#8217;s important to him. Obviously, his main priority is to regain the World Heavyweight Championship he had to relinquish. Other than targeting Roman Reigns for the gold, what if he decides to handle other unfinished business?<\/p>\n<p>Ever since CM Punk made his return to WWE, Rollins has been a thorn in his side. For over two years, both men have been going back and forth with each other. Now, it&#8217;s finally time for these two to settle the score.<\/p>\n<p>With RAW being held in CM Punk&#8217;s hometown of Chicago on July 6th, it would be convenient for Rollins to confront CM Punk and throw in a challenge for WWE SummerSlam.<\/p>\n<p>This time, it would be a match that would bring this long and heated rivalry to a close. Maybe WWE can put these two men in a Hell in a Cell Match. Now, it has escalated more than ever. At first, Cargill cost Flair her chance to win the Queen of the Ring tournament. In retaliation, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CHohSLea5DA\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Flair cost Cargill<\/a> her shot at becoming the WWE Women&#8217;s United States Champion. With the expectation of these two going against each other in a standard match, what if WWE decides on a different approach for this rivalry?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"max-width: 610px\"><smartframe-embed class=\"smartframe_wp_element\" customer-id=\"8afcbf7a9ed3fd6bf7763b62addc7cf8\" image-id=\"3He6PSCvcnca\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2880px; aspect-ratio: 2880\/4320;\" ><\/smartframe-embed><\/p>\n<p>Currently, WWE Women&#8217;s Champion <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2026\/06\/12\/rhea-ripley-injured-confirmed-on-6-12-wwe-smackdown\/\" target=\"_self\">Rhea Ripley is sidelined with a knee injury<\/a>. Some fans might believe that Cody Rhodes will get his rematch against Zayn, but WWE may decide to do something different.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"max-width: 610px\"><smartframe-embed class=\"smartframe_wp_element\" customer-id=\"b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf\" image-id=\"WmOBp7bOYB1p\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4882px; aspect-ratio: 4882\/3250;\" ><\/smartframe-embed><\/p>\n<p>In two weeks, WWE will host Saturday Night&#8217;s Main Event at Madison Square Garden. Rhodes may receive his rematch at that event instead. With the high chance that Zayn is going to cement his heel turn, he can attack Rhodes to prevent him from competing for the WWE Title.<\/p>\n<p>Thinking he outsmarted Rhodes and everyone else, Nick Aldis can still book a championship match where Zayn defends the title against a replacement. That replacement ends up being Brock Lesnar.<\/p>\n<p>The match finishes off with Lesnar making quick work of Zayn to capture the championship. If that&#8217;s the case, then Lesnar can go on to defend the championship against Oba Femi at SummerSlam. This would leave Rhodes even more frustrated, as his pursuit of the WWE Championship would take longer than anticipated.<\/p>\n<p>A match between Rhodes and Zayn would be fresh to see since no titles would be involved. It would also be great to see Rhodes not chase the gold for once. Eventually, Rhodes will be champion once again, but for now, WWE should have him focus on other ventures.<\/p>\n<p>If these matches come to fruition, it raises the question of who will challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship.<\/p>\n<p>What matches do you see happening at WWE SummerSlam 2026?
