After leaving No Quarter Catch Crew and his\u00a0<\/span><\/span>friend<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Tavion Heights, Myles Borne embarked on a solo run. That led him to many victories, including winning the NXT North American Championship on the February 24, <\/span>2026,<\/span>\u00a0episode of NXT.\u00a0By defeating Ethan Page, he captured his first title<\/a> in\u00a0NXT\u00a0and ended Page\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>273-day<\/span>\u00a0title reign. At the Great American Bash on June 28,\u00a0<\/span>he\u2019ll<\/span>\u00a0defend the title\u00a0<\/span><\/span>once again<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>With no clear opponent,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>a couple of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>challengers<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>wanted an opportunity to face him. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A number one\u00a0<\/span>contender\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0match was made between Heights and Jackson Drake<\/a> on the June 16 NXT. After an extremely\u00a0<\/span>hard-fought<\/span>\u00a0battle, Heights ended up winning and getting the title match opportunity against someone he knows really well. They were friends when they were in No Quarter Catch Crew, but recent developments have put a strain on their relationship. Given their history together, Heights winning the number one\u00a0<\/span>contender\u2019s<\/span> match was a great decision.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Tavion Heights Can Win His First Championship Against an Old Friend<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Borne and Heights\u2019 friendship goes\u00a0way back\u00a0to when they were both in the\u00a0faction\u00a0No Quarter Catch Crew.\u00a0The two of them joined the faction in September 2023 and June 2024.\u00a0They had good matches and a partnership\u00a0going, but\u00a0Borne felt he wanted to go off on his own.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He defeated\u00a0fellow\u00a0member Charlie Dempsey last\u00a0June\u00a0in a rounds match where he had to win\u00a0in order to\u00a0leave the faction.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0led to\u00a0a pretty good\u00a0solo career so far, as he is the NXT North American Champion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Heights\u00a0also defeated Dempsey with the same stipulation to leave and\u00a0embark on his own solo run\u00a0the following month. After failed attempts to win the NXT Speed Championship<\/a> and NXT Championship, he has a chance to win his first title at the Great American Bash. He knew that if he won the number one contender\u2019s match, he would have to face an old friend. That\u2019ll give him the motivation to get the win for himself.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019ll Prove to Myles Borne That He is Capable of Being a Champion<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

The two men remained friends after they both left No Quarter Catch Crew. But recent actions by Tavion Heights have left Borne questioning who he is. On the April 28 NXT, Heights was one of the many men that interacted with Tony D\u2019Angelo on the first Tuesday night that he held the NXT Championship. <\/span><\/p>\n

D\u2019Angelo defeated him<\/a> the following week, but there was an even bigger story coming out of the confrontation. Borne\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0like how he attacked\u00a0D\u2019Angelo without any reason. <\/span><\/p>\n

He responded that he wanted a chance to become a champion. That behavior didn\u2019t sit right with Borne because he knew that at some point, his old friend would come after his title. Now at the Great American Bash, Heights will indeed challenge for the NXT North American Championship. Myles Borne will have to fight off someone he thought was a friend to retain his title. If Heights wins, he\u2019ll prove to Borne that he can hold a title in NXT.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Match Will Be Very Exciting for the Fans<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Borne won the NXT North American Championship after years of hard work inside the ring. He joined No Quarter Catch Crew, had great matches as part of the faction, then voluntarily left in order to try a solo run.<\/span><\/p>\n

That has led him to his first-ever championship in NXT. Heights has the same journey, except for the fact that he\u2019s never held a title before. He\u2019s willing to do anything in order to get an opportunity to hold championship gold, including attacking D\u2019Angelo for an NXT Championship match, which he lost the following week.<\/span><\/p>\n

That later led to him going after Borne\u2019s title after failing to beat D\u2019Angelo. He now has a chance to claim his first title against an old friend after winning a great number one contender\u2019s match against Drake. Fans who have followed their stories closely should be excited.
