This will determine which of the two wrestlers will compete at the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Finals. Ahead of their 12-man tag team match tonight, MJF and Mark Briscoe will unveil their teammates for Forbidden Door 2026. Last year, Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay were allies, but as they near the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation’s Men’s Tournament, will that brotherly love remain?

Though unadvertised, I would expect more meat from wrestlers ahead of Forbidden Door. Kenny Omega and NJPW’s Zack Sabre Jr need to add more substance to their match. Additionally, AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla could enjoy the same with Stardom’s own Starlight Kid.

Where is AEW Dynamite Tonight?

AEW Dynamite airs live tonight, from the Smart Financial Centre in Houston, Texas.

What Time is AEW Dynamite Tonight?

HBO Max and the TBS Network air AEW Dynamite live tonight at 8 PM ET.

AEW Dynamite Quick Results

Kenny Omega defeated Tony Nese

BroDido defeated Death Riders

Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Semifinal: Mercedes Mone defeated Hazuki

Results From AEW Dynamite Tonight (6/17/26)

MJF hinted at his team for the main event and Forbidden Door

Flanked by the horde that is the Don Callis Family, MJF addressed Kevin Knight, Andrade El Idolo, Swerve Strickland, Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, and Mark Briscoe. Callis listed MJF’s teammates, including Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Jake Doyle, Kazuchika Okada, and Andrade El Idolo, much to Trent Beretta’s sadness. Idolo asked MJF how he knew. Callis emphasized Idolo’s need for patience.

Kenny Omega defeated Tony Nese

Nese postured before Omega; his hubris cost him as Omega quickly usurped him, culminating in a Snapdragon Suplex. A V-Trigger to Nese and to Smart Mark Sterling positioned Omega further in the lead. Omega’s One-Winged Angel sealed the deal, soundly putting his foe away.

Post-match: Zack Sabre Jr, Mikey Nicholls, and Bad Dude Tito of NJPW’s TMDK faction crept Omega out of the ring. Jack Perry and the Young Bucks joined Omega at the entrance.

Match review: You couldn’t ask for a better squash match to make Omega look good. Still, I wish this match had given Nese more time to show off with Omega.

BroDido (Brody King & Bandido) defeated Death Riders (Jon Moxley & Daniel Garcia)

Garcia baited Bandido, planting him with a mat return. Bandido returned the favor. The two wrestled to a standstill. King united with him to drop Garcia and then danced the Macarena. Garcia argued this with his classic Jericho Appreciation Society dance. Moxley and King traded chops. Bandido’s Swan-Diving Moonsault flattened the Death Riders. King clobbered Moxley’s head in the corner with a series of fists. Once more, they chopped each other’s chests red. A Cutter from Mox found its response in King’s lariat. Garcia unwisely charged right into a belly-to-belly flip by Bandido into the corner.

King aimed for a cannonball leap outside, but Marina Shafir stopped him. They then barked at each other. Shafir trapped Bandido between the barricade and the crowd. Moxley toppled King with a Superplex from the top rope. Garcia and Moxley ran a train on King in the corner, with karma flattening them with King’s double-lariat. Bandido blasted Moxley with a tornillo and a cutter. Just as Bandido dizzied Moxley as he held him upside down, Shafir tried to do the same, until he drained her upside-down in the same way. King crushed Moxley into the barricade. This left Bandido enough time to secure the win with a bridged 21-Plex pinfall.

Match review: I very much enjoyed this. BroDido creates magic wherever they go, and Death Riders made an excellent heel foil, despite somehow still seeming babyface.

ProtoKada laid out their first victim

Kyle Fletcher and Kazuchika Okada gloated backstage at the expense of Mark Briscoe. The camera panned down, showing the evil duo had laid out Tomohiro Ishii.

Tommaso Ciampa hated Chris Jericho’s shenanigans

Appreciating Jericho’s past contributions to AEW and pro wrestling as a whole, Ciampa hated the goofy gimmicks he’d recently employed. He urged Jericho to bring a more serious attitude next time they meet.

Cage & Cope ambush The Dogs

Clark Connors and David Finlay almost harassed the backstage crew near the entrance after they encountered two angry older men. These men were Cage & Cope, who dragged the pair outside and battered them in the ring. Christian Cage acknowledged that most people would expect an inappropriate remark, but said he wouldn’t. Not when the men he’s after have a tag team “named after their mothers.” Adam Copeland mused that Finlay and Connors were emulating the pair’s past glory days. Copeland brought up the New Age Outlaws and APA, which received mixed reactions from the crowd. He then informed the team they’d walk back through the forbidden door as housebroken little pups.

Starlight Kid vignette, Thekla’s response

Nigel McGuinness narrated Kid’s Stardom accolades, including her win over AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla. Thekla opposed this, declaring she ran the AEW side of the Forbidden Door.

BroDido’s backstage celebration

Bandido excitedly screamed that BroDido were indeed reunited. King reiterated this enthusiasm. Daniel Garcia said some harsh words in Spanish. Jon Moxley soothed them. Bandido, who I’m sure said a curse word on live television, rejoiced when Moxley accepted his challenge for the AEW Continental Championship.

Mercedes Mone defeated Hazuki

Each woman danced around the other’s hold until Mone elbowed Hazuki flat. Hazuki recovered with an awkwardly executed rolling arm drag and a crisp dropkick. Mone recovered with a Lungblower that certainly knocked the wind out of her opponent. The CEO, now in control, flopped Hazuki around the canvas by her head. A Meteora into the ropes caused more anguish to the joshi wrestler. Hazuki dove into a comeback with a tope suicida, followed by another. She stole Mone’s Statement Maker, which the CEO escaped with a rope break. Mone’s effort for a Three Amigos was broken at two, so she twisted Hazuki’s arm on the rope and knocked her onto the entrance ramp with a Meteora.

Hazuki’s rage boiled over, her pummeling Mone’s face to a reddened pulp. Mone’s saving grace was a kick and a facelift into the turnbuckle. Hazuki repaid Mone’s earlier Lungblower with one of her own. After her senton failed, Hazuki transitioned into a Statement Maker. Mone briefly fought her way back, but Hazuki sent her back down with a thrust kick. Barely withstanding a Brainbuster, Mone rolled outside, eventually to make a comeback by way of a Statement Maker. The CEO’s Mone Maker found itself reversed in a swirling roll-up that dazed both women. Mone slipped through Hazuki’s Casadora, holding her down with one more Statement Maker to tap the Japanese wrestler out.

Match review: The show did not advertise the match to equal the effort these women put forward, that’s for sure. In this rematch of 2024’s NJPW Strong Style Evolved, these two went the distance, creating much drama and making this simple television match feel like a big stadium match.

Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland face-to-face

Tony Schiavone asked Ospreay how his marriage to Alex Windsor was. Ospreay replied that she supported him leaving their honeymoon earlier than they’d have liked so he could progress in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament finals. He then gave Houston a bit too much information.

Strickland and Prince Nana met Ospreay in the ring, kicking Schiavone out. Strickland mentioned that Ospreay didn’t reach out to him during the time both men were out on injury or during their recent returns. The normally close friends posited how much the other had changed.

Ospreay admitted how his training with the Death Riders may come off to some. Touting his improvements with the group, Ospreay then recalled the previous year’s Forbidden Door when everyone but Strickland came out to try climbing the main event’s steel cage while Strickland was healing backstage. They vowed to end the other to win the Owen Hart Cup.

Strickland expressed his frustration with having helped Hangman Adam Page and Ospreay with no advancement in his career. The crowd was mostly dead for this segment, but Strickland briefly had them after dropping an expletive. Ospreay shoved Strickland to the ground after he brought up his fragile neck. Nana lent Strickland a handful of chains. The Death Riders surrounded the ring, ready to defend Ospreay. The Aerial Assassin instructed them to stand down, confirming to Strickland how much his former friend had changed.

Chris Jericho addressed Tommaso Ciampa

Lexy Nair asked Jericho what his thoughts were on Ciampa’s promo earlier in the night. The veteran instructed the Psycho Killer to say what he needed to say to his face.

AEW Dynamite results and live updates from the Smart Financial Centre in Houston, TX, tonight will be available throughout the show.
