Trick Williams has been through a lot as WWE United States Champion, dealing with Carmelo Hayes, Ricky Saints, and Sami Zayn. He captured the title from Zayn during night 2 of WrestleMania: Vegas. But since then,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>it\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>been one catastrophe after another. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An element of surprise was introduced during the build to their rematch at Backlash. Gingerbread Man was created as a joke by him,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>but\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the tables got turned. Zayn became Gingerbread Man, beating him and Lil Yachty multiple times.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But he got the last laugh as he beat Zayn to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>retain<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the title. His old friend Hayes wanted the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>title, but<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>got involved with Saints. Now, the two of them both want the title.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>During a tense confrontation<\/a> o<\/span>n the June 12,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>2026,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>episode of Friday Night SmackDown,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>h<\/span>e proposed that a singles match on June 19<\/a> would\u00a0<\/span><\/span>determine<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>who would face him at Night of Champions on June 27. Many people want\u00a0a winner, but\u00a0<\/span><\/span>a disqualification<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>would be a better idea.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A Triple Threat Match Would Add to an Already Stacked Night of Champions Card<\/h2>\n

The card for Night of Champions\u00a0is looking\u00a0pretty good. Two matches will be for the finals of the King and Queen of the Ring<\/a> tournament\u00a0and a probable match\u00a0for the Undisputed\u00a0WWE\u00a0Championship, though whether Cody Rhodes or Gunther will hold it remains to be seen.\u00a0A disqualification\u00a0on Friday will give justification for a triple threat match at Night of Champions.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0been\u00a0clear\u00a0for weeks now\u00a0that Hayes and Saints\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0like each other at all. <\/span><\/p>\n

Those feelings might even be stronger than the\u00a0feeling for championship gold.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0not unreasonable\u00a0to think that something will happen that will cause\u00a0a disqualification. Williams will also like that, as\u00a0it\u2019ll\u00a0prove his point from the\u00a0last several weeks.\u00a0He\u2019s\u00a0sick of Hayes and Saints<\/a> fighting each other, which is why he created the match in the first place.\u00a0He\u2019ll\u00a0view the disqualification as a severe consequence of their actions, so\u00a0he\u2019ll\u00a0happily defend the title in a triple threat match.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A Trick Williams Retention Could Lead to a Definitive SummerSlam Match<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

This year, SummerSlam takes place on August 1 and 2, which is only five weeks after Night of Champions. Some feuds won\u2019t end after next Saturday. If the United States Championship match is indeed a triple threat, one result could automatically set up a heated match for SummerSlam. Williams has a tough battle ahead of him, but he has an advantage. He knows Hayes and Saints extremely well, as he\u2019s battled both of them in NXT and on the main roster.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Retention should be easy for him, and if that happens, it\u2019ll be an easy way for him to move on from both of them. The reason is that if Carmelo Hayes and Ricky Saints lose, they\u2019ll likely blame each other for the loss. That should definitely be the start of the build for their SummerSlam match. Williams will get a new opponent, while Hayes and Saints are able to fight it out on their own without any championships distracting them.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What Will Happen When Carmelo Hayes and Ricky Saints Face Off?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Friday\u2019s match<\/a> is a big one in the storyline development for Williams\u2019 Night of Champions match. But what if a disqualification happens, and there is no winner? There\u2019s enough evidence to suggest that Williams will force a triple threat match onto them for next Saturday. <\/span><\/p>\n

Hayes and Saints, while feuding for the U.S. title, are also feuding with each other<\/a>. Both of them could realistically do something to cause a disqualification. Williams could also secretly want that, as he publicly yelled at them last Friday because of their infighting.<\/span><\/p>\n
