There are also a plethora of tag title and mid-card title matches on this card that should keep the fans entertained until midnight, which is when most AEW PPVs culminate.

In the main event, MJF and Mark Briscoe have finally assembled their teams for their major steel cage match at Forbidden Door. If Mark Briscoe’s team wins, Mark Briscoe will get a shot at MJF’s AEW World Title.

It is quite baffling that everyone on that team is petty enough to see MJF lose the belt that they would fight to ensure that Briscoe gets a title opportunity when they essentially get nothing out of it. There is no incentive for them to help Mark Briscoe other than seeing MJF suffer miserably in mere humiliation.

Without further ado, here are the AEW Forbidden Door 2026 Preview and Predictions for June 28, 2026.

Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland – Owen Hart Cup Finals

Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland went to war at AEW Forbidden Door in 2024. Strickland won that match, and Ospreay should get his lick back now. Due to that callback, history won’t repeat itself because Ospreay must fulfill his duties as the newest Death Rider. He has been telling a compelling story with Jon Moxley, and he should get his payoff and a title match in his home country at All In.

Prediction: Will Ospreay

Read More: How to Watch AEW In Every Country It’s Available

Mercedes Mone vs. Maya World – Owen Hart Cup Finals

It is questionable as to why AEW would sacrifice a marquee match between Mercedes Mone and Athena for the Owen Hart Finals. Maya World does not have sufficient credibility to win this tournament and battle for the AEW World Title. Henceforth, AEW is going with the very safe option of Mone winning the Owen Hart Cup again to get another crack at the World Title that has eluded her career.

Prediction: Mercedes Mone

Cope & Cage (c) vs. Dogs of War – AEW World Tag Team Titles

Cope and Cage recently won the AEW Tag Titles from FTR, and they are on a retirement tour for one final run. Henceforth, there is no way they are going to lose their first title defense against the former AEW Trios Champs, Dogs of War. This is just a warm-up match for them and should be a piece of cake as they get revenge for the Dogs interrupting their special 5-second pose with flash photography.

Prediction: Cope & Cage

Shota Umino (c) vs. PAC – IWGP World Heavyweight Title

Who let the dogs out anyway? It could not have been Shota Umino because he has been busy defending the IWGP Title, while PAC is busy being fodder for the Death Riders. It is highly unlikely that PAC will take that title and bring it to AEW. He’s not Mercedes Mone. He would be better off playing PAC-Man on one of those old, dusty arcade machines than betting money on himself in this match.

Prediction: Shota Umino

Divine Dominion (c) vs. Thunder Rosa & Olympia – AEW Women’s World Tag Titles

Divine Dominion is merely dominating every woman’s tag team in the division until an actual threat shows up. An actual threat will only show up when they actually have a compelling storyline to dethrone the champs, and Thunder Rosa and Olympia do not fit the bill. To protect Rosa in defeat as a former AEW World Champion, Olympia will eat the pinfall here in this glorified pre-show match.

Prediction: Divine Dominion

Young Bucks vs. Unbound Co. vs. El Sky Team

While no one will actually care about that women’s tag title match in the pre-show, they especially won’t care about this triple threat men’s tag match that has no stakes. It’s just a random AEW vs. NJPW tag match for the Young Bucks to win. Hopefully, this victory gives Young Bucks the momentum they need to get a future AEW Tag Title shot against Cope and Cage for AEW All In this summer.

Prediction: Young Bucks

Jon Moxley (c) vs. Bandido – AEW Continental Classic Title

Jon Moxley is not losing the title to Bandido. The Mets have a better chance of winning the World Series in the next 10 years than Bandido does at dethroning Moxley. Moxley has been an impeccable storyteller this year, especially regarding Will Ospreay’s neck injury storyline, and should continue his title reign until someone with more momentum and credibility comes along to topple him.

Prediction: Jon Moxley

Kenny Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="8afcbf7a9ed3fd6bf7763b62addc7cf8" image-id="3He6Rn2nwqOG" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2400px; aspect-ratio: 2400/3600;" ></smartframe-embed>

Kenny Omega should win most of the matches he is booked in, but he is quite generous in elevating talent around him, even when they don’t deserve it. Zack Sabre Jr. falls under that umbrella, as Omega can eat a loss without it affecting his trajectory. He can regain that momentum on his journey to getting a rematch against MJF for the World Title at AEW Redemption in his home country of Canada.

Prediction: Zack Sabre Jr.

Thekla (c) vs. Starlight Kid – AEW Women’s World Title

Thekla brought up her controversial exit from STARDOM, as well as her beef with STARDOM President Taro Okada, who did not respect her time in that company, and even spat on the STARDOM logo ahead of Forbidden Door. It is unlikely that Starlight Kid will take that title and bring it to NJPW or Stardom. Thekla will get her revenge on Stardom and keep the AEW World Title in AEW.

Prediction: Thekla

Team MJF vs. Team Briscoe – Steel Cage Main Event

It would be a pretty pointless stipulation for Team Briscoe to lose if they must win to grant Mark Briscoe an AEW World Title shot that he will inevitably lose. As MJF said, the ratings would tank with Briscoe as World Champion. This is merely a transitional feud before MJF feuds with Kenny Omega at AEW Redemption and with Will Ospreay at All In. The “door” is no longer forbidden.

Prediction: Team Briscoe

AEW Forbidden Door 2026 Preview (6/28/26) – Matches & Segments Announced:

Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland for the Owen Hart Finals

Mercedes Mone vs. Maya World for the Owen Hart Finals

Cope & Cage (c) vs. Dogs of War for the AEW Tag Titles

Shota Umino (c) vs. PAC for the IWGP Title

Divine Dominion (c) vs. Thunder Rosa & Olympia for the AEW Tag Titles

Young Bucks vs. Unbound Co. vs. El Sky Team

Jon Moxley (c) vs. Bandido for the AEW Continental Classic Title

Kenny Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr. in Personal Rivalry

Thekla (c) vs. Starlight Kid for the AEW World Title

Team MJF vs. Team Briscoe in Steel Cage Main Event

If you’re not down with just that and would like even more AEW Coverage from Mark Justice, check out more of his articles right here on Last Word on Sports (LWOS), on Let Them Wrestle (LTW), and subscribe to his popular YouTube channel.

Forbidden Door 2026 Preview and Predictions are here for June 28, 2026, at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, after a go-home episode of Dynamite this week at the Rio Rancho Events Center in Rio Rancho, a regular episode of Dynamite last week at the Smart Financial Center in Sugar Land, Texas, as well as […]

[4677,13,14,6,2192,317,323
2345,7655,4395,386,2546,8520,176,7280,101,172
post-162678","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-aew","category-international","category-njpw","category-north-america","category-wrestling","category-women","category-world-wonder-ring-stardom","tag-bandido","tag-forbidden-door","tag-jon-moxley","tag-kenny-omega","tag-mjf","tag-swerve-strickland","tag-the-young-bucks","tag-thekla","tag-will-ospreay","tag-zack-sabre-jr
["GET
