It started with Clash at the Castle, and building on that success, WWE has brought the themed PLE to other cities around Europe. Cardiff, Glasgow, and Paris have already rung the bell, and Turin is the next up.

It can be assumed that the Italian crowd is going to be just as raucous as the rest of the European contingent has been. That is going to lend a tremendous atmosphere to the entire event, but the crowd can only take the Clash in Italy so far.

The crowds for the Clash PLEs have always been terrific, so that’s just a given. WWE has had to work overtime to give us reasons to tune in this Sunday. Luckily, WWE has put together a card that has all the potential in the world.

Clash in Italy features three World Championship Matches, an intriguing return match for the Intercontinental Championship, and a second battle between a beast and a ruler. WWE has presented countless reasons to watch Clash in Italy. Below are the 6 biggest reasons why Clash in Italy needs to be on your television.

The Usually Great European Crowd

One of the biggest positives coming out of the Clash series has been the phenomenal crowd reactions. Each show has contained some of the best crowds in WWE history. They have been very vocal throughout the entirety of the shows and have produced incredible chants. It has been a treat to watch these crowds create moments that will live in history.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="3ec16c2e89be0acadd2b088db7a33eb9" image-id="imbr2eeSqIsM" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4961px; aspect-ratio: 4961/3508;" ></smartframe-embed>

A great wrestling crowd doesn’t make a show, but it sure does help to elevate good to great. We have seen this in three different European cities, and Turin waits to join that group. A rowdy and engaged crowd translates to the viewer watching at home. It’s an infectious energy that has the viewer just as excited as the crowd. It’s a great feeling, and one that will happen this Sunday.

The Beast and The Ruler Part Two

One of the biggest moments of either night of WrestleMania 42 was the epic showdown between Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar. It was a changing of the guard when Femi dominated Brock Lesnar, charging his way to victory. In under 4 minutes, Oba Femi accomplished what many greats never could.

He made Lesnar look diminutive, no-selling all the offense the Beast threw at him. It was at that moment that Oba Femi took over as the dominant force in WWE. It was also a moment that was undercut when Brock Lesnar returned to accept Oba Femi’s open challenge.

A WWE Clash in Italy graphic of Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi. The smart money would be having the Ruler destroy Brock Lesnar yet again, further solidifying his place at the top. WWE could go either way with this finish, and the decision could have far-reaching implications for all parties involved.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBwm6uflpg" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3232px; aspect-ratio: 3232/2586;" ></smartframe-embed>

A Return Match That Rights A Wrong

This past Saturday night’s main event had some great moments, but the Women’s Intercontinental Championship match was not one of them. Becky Lynch and Sol Ruca’s match ended before it got a chance to get going, and included more of a focus on the drama between Lynch and referee Jessika Carr. This match had all the potential in the world, but failed to live up to expectations.

Clash in Italy has the chance to right the wrong of Becky Lynch and Sol Ruca. A return match was announced immediately following their first IC Championship match, in the hopes of reversing the bad taste in everyone’s mouth. This Sunday, WWE has a chance to give these women the proper time and correct booking.

Becky Lynch and Sol Ruca are an intriguing pairing of a young star and a veteran, a high-flyer and a more grounded competitor. The potential is there for this match to be a show stealer, and we are all hoping that WWE will wise up and let these women cook. Clash in Italy is the place for that to happen.

Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill Run It Back

A surprise match coming out of WrestleMania 42 was the WWE Championship showdown between Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill. That’s not to say their match was expected to be terrible, but the expectations were lower than in other matches. It was a pleasant surprise when they turned in a tight 10 minutes that worked towards each woman’s strengths.

WWE has now had a few weeks to add layers to the budding rivalry. The 6-woman tag team match at Saturday Night’s Main Event made Cargill look like a destroyer, and heaped more drama onto her and Ripley’s program.

It was nice to see Jade Cargill get the clean win, and it helps to add some ambiguity over whether Rhea Ripley will be able to secure the victory on Sunday. A great job by WWE working emotion into this program, and intrigue around the WWE Championship Match at Clash in Italy.

Tribal Combat Brings The Pain at WWE Clash in Italy

The wrestling world knew that Backlash wasn’t going to be a one-off. Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu have too much history between them for their issues to be settled in just one night, especially since the finish of their Backlash main event was highly controversial. Roman Reigns used the turnbuckle to gain the victory, which is not exactly what one would call a clean victory.

A WWE Clash in Italy graphic of World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu in “Tribal Combat.” (Photo Credit: WWE)

Setting their return match-up for Clash in Italy is a logical step, as is adding the Tribal Comat stipulation. Throwing the rulebook out the window is a great way to increase the excitement for this match and give Reigns and Fatu a larger framework to work within. Tribal Combat is essentially a street fight, and everyone loves a good street fight. The liberal use of weapons will make this match a must-see.

Hopefully, WWE will lean into Jacob Fatu’s unpredictable nature and have him stoop to new levels of violence. Roman Reigns should retain his championship, but it sure will be a lot of fun watching the journey to that finish.

How Will WWE Book Cody Rhodes and Gunther?

Gunther cashing in his favor from Paul Heyman got him this WWE Championship match. It will be great to see Cody Rhodes and Gunther in the ring again, as their King of the Ring finals match was a great contest. We should look to see the same type of action here. Both men are at the top of their game and have worlds of momentum behind them heading into the Clash in Italy.

The official WWE Clash in Italy poster. (Photo Credit: WWE)

What will be more interesting than the match will be how WWE decides to play out the finish. Cody Rhodes still has his detractors among the WWE Universe, and WWE could placate them by taking the WWE Championship off him. It would also make sense to have Rhodes lose to build Gunther up as an even bigger monster heel than he already is. Gunther is not a man to lose matches, and has proven great as a heel champion.

On the other hand, Cody Rhodes is the safe bet here. He is a great company man and consistent in the ring. His ability to bring any program to another level has set him apart from the rest of the company. It’s hard to imagine Rhodes losing the strap when he still has the support of some of the audience. Seeing which direction WWE will go in is going to make this one of the best matches on the card.

This Sunday, another chapter will be written in the short history of WWE’s Clash PLEs.
