Before WWE, he spent time in promotions such as AAA, AEW, CMLL, MLW, and TNA, winning a lot of championships. Most of those titles were won with his brother, Rey Fenix, by his side. Unfortunately, he’s had to settle for a singles run without Fenix. Maybe one day they’ll reunite in WWE, but it hasn’t happened yet.

That doesn’t mean that he’s been unimpressive or wasted. He’s created a huge fanbase, impressing everyone and showing why so many people hyped him up when he signed.

He’s the current WWE Intercontinental Champion and has been so since the March 2, 2026 episode of Monday Night Raw. Many people have tried to take the title away from him, but he’s managed to retain it every single time. Could Je’Von Evans and his high-flying athleticism be the man to take him down?

Penta Once Again Retains the Intercontinental Championship on WWE Raw

When Penta won the Intercontinental Championship, it was the end of a very long fight between him and the previous title holder. Dominik Mysterio held the title for a combined 297 days beforehand, with a 19-day John Cena title reign in between. He, too, had many impressive victories in his reign. But the two men faced off with each other six times before Penta took the title away from him.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBEmzU64yE" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 5277px; aspect-ratio: 5277/6504;" ></smartframe-embed>

When he won, the fans celebrated as he captured his first title in WWE. His reign started on a weird note, though. The match coincided with the arrival of Danhausen, who cursed Mysterio and some of his first opponents. But over time, he managed to win on his own and prove that he is a legitimate champion in WWE.

Je’Von Evans has also shown a lot in a short amount of time. He impressed in NXT and has done so on the main roster. But this isn’t the first time they faced each other. They met at WrestleMania: Vegas in the six-pack ladder match, where Penta retained. Would he learn from his mistakes and win the title?

An NXT Heatwave graphic featuring Je’Von Evans and Oba Femi. After that, he sent him outside before jumping on him. When he jumped back in, Penta superkicked him to the mat after reaching the ring first.

A step up enziguri followed by a kick led to the first pinfall, but Evans kicked out. He dodged a Penta Driver before an arm drag and a kick sent Penta to the mat. Evans once again dove to the outside, but got sent spine-first into the announcer’s table.

When they got up, Penta tried to run into him, but got sent into the timekeeper’s area and got slapped. Evans then ran around the ring, launching himself into Penta. That move led to both men going into the front row of the crowd. After they got up, they started brawling with each other near the turnbuckle.

They got up to the top before Evans sent Penta tumbling down with a double jump cutter. However, Penta was there with a superkick to stop him. Evans countered with a kick of his own but got hit with a Backstabber.

A WWE Raw graphic of Penta.
