WWE has been gearing up for another installment of its long-running show, WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. These shows have been a great addition to the WWE schedule and have provided a welcome break from monthly PLE’s.

Saturday Night’s Main Event card is sneaky good. No World Championships will be decided, but that doesn’t mean nothing is on the line. WWE has booked Intercontinental and Tag Team Championship matches that are dripping with potential. These matches will highlight WWE’s future and could include a shock title change to warm up the crowd. Many are looking past this Saturday night, but are missing the huge reasons that WWE has given us to watch the show. Reasons we will discuss below.

A Double Dose Of Tag Team Championships

WWE has placed two huge tag team championship matches on Saturday Night’s Main Event card. Both highlight the best of the tag division and will make for a very entertaining night of tag team wrestling.

The first match sees Lash Legend and Nia Jax going for the tag team championships they lost at WrestleMania. Paige and Brie Bella were a great nostalgia act and received a huge pop when they won the championships, but now is the time for the official return match. There are no other teams involved, so we will see just how well Bella and Paige work against a more polished team. Legend and Jax are a physically imposing pair, and there are no other teams for the champions to hide behind. This will be a true test for Paige and Brie Bella.

On the other side, the Street Profits will try to wrest the tag straps from defending champions Logan Paul and Theory. All four men are incredible wrestlers and should provide for one of the best tag team championships of the year. For those fans who love tag team wrestling, Saturday Night’s Main Event will be your wonderland.

Becky Lynch and Sol Ruca’s Show Stealing Potential

Becky Lynch, being the Intercontinental Champion, is the best thing for the mid-card. She presents a legitimate champion for the younger stars to chase and produces fantastic matches to highlight their talents. We can look no further than the pairing of Lynch and Sol Ruca to see this potential.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="a61405551f80e72f675225f083759bb9" image-id="fwuQCmsi1umU" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4000px; aspect-ratio: 4000/2667;" ></smartframe-embed>

In the past few weeks, we have seen these two women get into a war of words. Ruca isn’t intimidated by the reigning champion, and that confidence has made their promos a fun part of Monday Night Raw. Becky Lynch has been fantastic getting Sol Ruca over, and this Saturday, we will see the young star do the rest of the work.

The contrast in styles will be fun to watch. Becky Lynch’s grounded offense will try to keep Sol Ruca out of the skies, and we will all enjoy watching whose will prevail. This program has been serviceable on the microphone, but in the ring, they will steal the show. If WWE books this match well, the crowd will be on the edge of their seat the whole time.

Rhea Ripley and Her Allies Battle Jade Cargill’s Team

Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill have gotten top billing on SmackDown since WrestleMania. Their issues over ownership of the Women’s World Championship are far from over, and now there are four other women to join the fray. Jade Cargill has her backup, but the more interesting duo is on Rhea Ripley’s side of the contest.

Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair are former World Champions who might not be as trustworthy as they seem. It’s hard to imagine that either woman has given up their pursuit of a world championship, and a quick turn on Rhea Ripley could be the quickest way to achieve that. The match will be a great showcase of all 6 of these women, but the way it ends will be worth watching.

A Night That Highlights WWE’s Mid-Card

It is not very often that the WWE or World Championships are featured heavily. These are the main championships, so it makes sense to have programming revolve around the straps, but it’s refreshing to see that this Saturday is void of any World Championship match.

Saturday Night’s Main Event will be a showcase of WWE’s mid-card and tag team championships. These are titles and programs that usually take a backseat to the World Championship, but Saturday night, they will be front and center for the wrestling world.

Letting the secondary championships take the spotlight is a great move by WWE. It’s placing a huge importance on the championships, and there is wrestling vying for those titles. Saturday Night will be a huge showcase for all things mid-card, and it’s a fantastic idea.

Penta and Ethan Page Main Event

Any one of the five advertised matches could potentially main event the evening, but it would behoove WWE to put these two on last. Penta and Ethan Page have been at odds for well over a month now, and there’s potential for this to be a match of the year candidate.

Penta and Ethan Page are going to be staples of the mid-card, and this will hopefully be the first of many championship matches. They have an undeniable chemistry, and their clash of styles will make for a great story. They have a perfect babyface/heel dynamic. Essentially, everything is working in their favor. Penta and Ethan Page march towards Saturday Night’s Main Event.

A WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event graphic featuring Ethan Page and Penta. (Photo Credit: WWE)

Aside from the potential for a great match, the finish of this match is up in the air. WWE has been backing Page since his debut, including a fantastic sit-down promo with Michael Cole this past week. His heel character is the exact type of wrestler WWE loves to put a championship around.

Saturday Night’s Main event could be the start of his ascension to the top of the company. On the other side, Penta is a great champion and merch driver. It would be hard to argue against WWE taking the Intercontinental Championship off him. Many questions about this contest will be answered by watching the show on Saturday.

The wrestling world is so focused on the Clash in Italy that they have forgotten that there is a huge show this Saturday.
