It was a stellar homecoming, as he reminisced about his time in the great city of Columbia. With his parents in the front row, Trick Williams declared and thanked his mom for what she created, which is greatness incarnate.

Unfortunately, the party had to end very early as The Miz and Kit Wilson would interrupt, raining on Trick’s homecoming. Kit even had some slam poetry that denounced the sports culture of South Carolina, which did not sit well with the crowd or Trick Williams.

Once Kit was done, Lil Yachty wanted to hit ’em with it too. And we don’t have to tell you what happened after, Yachty whooped that Trick and scorched Kit on the mic, even taking shots at Miz, for having tiny, well, you know what.

The Miz took one step further by mentioning Trick’s mom, and the U.S. Champion would clean house, putting an exclamation point on his homecoming.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBFbNBp3Cv" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3313px; aspect-ratio: 3313/2651;" ></smartframe-embed>

The Miz vs. Trick Williams

To kick off these WWE SmackDown results properly, Trick Williams aims to shut The Miz up once and for all as they go one-on-one. Trick was hot, battering the Miz, left and right, after that heated exchange on the mic to open the show.

After a Jumping Neckbreaker that’s looking to set up the kill shot, Kit Wilson would grab Trick’s leg, leading to him falling on his face, allowing The Miz to capitalize and finally start getting some offense in. Lil Yachty would confront Wilson on the outside after this transpired.

Sadly, this happened once again. Kit interfered, only this time, this would lead to The Miz hitting Skull-Crushing Finale on Trick, but the U.S. Champion would miraculously kick out. Miz was desperate, and he pulled out a Kendo Stick, threatening to hit Trick with it. Yachty would get hold of the Singapore Cane and rained down on Kit Wilson.

With The Miz dumbfounded, Trick Williams would hit Trick Shot for the win.

Backstage:

We see Carmelo Hayes and Ricky Saints get into it backstage, with the former wanting nothing to do with him and is focused on regaining the U.S. Title. As for Saints, he wants to teach him a lesson and prove that he’s superior. Tonight, they match up.

SmackDown GM Nick Aldis talked to Sami Zayn, as we see Rey Fenix walking after a conversation with the GM, and Zayn wanted a rematch for the U.S. Title. Aldis would shut him down, angering Zayn, saying he needs to earn it.

Paige & Brie Bella vs. Giulia & Kiana James

We have a stellar tag match as the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions face off against would-be contenders Kiana James and former Women’s U.S. Champion Giulia. James and Giulia really had the champs on the ropes, dominating the match. Unfortunately, a mistake between Giulia and Kiana would cost them, and this has been a recurring issue between the two for a few months now.

Paige would capitalize on this error, and hit the Ram-Paige, gaining her and Brie Bella momentum for their showdown between The Judgment Day this coming WWE Monday Night Raw.

Cody Rhodes Hunts for Gunther

With the Undisputed WWE Championship in hand, Cody Rhodes stops by his domain to secure Gunther’s signature for Clash in Italy. Rhodes took it upon himself and did some remodeling, throwing two seats into the ring. A table in the middle of them, producing a makeshift contract signing opportunity, making it clear he wants Gunther’s signature, and he wants it now.

Be careful what you wish for, as the “Ring General” would oblige and march his way into the ring. Gunther chastised Rhodes, saying he worked hard for his transfer to SmackDown, and Rhodes ruined it. He wanted a formal apology, something nice; he needed Rhodes to say please and be sincere about it so Gunther would sign.

Rhodes obliged, he said please, to make Gunther sign the contract, saying it ensures that he’ll get his as* kicked at Clash in Italy. Gunther still played mind games, saying Rhodes should address him as Mr. Gunther. Royce Keys would crash the party and get in the face of Gunther, saying that if he won’t sign it, he will.

Gunther would go after Keys and prevent him from signing. Nick Aldis would intervene, saying Gunther has overplayed his hand, and now, that Clash in Italy match is up for grabs, as Gunther will take on Royce Keys for the right to take on Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title.

Backstage:

Shinsuka Nakamura would once again try to get through Tama Tonga, only this time, Talla Tonga would demolish Nakamura, telling him he warned him this would happen.

Carmelo Hayes vs. Ricky Saints

After a month out of action from WWE SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes is back, and he takes on the newcomer, hotshot, Ricky Saints. These two wasted no time as Saints immediately got the first shot, slapping the taste of Melo’s mouth. Melo would not take this lying down, dropping Saints on his back to reset the flow of the match.

At the mid-point, Melo would hit Dirty Diana and First 48. Saints would not go away easily, kicking out both times. In one of the best matches of these WWE SmackDown results, Melo would scale the ropes and try to hit Nothing But Net, but Saints would get out of the way.

Ricky would then hit the Revolution DDT, but once again, Carmelo would get his shoulders up. Saints went for Roshambo but Melo would counter. Saints would roll him up, with his legs on the ropes for leverage, but he got caught by WWE official Charles Robinson. Melo would hit the same pinning combination, and at the last moment, Hayes would leverage the bottom rope, getting one over Ricky Saints.

Backstage:

R-Truth would catch up with Royce Keys, wishing him good luck on his main event match tonight. Damian Priest would then ask why Truth associates himself with Keys when everyone who’s around him gets jumped by MFT but Royce Keys himself. Priest said Royce needs to earn his respect first. Tonight, Priest says he knows Truth won’t be out there because he’s not medically cleared, and he’s glad in a way because he’s safe. R-Truth would tell his WWE Tag Team Championship partner, Goodluck, as well, telling him he loves him.

Damian Priest vs. Tama Tonga

One-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Damian Priest, looks for retribution as he battles Tama Tonga as the May 15, 2026, edition of WWE SmackDown continues. Priest dominated Tonga throughout, finally ending his misery with South of Heaven. However, the main talking point from this Priest domination is him getting laid out as Talla Tonga would hit the ring, boot him in the head, followed up by Solo Sikoa nailing him with a Samoan Spike.

Backstage:

Sami Zayn would spill his guts out to his “trusted” friend, as a catatonic Johnny Gargano would lie cheek down as Zayn unloaded his grievances on the current state of his career and SmackDown.

Jade Cargill is Ready to Talk

After her return since WrestleMania 42, Jade Cargill talks about her assault on WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley last week. Cargill didn’t talk long, saying the head “b*tch” is back and she’s looking to regain the WWE Women’s Title sooner rather than later.

Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair would crash the party, as Bliss declared this is “Flair Country” and Charlotte would back that up by saying Cargill has finally ticked her off and it’s time to take a seat as they obliterate her cronies, B-FAB and Michin.

Michin and B-FAB had no answer for Bliss and Flair, as the two were on the verge of taking down Cargill’s group with a Queen Boot, followed up by the Sister Abigail DDT. However, Cargill would pull Alexa out of the ring, leading to the disqualification. Charlotte would stand her ground as she challenged Cargill, but Jade would walk away.

Backstage:

Fatal Influence puts everyone on notice, saying they’re the predators of the SmackDown women’s division, and as the people on top of the food chain, they will be taking over sooner rather than later.

Royce Keys vs. Gunther

To round out this week’s WWE SmackDown results, Gunther and Royce Keys fight for the right to challenge Cody Rhodes at Clash in Italy for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Gunther and Keys went to war, with Royce Keys showcasing he can go toe-to-toe with the “Ring General” himself.

At one point, Keys had Gunther on the edge, executing a monstrous Suplex, as well as an amazing display of power with a World’s Strongest Slam on the announcer’s table. Keys was like a freight train, but Gunther had too much experience, and before he knew it, he was locked into a Sleeper Hold on the verge of passing out.

Keys was not about to go down that easily, as he fought out of it and leveled Gunther. During this whole ordeal, Solo Sikoa would get involved, cheering on Royce Keys as the big man escaped the Sleeper, as mentioned. Sikoa would take it one step further and hand Keys a chair. Royce thought about it, only to bash Sikoa over the head.

This one distraction caused Royce Keys everything, as Gunther would capitalize and hit a Powerbomb for the win, sealing his match with Cody Rhodes at Clash in Italy for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Rhodes would hit the ring and end the night with Gunther laid out from a Cross Rhodes.

WWE SmackDown Post-Show Review (5/15/26):

From an in-ring action standpoint, this week’s edition of WWE SmackDown was the best in a couple of months. Don’t get us wrong, none of these will go down as modern classics, but this is a welcome change of pace to a show often littered with promos. The show was kicked off by the hometown boy Trick Williams, and it was a good call, since Trick is proving every week that he’s primed to take over Friday nights sooner rather than later.

If Sami Zayn brought out the best in Trick in the ring, a potential feud with The Miz, and potential mic battles would take him to the next level, and that’s why we hope The Miz, also Kit Wilson, will be the one to take on Trick Williams next so he can showcase another side of his character.

The match between Paige and Brie Bella against Giulia and Kiana James was nothing to write home about; however, we’ll give credit where it’s due since it furthered the rift between Giulia and Kiana James. While a lot of the WWE Universe is uninterested in this potential feud, both women proved they could go, and we see Kiana James coming out of this as a top heel, and Giulia slowly rebuilds her career as a face.

Speaking of amazing matches, Ricky Saints and Carmelo Hayes had unbelievable chemistry on this night, and it seems like we’ll be getting a prolonged feud between the two as Hayes snatched the win under dubious circumstances.

Maybe the low point of this whole episode is Damian Priest vs. Tama Tonga. The MFT storyline has been played out to death when they should’ve been broken up a millennium ago.

Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga should be a duo and leave Tama Tonga as the top mid-card act. Sikoa and Talla will also benefit from this, as Sikoa can act as a mouthpiece for Talla, while the Tongan acts as an enforcer for Sikoa. To summarize, the MFT needs to go their separate ways officially, as all performers will benefit from this.

Speaking of unremarkable, Flair and Bliss took on Jade Cargill’s gang, and it was a nothing segment, if we’re being honest. It was just a vehicle that undermined four talented women to hype up a match at Clash in Italy. At least they’ll be showcased next Saturday in a multi-woman match to soften the blow.

We thought Jacy Jayne or maybe even Lash Legend would have this spot against Rhea Ripley, but it’s just a bad call to have this rematch, as fans weren’t really into the initial program to begin with.

In a great segment, Cody Rhodes and Gunther are really selling their match for Clash in Italy, as the two are tailor-made to be the antithesis of one another. The twist of Gunther having to earn the shot at Clash in Italy against Royce Keys was a great call, allowing Keys to showcase himself as a potential main-eventer, and he really made good on the opportunity despite the loss.

Keys is now on to Sikoa as his first real feud in WWE, and we’re not at all mad at that, as Sikoa is a steady hand to guide the new star in WWE.

A bit of a nitpick on that one, we could’ve had this huge first-time match-up between Keys and Gunther at SNME, but we’ll cut them a break since Gunther can’t have two high-profile matches so close to one another.

Overall, every SmackDown episode in May has been gradually getting better, as the company gets its groove back into regular programming that doesn’t center around a big WWE PLE. For this week, we rate it a 7 out of 10. Not spectacular, but definitely worth watching.

That’s all for REAL-TIME WWE SmackDown results, as well as post-show review, for the May 15, 2026, episode as they happened in the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina.

This week’s WWE SmackDown results for May 15, 2026, tackle the tremendous fallout from WWE Backlash 2026.
