Overall, I’d be so bold as to say that AEW in April 2026 was a bump up from its previous month.

As always, this series aims to find out who stood out above all the others. So often, they raise the profile of wrestlers who need it, both in victory and in defeat. For much of April, they had a winning streak, with two wins over the Don Callis Family. Chief among these triumphs are El Clon, Hechicero, Kazuchika Okada, and Konosuke Takeshita.

Standing tall over Callis’s cruel cronies is one thing, but their battle against Myron Reed and Zachary Wents of The Rascalz raised their stock and impressed fans. Both teams would team up on April 22’s AEW Collision in a losing effort to the Death Riders and The Dogs, in a vehicle that kept eyes on the Bucks and Riders’ underlings. The Young Bucks carved out a winning streak and put on a stellar 10-man Tag Team Match to end April. Not bad.

Although I’d wager that a New Day may come sooner or later, given the recent parting of Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston from WWE.

The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, & Kyle O’Reilly)

After Roderick Strong joined The Conglomeration on March 22’s AEW Slam Dunk Sunday, Orange Cassidy has had a solid companion in his affairs. The three would immediately win the AEW World Trios Championship from The Dogs.

Their winning ways would continue, as they trounced Lethal Twist, comprised of Jay Lethal, Lee Johnson, and Blake Christian. Andrade El Idolo, Hechicero, and Lance Archer challenged next in a losing effort in Portland, Oregon. Nightingale’s April in AEW featured a running theme: defending her AEW TBS Championship against returning wrestlers. Each time, she has sent them back to the starting point. April 1 saw her dash Hikaru Shida’s hopes for gold, kickstarting a confusing attitude en route to an eventual heel turn and a partnership with Kris Statlander.

Queen Aminata was up next the following week, on April 8’s AEW Dynamite. While Aminata hasn’t been seen since, the women put on a hard-hitting match, only adding to Nightingale’s streak.

While Nightingale and Aminata parted ways respectfully, her next challenger wasn’t as kind. Nightingale ruining the returns of four wrestlers can very well come back to haunt her.

Darby Allin

I’ll tell you right now, I’m not the biggest fan of Darby Allin. Factoring in that I enjoy these car-crash style of matches laid out with plunder, blood, and gnarly bumps, something about Allin hadn’t resonated with me. Admittedly, when he casts those elements aside and takes part in bare-bones wrestling matches, I find he shines. That 2021 Full Gear match with MJF is such an apt example of this.

The Seattle native reminded me of just that in April. Following a trio’s tag match alongside Jack Perry and Bandido against the Don Callis Family on April 8, Allin’s destiny would change. Once he defeated Andrade El Idolo at AEW Dynasty to earn the right to challenge for the AEW World Championship. The next week bore greater fortunes for him. In the main event match, Allin climbed the true mountain that eluded him: the world title.

I mentioned his victory over Tommaso Ciampa, but he kept on, defending against Brody King, and in May, he faced Kevin Knight and PAC. New York and its heaven-piercing skyscrapers loom in the distance. Already, the in-ring is stacking up with months and months of ongoing stories, like Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada’s ongoing rivalry. FTR’s war with Attitude Era stars Cage and Cope culminates in an “I Quit” match that can change the latter team’s tag career.

The Stadium Stampede returns as Chris Jericho unites with the Hurt Syndicate and The Elite against The Demand and the Don Callis Family, forgoing Anarchy in the Arena.
