The reception is mixed with many fans drawing attention to the extensive commercial breaks and short duration of the matches. Seven matches took place, and accounted for less than 90 minutes of in-ring action on a 4-hour show.

Nonetheless, it still was the Showcase of Immortals, and quite a few noteworthy moments did take place. Social media will give more fuel to the negatives coming out of the show, but WWE made several right moves on Mania Saturday, too.

On that note, let’s look at 4 things WWE got right at Mania 42 – Saturday.

At WrestleMania 42 – Saturday, Becky Lynch receives the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship belt from the referee as she defeated Champion AJ Lee (Photo Credit: RS/WWE)

#4. LA Knight and The Usos Got the Last Laugh at WrestleMania Saturday

The Vision’s Logan Paul and Austin Theory teamed up with iShowSpeed to take on LA Knight and the Usos. It was the first match of the show. With a runtime of a little over 7 minutes, it wasn’t anything special. Nonetheless, Knight and the Usos going over the Vision and Speed was the right call.

Given WWE’s track record and Knight’s recent booking, there were concerns that the Megastar might eat the pinfall. The Vision has been booked strongly, and iShowSpeed has been doing some great work on screen. So, Knight being pinned by Speed was a possibility worth considering.

Hopefully, the Megastar can put the Vision in the rear-view mirror and move on to bigger and better things. As for the Usos, they would want to shift the focus to the Tag Team Championships, currently held by Paul and Theory.

#3. Jacob Fatu Defeating Drew McIntyre Made Sense

Many fans were disappointed that Drew McIntyre didn’t walk into WrestleMania Saturday as the WWE Champion. However, the consolation prize left few complaining. Jacob Fatu and McIntyre had been at each other’s throats for months, and their rivalry came to a head at Mania 42- Night One in an Unsanctioned match.

We expected it to be a car wreck, and that’s what we got. The Samoan Werewolf and the Scottish Warrior didn’t hold back. Steel chairs, tool boxes, and McIntyre’s selfies all found their way into the action. In the end, Fatu put his arch-rival through the table with his special Moonsault.

It appears as if McIntyre might be taking some time off, making Fatu’s win all the more important and meaningful. This win should catapult the Samoan Werewolf to greater heights, potentially inserting him into the WWE Title scene.

#2. Becky Lynch Finally Puts AJ Lee Down

When WWE announced AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch for WrestleMania, the outcome was always a foregone conclusion. Lee made her shocking return in early September 2025. Since then, she has continuously had Lynch’s number, making the Man tap out on multiple occasions.

CM Punk’s wife had taken everything away from Lynch, including the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. However, Lee was always going to be a transitional champion. The Man carried the women’s midcard on RAW and made the IC Title meaningful. Given the feud had gone on so long, it was time for Lynch to have the final laugh. Thus, it made all the sense in the world for Lee to drop the title to Lynch.

In conventional Becky Lynch style, the Man took advantage of a distraction provided by Lee bumping into the referee. The bump allowed Lynch to take advantage and crush her opponent with the Manhandle slam for the three count.

#1. Gunther vs. Seth “Freakin” Rollins Stole the Show

Seth “Freakin” Rollins recently called himself the “Mr. WrestleMania” of the modern generation. After his match with Gunther, it’s hard to disagree with the Visionary. The WWE Universe had high expectations for Gunther vs. Rollins, and they delivered in the best way possible in the match of the night.

The match was brilliantly paced, moving along smoothly as the two Superstars told a wonderful story. The resilient and frantic Rollins wanted to pick up the pace, but the dominant Gunther kept him down. Their styles contrasted perfectly, and the finishing sequence was a stroke of genius.

The Ring General cut off Rollins’ Suicide Dive fest with a Powerbomb on the apron. Gunther was about to end Rollins’ night with another Powerbomb through the announce table. However, the Visionary countered with the Pedigree and landed the Stomp.

Just as it seemed as if Rollins was going to defeat the Career Killer, Bron Breakker appeared out of nowhere to cut Rollins in half with a thunderous Spear. The Ring General did the rest, forcing Rollins to sleep with the Sleeperhold. Gunther vs. Rollins is the only match that no one is complaining about at the moment.

It injected excitement into the Allegiant Stadium. Despite a limited build, both men still told a great story in the ring. The action was competitive, technical, and spectacular. If WWE had given it a few more minutes, it would have broken the match rating systems.

WrestleMania 42 Saturday is in the history books.
