{"id":15925,"date":"2018-03-22T13:40:47","date_gmt":"2018-03-22T17:40:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/?p=15925"},"modified":"2018-03-22T13:40:47","modified_gmt":"2018-03-22T17:40:47","slug":"kevin-owens-returns-to-kevin-steen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2018\/03\/22\/kevin-owens-returns-to-kevin-steen\/","title":{"rendered":"Kevin Owens Returns to Kevin Steen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In an attempt to continue the kayfabe narrative of the current <em><strong>Smackdown Live<\/strong><\/em> storyline between <strong>Kevin Owens<\/strong> and <strong>Sami Zayn<\/strong> and <strong>Shane McMahon<\/strong> and a returning <strong>Daniel Bryan<\/strong>, Kevin Owens has changed his Twitter handle back to <strong>Kevin Steen<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FightSteenFight\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@fightsteenfight<\/a>, following the firing of himself and Sami Zayn by Daniel Bryan this past Tuesday. Sami Zayn\u2019s Twitter remains with his WWE name, presumably to maintain the story that his former indie persona, <strong>El Generico<\/strong>, had moved to Mexico to open an orphanage (and by all reports, passed away there).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15928\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15928\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15928 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/03\/KO-e1521739738697.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"382\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15928\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Twitter<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Kevin Steen started his wrestling career in 2000, working with the Rougeau&#8217;s promotion in the Montreal area, before becoming a staple with Montreal\u2019s <strong>International Wrestling Syndicate (IWS)<\/strong> in 2003. In 2004, he began working with<strong> CZW<\/strong> in the US, followed a year later with <strong>PWG<\/strong>. In 2007, he began working with <strong>Ring of Honor<\/strong>, a partnership that lasted until 2014, when Steen signed with the WWE and began working with NXT. Throughout his 14-year indie career, Steen was a ROH World Champion, 3x PWG World Champion, CZW Iron Man Champion, and multi-time tag team champion (ROH and 2x PWG Tag Team Champion with El Generico).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15926\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15926\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15926 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/03\/b2d8c06345be43dea481922585c01b57-kevin-oleary-pinterest-e1521740049551.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"352\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15926\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo; ROH<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Steen\u2019s name changed to Kevin Owens in NXT in 2014, a tribute to his son and favourite wrestler <strong>Owen Hart<\/strong>, capturing the NXT Championship in record time. He also debuted on the main roster months later, while still holding the NXT title, defeating <strong>John Cena<\/strong> clean in his PPV debut at <em><strong>Elimination Chamber &#8217;15<\/strong><\/em>.
